TGIF! Here I am, once again, surprised it’s Friday already. And we all know what that means — time to share five random things about our week. Here’s mine:
- I have no idea what I did on Monday or Tuesday, but it was nothing fun.
- Wednesday I hung out with Daughter in law and Baby Girl. That was so fun. We took the dogs and the baby for a walk, and the rest of the time, I held her or fed her, and daughter in law and I talked (when she wasn’t getting other things done). It was fun for me to get away and out of my own head. Then when I got home, Wizard had finished fixing the water lines in the front planter and planting flowers in the whiskey barrels. I wanted to choose the flowers but I really appreciate him doing all the work. I’m actually amazed — he does all this while dealing with some physical challenges. He just learns to work around them, and go at a slower pace. I love that kind of determination!
- Yesterday I cleaned and cooked. I was exhausted. And then Maggie threw up on my clean floors. How do animals do that? I mean she could have done it BEFORE I washed the floor, right? She seemed fine after that, but of course, I’ll keep an eye on her. The throwing up in the middle of the day is weird, but she’d been obsessed by something out in the back yard, so I’m guessing she ate something she shouldn’t have. Then got rid of it on my clean floor
- Today I’m getting my hair cut and colored by someone new to me. My regular hair person is out recovering from surgery. I’ve wanted to change the color forever but keeping running into delays for months now. But then again, I’m probably chicken to do it Yeah, I think that might be it!
- This weekend, Oldest, Special K and Turbo are coming out for dinner. I’m making a dinner of probably tri tip and chicken that I can eat. The dessert is Special K’s choice (lemon cake!) and I’m fine with not being able to eat that. The important thing is being with family and celebrating Special K!
That’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Sounds like you had a busy week, so no wonder you can’t remember the beginning of it. Yay for Wizard planting flowers for you while you were out enjoying your new grandbaby. Dang it, Maggie. I’m sorry you had a yucky tummy, but not on mom’s freshly washed floors, eh? Yay for getting your hair spruced up. Yay for dinner with family!
1) I’m thinking about going fishing this morning. Just thinking about it, mind you. Whether I actually go is still up for debate.
2) All week, I’ve been marketing a free book offering. I hate giving away books, but it’s the only way I can think of to grow interest in my books (that doesn’t cost money.)
3) Yesterday, I decided to make battered fish fillets. I’m an old hand at breaded, but I’ve never tried to do battered before. The best thing I can say is that they were tasty and not bad for a first try. I’ll perfect the recipe eventually.
4) These past few days I’ve been working on proofreading Silver’s latest book. It’s a lot of book with loads of twists and interwoven storylines, but it’s pretty damn awesome. I reached 50% read last night. Woohoo.
5) As we approach the election, our freakin’ phone is ringing constantly. Yes, they finally got the phone fixed – just in time for pollsters to bombard us. We don’t answer and they don’t leave messages, but they’re clogging up my caller ID and it’s annoying.

Yay for family time! And you are blessed to have such awesome in-laws! Poor Maggie but it’s like cats. If they have a hairball, it’s coming up on carpet or a rug. That’s just the way the Universe works–rugs and clean floors. Yay for haircuts and what color do you want to change to? I guess I’m lucky that mine went ash blonde then silver and so I don’t have to worry about color anymore (and haven’t for years! Wiz is such a good guy. I’m glad his learning to work around and through the back thing. LG just bulls through and then pays for it for a couple of days. Men. Bless their hearts! And yay for more family time! My five:
1. LG went shopping and brought home some Snickers flavored canned coffee drinks from the dollar store. We decided they were okay but he didn’t need to buy them again. Too sweet for him (he’s not that into flavored coffee drinks–he drinks his black) and while it sort of tasted like a Snickers bar, it had that funky aftertaste from the artificial sweetner. Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
2. WE GOT FALL WEATHER! We even dropped below freezing one night. Woke up to a house that was 63 degrees. Yay for hoodie weather! It’s been nice all week but supposed to warm back into the low 80s next week. Ugh. I want Fall!
3. I hate when I get a particular image in my head when I’m looking for pics to use for marketing graphics. I might have to turn to AI (which I’ve had NO luck using to create images ) and see what happens. I mean, how hard can it be to find a poker game with mobster types in a smoky room? Ah well. I’ll figure something out because the line I want to use is a good one!
4. I’ve been thinking about my next project. Iffy has ideas–a can of worms I don’t necessarily want to open at this time. Then about 5 a.m. this morning, when I was in that dozing state of “I don’t wanna get up!”, she threw a name at me. Creede. ARGH! 🤦🏼♀️ NaNoWriMo is coming ASAP so I need to make some sort of decision (whether I officiall participate or not) on what’s next.
5. Pete is finally learning to sleep on the right side instead of the left so I don’t disturb him every time I get up in the night. Now he only moves over to the left when it is close to my wake-up time. He also refused to come inside until 3 a.m. this morning. I have no idea what he is guarding the garage from.
Football, baseball, and soccer this weekend. Also laundry. And more photo rabbit holes. Enjoy your dinner with Oldest, SpecK, and Turbo! And enjoy your pretty new front yard. 🥰

1. Sorry that Mon and Tues were nothing remarkable or fun.
2. Sounds like a perfect day with DIL and little one. God bless Wizard for battling through pain and issues to do nice things. He is a very good man.
3. Poor Maggie and really poor you. It is a fact that they will always puke on our just cleaned floors or even bedding.
4. I hope you love the stylist/colorist. I’m like you and think I want a big change but for some reason (I’m a chicken) it doesn’t happen. This time you’re a week ahead of me. My hair appointment is next Wed.
5. Have a lovely dinner with Turbo and his parents. Family time is the best time.
1a. Harrison and his family are on their way up here. They are coming to go to the Rock Hall Induction tomorrow and are staying with eldest’ mom. They are coming over here tomorrow morning to see hubs.
2a. We got double billed from the Cleveland Clinic – hospital and doc same charge. I spent forever on the phone with Anthem but they are addressing it for me. Such a nice man I spoke with who handled it for me. Should be all worked out in 30 days.
3a. I mailed all three of our ballots the other day.
4a. Hubs eyes have not gotten worse for the degeneration but his left eye got worse for sight so I have to take him back for a standard eye test and glasses. Monday I have to take hubs to the VA approved hearing exam.
5a. The second dyson V8 never shipped so I called and they overnight shipped a replacement. C & C love the one I bought them. I’ll open the second one tomorrow. I already cleaned all the floors today and really don’t want to look at a vacuum right now.
Have fantastic weekend!

B.E., this week has been a blur and I totally lost Monday and Tuesday, LOL. And Maggie was fine once she threw up, so that’s good.
1) I hope you went fishing and had fun!
2) Wish you a ton of free book downloads followed by sales! No promos I know work like they used too. But I’m sure there’s new ones out there that I’m not aware of (I’m so out of the game these days).
3) Sounds like you did pretty good for your first time using a batter! I rarely do batters, so I’m not much help.
4) Silver’s book sounds wonderful!
5) Ugh I hate election calls, mail, commercials, etc. This cycle feels like it’s gone on for a century. Sorry they are clogging up your Caller ID!
Have a great weekend!

Silver, my hair is pretty white, so I want to go to a base like that with lots of lowlights. I had this new lady cut is shorter again, and i like it. Wizard’s really been pushing through as much as he can too. And like LG, he sometimes pays for it for days too.
1) It’s great to try new things! And good to go back to our old favorites.
2) Yay for weather!!! We got cooler temps yesterday and high winds today. At least it’s not boring!
3) LOL!! Yep been there and spent days doing what you’re doing. I hope you find or create the perfect image!
4) Love the name!! Go with Creede and his story!
5) Um, do you want to know what Pete was guarding the garage from???? I’m glad he’s found a way to sleep through your bathroom trips.
Enjoy your sports filled weekend! And I really do hope you find the image you need (or can make fit your needs).

Viki, I liked this stylist. Once I gave her an idea of the cut, she worked fast and confidently, and shaped it to fit my face. But, yeah, I’m chicken to go close to full grey with lowlights. We’ll see.
1) Hope you have a good time with Hubs and Harrison!
2) Double billing is so annoying! But yay for connecting with someone at the insurance company who will fix it.
3) Good to get those out. Ours are filled out and ready to go.
4) That’s a lot of running hubs to appointments and hoping he cooperates. He’s so lucky to have you!
5) Glad they overnighted it to you! I’m still waiting for the vaccuum I ordered two weeks ago. It’s supposed to be here today. And that was really nice of you to get C&C a Dyson! I looked at one for me, but ultimately, bought a cheaper one (that may or may not get here today).
Have fun with Harrison and a great weekend!
