I feel guilty. Ever since I got my Kindle, I’ve been buying electronic books. Brick-and-mortar bookstores are in trouble and need my support, and what do I do? Buy electronic books. Even worse, I love reading with my Kindle.
I blame Biker Witch (my sister)–she got a Kindle first! She showed me how super cool it is. Yeah, it’s Biker Witch’s fault. As a penance, Biker Witch and I are going to have to do some serious spending in a bookstore! We’re good at that
But for now, I’m reading on my Kindle. I’m on a Harlequin Intrigue kick right now. First I read HelenKey Dimon’s NIGHT MOVES which is very plot focused. Now I’m reading WILD STALLION by Delores Fossem, which is a bit more character focused. I like the variety
Okay your turn, what are you reading?

I just got Evelyn Vaughn’s BURIED SECRETS for my NOOK. I have it somewhere in paperback. Now, I’m rereading it in ebook format while I wait for the new books I want to come out. Before that, I read her latest Silhouette title, UNDERGROUND WARRIOR. It’s the second in her BLADE KEEPERS series, which is a spin-off of her Bombshell series, THE GRAIL KEEPERS.

I dropped a bundle on books last week during my quarterly drive into the city, so that’s something for the brick-n-mortars. Of course, I also got Daughter a Nook for Christmas and she downloaded a bunch of ebooks. I guess we’re canceling each other out.
Right now, I’m reading one of my impulse new-to-me author buys: NIGHT CHILD by Jes Battis. It’s the first in an urban fantasy series about an Occult Special Investigations unit in Vancouver. So far, so good. Before that I read a YA by Kathy Reichs- VIRALS – and Karin Harlow’s ENEMY LOVER (which was wicked awesome, btw).

Don’t worry Jen, I’ll help keep the bookstores open, lol. At our last family breakfast we were discussing the e-readers and my cousin predicted that somewhere in the future paper books will be obsolute and E-Readers will take over the world. I’m actually horrified to think about that, there is just something about actual books that I love and would hate to see go by the wayside. I do see the benefits in the E-Readers though, for example step sister got one for her hubby so he could get his Newspaper and Magazine subscriptions on it instead of cluttering her house with all of them, and it is actually a green thing to do.
B.E. I so agree with you Karin Harlow’s “Enemy Lover” was awesome. Have you read any of her titles under Karin Tabke? If not you might like them too.
I recently finished two new authors for me. Eve Silver’s “Sins of The Heart” which I think is one Jen recommended, excellent book can’t wait to get the rest in the series. And Cheryl Brooks “Warrior”. This was a book I got because the store had the buy so many get one free deal going on and they didn’t have all the books on my list so I had a free book spot to fill. When I first started it I was a little put off to discover it was first person (I usually don’t like first person books), but after I got used to the change I got drawn into the story and actually enjoyed it a lot. I am planning on picking up the rest of the series somewhere down the line. My list just keeps growing and growing, lol.

B.E., I loved Karin’s ENEMY LOVER, and you’re right, wicked awesome! Karin’s very talented!
I feel better that you’ve been doing your part for brick and mortar bookstores
I hope your daughter loves her Nook!

Zoe, aww you reread Soul Magic, that’s so cool to hear! I hear the Bast series is good, I just haven’t read it yet. Or maybe I read the first one…hmm. I’ll have to check.
A lot of people truly love their paper books. Nothing wrong with that!

Val, I don’t think ereaders will take over the world. They’ll find their place like everything else. And if it did happen–it’d take generations, we all love our books too much!
Karin really is awesome!
Glad you liked Eve’s book! It’s very different.
Cheryl Brooks, huh? Dang another author to look for. I don’t mind first person, I just don’t want a steady diet of it.

Oh yeah, Val. I love Karin’s other books, too. She’s an incredible person and a helluva writer. =o)

I’m reading an ARC of Yasmine Galenorn’s BLOOD WYNE, which is in her Otherworld series. I won it, otherwise, I doubt I would have picked it up. I’m having a little trouble connecting to the characters as she doesn’t build in much reference to previous books. Also, the sexual preferences of some of the characters aren’t my “thing” but I can overlook that. It is a good story and I am reading to the end. As to whether I’ll seek out earlier books remains to be seen.
I just finished Allison Brennan’s LOVE ME TO DEATH and LOVED IT TO DEATH! LOL Taut and exciting writing.

Silver, I’m really glad to hear your thoughts on The Otherworld series.
Allison’s LOVE ME TO DEATH is on my list! Maybe I’ll read is sooner.
