Today we see BLB’s regular doctor to get him up to date and a referral to a new surgeon. Basically, I’m spending Monday through Friday driving (at least 20 minutes each way) and waiting. It’s unbelievable. But entirely necessary so no whining!
I think I’ll just have to skip the gym entirely for these two weeks, then I think (HOPE AND PRAY) BLB can drive.
But things are better every day and I’m thrilled about that!
In my “other” life as a writer I am multitasking like a mad woman. I am:
1) Working on self pubbing Ram. Waiting on the editor, and in turn, the formatter is waiting. In the meantime, I’m setting up all the accounts to self pub and taking care of other “business” items related to that.
2) Getting the dragons ready to go. I need to recheck one section of the synopsis, then edit the entire package. It’ll go to my agent next week. She is waiting.
3) And working with my agent on a another submission that my she suggested. The proposal is done, we just had to do some housekeeping like change the title. Try to come up with a new title in an hour or two–nothing like a little pressure.
The writing portions I try to do on my laptop while BLB is in physical therapy, and for an hour or two in the afternoon. The rest I do as I get time. It’s amazing what we can get done when we focus.
One of the things I’m not doing though? Reading. That sucks. I did all the contest reading and friend reading I needed to do, but very little pleasure reading. When I do stop at night, I just don’t have the energy to get invested in a book.
Are you guys finding time to read? What am I missing out on?

Oh I feel for you. You must be exhausted. Hopefully things will work out well and you’ll get back into your normal routine soon.
Did I read it right, BLB may be able to drive soon? He must be itching for that moment.
Not being able to read :(. It drives me mad when I don’t have time to read. It seems to be my way of relaxing. There’s nothing better than going to bed with a book in my hand. I hope you get some energy back so you can get back to reading but you have been “a little” busy.

Yay for BLB maybe getting behind the wheel again soon. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you both. Sounds like he’s making awesome progress. =o)
Sorry you haven’t had time to read lately. But at least you’re managing to get some work done in the limited time you have. Reading will be there once things even out again. (And any good new releases will be waiting for you.) The only reason I can read so much is because I really have very little else going on in my life. The kid’s at school, the Hub’s at work, and here I am, hiding in my hermit hole – reading, writing and watching TV. (Sometimes reading and watching TV at the same time.)

Crossing fingers on BLB getting the go ahead to drive! That will help a lot–plus it means he’s well on track to recovery. I read hard and heavy for a bit then took a break to read and critique a friend’s WIP. I should have been writing that whole time but I just couldn’t get in the groove. And now I can’t get in the groove for reading, either. I scroll through the books on my Kindle and nothing jumps out. The same with the books on my TBR shelves. Of course, I’m still not writing either. I really need to break the cycle.

Viki, I may be ahead of ourselves on driving, but I’m really hoping. His therapist is cautious, worried his leg could lock up on longer drives. But if he’s able to do short drives in the next week and a half, that would be a huge help. He’d like it too
I don’t read in bed cuz i don’t like to bug Wizard. But I *used* to read after he went to bed. Now BLB is with me, so we’re talking or watching TV. But I’m with you, reading can relax or distract me and i miss it. I’m going to make an effort!

B.E., it’s nice that you have this time after raising your kid. Enjoy it!
I’ve made it a priority to work when I can over reading. Or I just feel guilty. I would like some income to offset the bills!
I used to read and watch TV, but it’s harder for me to do that now.

Silver, I know you’ve really been struggling. A lot of it probably is your insomnia too (I’m assuming you’re still fighting that). Exhaustion strips us of the will to do anything.
Maybe try readings a genre totally out of your comfort zone, or non fiction? I don’t know if it’ll work, but we have to keep trying!

I hope everything works out for BLB’S and the driving. Even being able to take short drives is such a liberating thing when you can’t drive. I’ll keep my fingers crossed!
I’m not able to read as much as I’d like right now either. I’ve got so much paperwork sitting on my desk that I’d really like to avoid, but just can’t anymore. What I really need is a wife to do all these things for me!
But I did finally get 2 books read in the past week:.LJ McDonald’s QUEEN OF SYLPHS and Patricia Briggs’ FAIR GAME.

Glad you found the time to read two book.
