Weekend Round Up

This weekend blew by in a blur. After a hot week; cold, wind and rain arrived to confuse us here in Southern California. On Saturday, we went out to see Middle Son, and we must have passed four different accidents–one looked really bad–on the way. Rain and So Cal traffic is not a good mix. But we had a great time at Middle Son’s, and I got to see my two grandpuppies, Jett and Hazel. I played with them while Maggie convinced Middle Son and his wife that she need all their attention.

Sunday Turbo and his parents came over for another marathon day of fun. Maggie is worn out from two days of visiting and playing. It’s really cute when Turbo plays food truck, and he brings Maggie snacks like pretend tacos and ice cream. Maggie actually plays along eating it. You’d have to see it to believe it. Turbo loves playing food truck with her.

Family time was great, but work time was scarce. There’s so many things I’m trying to do, I’m pretty sure I’m throwing way too many balls in the air then running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to catch them :-) But I’m energized and trying! I wrote some tag lines, designed some promo graphics, got half way through setting up ARC’s (copies for reviewers) on Bookfunnel, had my son and daughter-in-law teach me a little about Zoom, and tell me what I’m going to need for better quality video and audio…a whole list of stuff.

Then my supercharged, marketing savvy Middle Son suggested I start a podcast, and CPA boy thought it was a great idea too. At least they believe I can figure it out and do it as opposed to thinking I can’t???? LOLOL! I’ve put that idea in the research and ponder file to wait its turn.

In addition to the flurry of energy going into SAVAGED DEVOTION’S publication, I reached out to my friend and sometimes critique partner, Marianne, to help me work out some backstory and plot issues in PRIMAL MAGIC. She’s awesome at this, and I’m excited to have our phone session on Wednesday. For a long time I didn’t reach out and ask for help because I felt I had to prove to myself that I could write a finish a book again first. Now it’s time to get off my self imposed island. We all need to remember to ask for help when we need it.

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

Yay for your awesome, if busy, weekend!

It was another quiet weekend here. I made apple-cranberry crisp yesterday to rave reviews (by Hubs, of course) and I also did scalloped potatoes with ham. And I wrote some new words on a book I started a couple years ago. I did a whole new beginning that I hope will spur me to greater words and get this book out of its stall. I DNF’d American Sniper. I just couldn’t get into it. =o( But I started reading a new fantasy mystery that is good so far. Other than that, yard work, woods work, cleaning… The usual.

Yay for Maggie’s happy weekend, and family time, and “getting off the island!” I’ve considered doing some Youtube videos–“Granny Panties” (me in a bathrobe etc) reading sexy bits from books. I’ve also considered a pod cast but have no idea what it would be about nor how to go about it. Youtube videos, yeah. Good luck with your pondering.

There was weekend. Saturday was busy. Sunday was quiet. I managed to get my word count in both days.

Other than that, I’m keeping my head down, ready to duck and cover if required.

    Have a great week!

The weather really has been a mix up this year. I feel bad for Maggie. When it rains like that I’m sure she doesn’t want to go for a walk.
With all the traffic and the rain it isn’t surprising that you saw accidents, but 4 is crazy. I sure hope every one was okay.

You had one very busy weekend. Even with all the family time you did quiet a bit of work. I give you tons of credit for working out all the marketing plans and even considering a podcast. I wouldn’t have a clue how to do one of those (but I don’t have a camera on my computer either).

We had a very nice anniversary dinner Saturday night. The restaurant has increased the volume of people by changing the seating and other remodels. Must have cost a fortune. Today is our actual anniversary so we’re having burgers and I bought some carrot cake 🥰.

The rug arrived yesterday. Thank goodness youngest was here. He did so much helping us lay it down. It has all kinds of waves in it at present. I sure hope they relax soon but if not I’ll just deal with it.

    Have a great afternoon!

B.E., that apple cranberry crisp sounds amazing! I’m sure the scalloped potatoes and ham were delicious too.

Sometimes rewriting an opening scene will spark that creative flow. I hope that’s the case for you. You know how often I stall out, so I feel your pain on it and am crossing my fingers that now you can’t type fast enough to keep up with the words.

Now that you said that about American Sniper, I think my son had told me it was dry and probably wouldn’t hold my interest since he knows my taste. But sounds like you found a great new read to capture you.

Cleaning and yard work never end, but you’re meeting the challenge.

    Happy Monday!

Silver, thanks on all, and I am determined to get off the island. I knew it was a career depression situation, but knowing it and breaking out of it are two different things.

Granny Panties is hilarious, but you might want to Google that to see what you’d be up against in the the search engines :-) But you could do it and your accent (I know, I’m the one who has an accent, LOL) would make you reading excerpts even better. As for me, I’m trying not to rule things out or just say no, so I listened and am considering. And I love that my kids care enough to offer suggestions, like Only does with you.

YAY for making your word count on Saturday and Sunday! I know you have a ton happening, plus still doing clean up from the ice storm for you and your neighborhood, so it’s an awesome accomplishment to make your word counts.

I hear you on duck and cover. I’m focusing on my life and what I can control.

Hope you hit your word count today!

Viki, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! I bet it was lovely to get out to a nice dinner you didn’t have to buy, prep and cook. I hope you have a nice evening tonight as well celebrating with carrot cake.

Maggie didn’t like the rain, but we’ve developed a routine that works well enough. And we needed the rain so I tried not to grumble. This week is cool and I love it.

I have a camera on my laptop but not my desktop. My tech support (my sons and daughters in law) will help me out. But I don’t know if I’ll do it, and I’m definitely trying to do too much. I figure I can hire help when things pick up or something, LOL. Better to be busy and learning than bored, or that’s my theory anyway.

I hope the rug relaxes and you love it. And yay for Youngest being there for the heavy lifting and maneuvering. I’m still sometimes surprised that i can’t do things I used to do 10 years ago. But at least we have grown kids willing to help, right?

Hope you have a lovely anniversary!
