Weekend Roundup

What a weekend!

On Saturday, we had Wizard’s birthday. Poor Wizard was still sick, but it tuned out great anyway. Wizard wanted to keep it small so it was just our three sons and their awesome wife/girlfriends. Wizard and I love these girls! So Middle Son’s girlfriend is the cook in the family and I asked her to “prep” the ground meat for hamburger.

Wizard, however, likes plain ground meat, not “prepped and seasoned” meat. This was hilarious. Middle Son’s girlfriend had all the meat in a bowl and kept waiting for something to distract Wizard to add more ingredients. I’m dying laughing at the antics of her and Wizard. Finally I shooed Wizard out of the kitchen proclaiming. ‘My girls are helping me cook. I’ve waiting years for girls. Out. They are mine!” So Wizard goes out back and looked in through the kitchen widow, begging her to stop “prepping.”

Seriously I think I was crying laughing my then.  The hamburgers were delicious!

Plus the three boys and their girls surprised Wizard with a new BBQ for his birthday. Wizard loves it.  The day turned out special for him. (It was a special birthday and we want him to know what he means to us).

And Bailey is with us for a week!

So late Sunday afternoon, Bailey was out back playing, I was on the laptop looking at houses (also playing), and Wizard went into the kitchen to pour some wine for us, when he said, “Oh crap!” A pause then,  “Holy *S#@t”

Uh oh, this can’t be good. So I get up and ran to the sliding glass door  and stopped in shock. Bailey had chased a lizard…

And by lizard, I mean and MONSTER lizard that is eighteen inches long!

…up the screen of the sliding glass door. And as we’re standing there, Bailey leaps up and grabs his tail, dragging him down.

Apparently, I told Bailey to “Drop it.” And Bailey did–I have no memory of doing that though but Wizard said it happened and I believe him.  I also opened the screen door and ran out to grab Bailey. I barely remember that.

Then the MONSTER LIZARD burrowed in the track between the screen door and the slider and we were terrified it’s going to get into the freaking house. And the thing is HISSING at Wizard.

Long crazy story short , Wizard was able to get the MONSTER LIZARD out of our yard.

Okay, so we know those things are up in our ice plant on our hill, but they never come down, Never bother us. What we “think” happened is that Bailey was up in the ice plant, saw it and chased it down. Wizard said he chased that sucker all the way across the patio. Wizard thinks Bailey was picking it up, then dropping it and chasing it again.

Let me tell you, that little dog is fearless.  Wizard is seriously impressed.

But man, I hope that’s our big adventure for the week. I’m telling you, that thing was BIG! And I don’t want it in my house!

Wizard however gave Bailey a treat and told him he’s Super Awesome Dog.

How was your weekend?

I love Mondays :). You always put a smile on my face with your recap of the weekend.

Poor Wizard ;). I can imagine the antics going on in your kitchen. I love how you got him out of there. Pulling the “I finally have girls” card was ingenious. Now did he love his prepped burger? I bet he did.

How nice of the “kids” to get him a new BBQ. We all love a brand new cooking device. In fact we need a new one and you’ve now planted a seed in my brain ;).

Gotta love Bailey! He is a true protector of the land! He isn’t all that big and to be taking down a MONSTER lizard – he’s a hero. He must have been having SO much fun with it too. Does he get all super happy with the praise he gets for nailing the thing?

My little guy did some hunting yesterday too. He caught an ant (one of those super small little suckers came in at the slider), a beetle that hubs accidentally brought in, and a Japanese beetle. He was very proud of himself but not happy when his treasure was taken away. But then he got a treat and was happy :).

Thank you again for starting my day with a grin!

    Have a wonderful day :).

OMG, I never thought of that – you finally have girls. Yay you! (I know how much you love your boys, but yay anyway.) And Wizard’s so funny. I’m glad he had a nice birthday. I hope his grill is awesome. You’ll have to let us know. =o)

Oh, that Bailey dog! What a hoot. He probably was catching it and then letting it go so he could catch it again. My old dog used to do that with squirrels.

Our weekend was definitely less exciting than yours. I did ancestry stuff. And Hubs spent the weekend trying to find a way to get the orange paint off the house without breaking the bank or his back. We’ve spent a whole year here now. Yay! Today we’re getting electrical work done and Friday we’re getting the house and yard sprayed for bugs. Also yay.

I got my side of the bedroom put back together and straitened out. After putting down the flooring. My husband still has 5 totes and 3 laundry baskets of stuff to deal with. I swear that if I can get a garage built with a room above it next year I am going move up there and leave the rest of the house to him and the kids.

There is a children’s book there somewhere in the adventures of Baily and the Lizard.

All birthdays should be about relaxing with the family and having fun. Oh and great gifts like new BBQ’s too.

Also Jen I love the Monthly news letter. It looks great.

Okay, I want to know what kind of MONSTER lizard this was. Considering where you live, my first thought was a baby Gila Monster. Bravo, Bailey!

Wiz is too funny. I hope he loves the new girl. I love that you have girls! Wanna know something? I bed Wiz loves that *he* has girls, too! Just sayin’. ;)

I didn’t get nearly enough work done this weekend, but we celebrated Baseball Boy’s birthday (real date Friday, family celebration Sunday) at Toby Keith’s restaurant. And I got to hold the Magic Bean Sprout. He’s growing like that proverbial weed! And such a sweet baby. Unlike his mother.

    Have a great week everyone!

Viki, Yay for your kitty! He’s turning into quite the little hunter. Catching the ant would make me happy–I hate when they get in my house. I bet he was mad that you took the beetle away though!

Wizard has needed a BBQ for quite a while now, ours is about 18 years old. It’s ridiculous. The boys wanted to get him something special and he’s very happy. I originally wanted to do something bigger as it’s a special birthday, but this was what Wizard wanted and he was happy.

    He liked the burgers!

Bailey was very proud of himself! He’s surprised Wizard a few times with how protective and fearless he is. It’s hard to describe the whole thing–it was crazy.

B.E., a year!! Wow time flies! You guys sound happy and settled there, it seems to have worked out like you hoped. Even with the orange paint–my back hurts just thinking about that. Getting the electrical done and the yard sprayed will be two more goals off your list!

Wizard and I both love “having girls” now. They are awesome and they had great parents who did all the hard work, we just get to enjoy them :-)

I’m pretty sure that while I was sitting with my back to the window, house-dreaming and showing Wizard, Bailey was engaged in the Monster Lizard Battle and we didn’t even notice. Probably could have been a You Tube video, LOL!

Kat, thank you on the newsletter! That’s Carla’s (my assistant) work. She really does a great job, and I’ll pass along your compliment to her.

    Bet your floor is beautiful!

LOL on the room over the garage. I have felt like that so many times!

Baileys keeps us laughing, that’s for sure.

Silver, I’m not sure, maybe an alligator lizard. I don’t think it was a gila monster, I believe it had the longer tail, and scales. It also could swim.

Wizard loves his girls, he was wearing a t-shirt Special K had brought him back from Costa Rica. I teased him all day for “Being a suck up to Special K” he just grinned. And Special K loves it too.

I saw the picture of you and Magic Bean! Love your new hair cut, but mostly I stared at the beautiful baby boy! And man, he’s big! Happy Belated Birthday to Baseball Boy!
