Here’s What Happened

I”m back, but I’ll most definitely be hit and miss on the blog.

So the best laid plans…Wizard and I spent four weeks preparing for Christmas. The boys were all coming home (including Bailey Dog of course). Christmas Eve they all got there, and we all cooked dinner together and just had a blast. It was a great night…

Until it turned into a nightmare.

Two of my sons were playing around on a motorized scooter in front of the house. One of them fell directly in front of the house.  Long story short, he couldn’t get up and we had to call the paramedics.  He has suffered a very serious break in his leg. He had surgery Monday morning to stabilize the leg. Wednesday we had him moved home by ambulance.

It’s going to be a fairly long road to recovery and right now, he needs a lot of care.

I’ve got to tell you guys, this is a traumatically painful injury and this young man has been unimaginably tough. A true hero. I don’t know how he’s endured it. Even though Wizard and I are exhausted, stressed, worried and sore, he inspires us to keep going.

Now Bailey Dog :-) Bailey was here when we brought my son home.  It was utterly amazing. We put Bailey on the hospital bed (carefully) and he went nuts kissing and rubbing our injured boy. We let him stay there for a bit then put him down.

Bailey refused that and kept finding a way back on the bed. Bailey didn’t understand what was wrong, but he knew something was. He kept trying so hard to burrow close to our injured son and be super still so no one would move him. It killed us to take him off the bed after that but we just couldn’t chance him accidentally hitting the leg.

But Bailey is coming back this weekend (Injured son is desperate to see him) and we’ll rig up something to allow Bailey to spend more time with him.

Anyway that’s the story. For the first couple weeks, I won’t be able to write much. Then I hope to get back into a routine as I care for injured son.

Thank you all for your patience with me, and for all your kind thoughts!

Don’t worry about us. we are all moms and it doesn’t matter how old they are they still are our kids. I will light candles and pray for healing for all of you. You and wizard for your stress and strenght. Your son for his recovery. As for Bailey let him lay there beside him as much as possible. Aminals have amazing healing energy and help us to relax that they are better than flowers for recovery.

Jen, you do what needs to be done, not that you won’t! But remember to take care of you while taking care of everyone else. I know Wizard will look after you, too. I wish I was there to help. In the meantime, we’ll be sending healing spells, prayers and all manner of good thoughts your way. We’ll miss you but totally understand. Come back when you can. Until then, take care! ::HUGS::

Oh Jen, your poor son. Thank heaven he’s in good hands. I’m so happy you were able to bring him home. I know it’s going to be hard on you too and I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Isn’t it the truth about animals – they know when something is wrong and ALWAYS try to comfort us. As much as he was hurting I bet it but a spark into your son having Bailey up on the bed with him. I’m sure you’ll come up with something to protect his leg this weekend. Maybe a large box with semi-circle cut outs to go over his leg?

Don’t worry about anything but your son and let’s go for a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

OMG. I hope he’ll be okay. Does he need any books or anything to keep him company while he’s convalescing? Poor Bailey. All he knows is a member of the pack is wounded and he doesn’t know how to fix it. =o(

If you need anything, let me know and I’ll do what I can. I’m thinking of you all. Take whatever time you need. We’ll still be around to support you whenever you need it. :HUGS:

OH MY GOSH!! That is horrible.. but I think so many have already said it.. Do what you need to, we are moms we understand. Ok, you are going to do what you need to but don’t worry about us or what you are forgetting to do, or think you can do just a little bit more.. cuz yeah, we are moms and know what you are thinking!

As long as he is going to heal, you make sure he takes the time to do it right (you know boys)

You and Your Son are in my prayers.. as well as the rest of the family

Viki, he sooo wanted to see Bailey. We worked it out so Bailey would be there when he got home. That little dog is the best medicine. We’ll find a way to make it work.

Thanks Shiloh. It was such a shock. This is NOT the kid we expected something like this to happen to.

Shauni, I really appreciate that. He’s pretty smart about taking care of himself, and the plate/pins in his leg will keep him down for awhile.

    Moms all really do understand!

So sorry to hear your son is injured! Pain meds are a must, healing is much faster when the body is not bracing against the pain. Lots of sleep and good food also helps. Bailey sounds so wonderful, what a healing influence he will be! My prayers are with you :) Sending positive thoughts your way!
