Weekend Roundup

Broken Leg Boy is making progress.  He’s been able to go upstairs-slowly, carefully and with one of us there. I’m writing this blog on Sunday night, but hopefully we both slept upstairs last night. That’s exciting because for a month now, I’ve been sleeping in an airbed next to his hospital bed.  My body will go into shock in a real bed :-)

In other news, I am making progress on FORBIDDEN MAGIC, which is the working title of Ram’s novella. I’m really happy about that. I”m learning to write more quickly in compressed time. We do what we have too :-)

Much to our amusement, Wizard is getting really attached to Bailey.  Bailey comes out most weekends, and hangs out. When he goes home, all Wizard talks about is Bailey. Cracks us up!  Saturday morning it was raining. Bailey came barreling down the stairs, heading right for the sliding to go out. I opened the door and he heard the rain. The dog skidded to a halt, stuck his nose out the door and shook his head. Then he ran to Broken Leg Boy’s bed and hid.

What a baby. He’ll protect Broken Leg Boy with his life, but cower from a little rain?

How was your weekend?

Oh how sweet is Bailey  I can pictures the skid marks his little paws would have made coming to an abrupt halt.

Going up and down stairs with crutches takes practice. It’s good you’re there.

I didn’t realize that you haven’t been sleeping in your bed all this time. You must be even more exhausted than I had thought. Your body is going to be so happy to get off the air mattress.

Forbidden Magic – I like it!

Rain is scary stuff for a little dog. It’s like being attacked from the sky. Thousands of water pellets pelting him from above. Poor thing. I’m so glad Wizard is falling in love with Bailey. After all this is over and BLB is back on his feet, it might be time for you to get your own pooch. ;o)

Yay for maybe sleeping in a real bed last night. I hope you managed it.

I finally finished that really long book I’ve been slogging through for the past week (Captains and the Kings – Taylor Caldwell). I’m also getting close to finishing this latest WIP. All I have left to write is the climax and a short denouement. And then I can jump into editing my urban fantasy – hopefully for the last time.

Yay for BLB making it up the stairs! That will help so much if he can start sleeping in a real bed (and you, too!!!) and y’all can get that awful hospital bed out of the living room. And double yay for progress on FORBIDDEN MAGIC. LOVE the title!

I had a marathon session at chapter meeting Saturday. I was there early, during the morning critique session for unpubs, waiting from some of my NRCA coordinators to come by to pick up their packets because they couldn’t make it to the meeting. That was okay because I finished revising FAERIE FOOL and started on the synopsis. After lunch, program, business meeting, there was a budget/finance committee meeting that lasted two hours. I was pooped by the time I got home. Sunday, I finished polishing the synopsis and query and emailed everything off to my editor. It’s not a sure thing that the publisher will pick up the third book in the series but I’m hopeful. I think this one might actually be my favorite of the three. Considering what a pain it was to write, that’s funny! Yeah, Rory was giving me the same grief Ram is giving you! ;)

I fly out at oh-dark in the morning for a week in Florida but I’ll have net so I’ll be checking in! Happy Monday, witches.

Viki, how was your weekend? You didn’t say :-)

It’s much harder to get out of the hospital bed than a regular bed, so I felt I needed to be near him at night. I’m normally not a super overprotective mother…until something like this happens evidently. And much to my surprise, BLB hasn’t minded at all.

The stairs are more difficult going up as he absolutely cannot touch his foot or toes to the ground yet. But he’s doing it.

Bailey never fails to amuse us! Much like PeeWee does the same for you!

B.E., that’s super that your so close to finishing! You write fast and I’m jealous. I’m also very proud of you! I know you’ve struggled with doubts, but you haven’t given up!

Bailey, frankly, knows he can play me. It’s pretty funny. I take zero crap from him when I give him a command and he obeys because he knows I mean it. But other stuff–he totally has me wrapped around his paws. He can talk me into treats, and he tries to hide by me when the boys tell him to go in his kennel. He NEVER does that when I’m not there. He’s just playing me cuz he knows I’m soft that way.

Silver, congrats on getting FAERIE FOOL finished and sent! I know you fought that book, but your conquered it! Now I’m anxiously waiting with you :-)

I don’t know how you did all that on Saturday–you made me tired just reading it!

I’d love to get rid of the hospital bed! We’ll see, I Think we need it another week, partly just in case, and party because it’s the best place for his exercise machine he has to do for hours. That bed was a lifesaver, but I do want it gone :-)

Hey Jenn you’re right I forgot to say how my weekend went. I’ve been sick so I was still moving kind of slow.
We still took the family out to dinner Sat. PeeWee’s dad is an artist so this isn’t surprising but he’s been making movies with PeeWee as the star. We were entertained by them while awaiting dinner.
It’s funny how our boys allow us to do certain things when they’re laid up that they’d NEVER allow if they were in tip top condition. If he still can’t put his foot down at all he must be very frustrated. Thank heaven for Mom and Bailey :).

Viki, I hope you kick the end of that virus soon. You’ve been really sick. But glad you got to go out and enjoy dinner with the family.

Too cute on the PeeWee movies! I bet they are adorable!

So true on our boys :-)
