Weekend Roundup

Trivia Question for you all: What happens when a CPA decides to play soccer?  Answer at bottom of this blog :-)

So this weekend was excellent!  Wizard and I went to Las Brisas in Laguna Beach for our anniversary dinner. We got a table with a beautiful view of the sunset over the ocean and really enjoyed our evening. I had an apple martini, which I haven’t had in years.  It was a lovely night.  On Saturday I went to lunch with a friend and ended up in a kitchen store. Once in there, we came up with the idea of taking a cooking class together. I’m not sure when we’ll be able to do it, but I’m really excited. I need to do something different and get out of my head a little bit. And we both enjoy cooking. So I had another great day.

Then I came home and found out what happens when a CPA plays soccer…but more on that later :-)

So then Youngest Son and Girlfriend came by with Roxy, she is Girlfriend’s dog who they recently discovered has cancer. But Roxy is doing AWESOME. She’s getting treatment and is already in remission. She looked fantastic and charmed both Wizard and me with her sweet playfulness, and wanting to cuddle.  She lays her head on my shoulder to cuddle :-)

Then Middle Son and his girlfriend have decided to have Thanksgiving and I’m thrilled and excited about that. This is the first time they are hosting a family holiday.  It’s going to be awesome. Plus of course, Bailey will be there.

And Sunday, I wrote my first almost effortless pages in this book. And by book…I mean a ton of pages on stuff that I need to know about the character and plot but will never get into the actual finished book. So once I looked down and realized I’d written a chunk of pages and done well, I stopped and walked away to relax. That way when I go back to it today, I’ll be fresh and excited to keep going!

Seriously a great weekend, except…

CPA Boy (oldest son) is okay. He and Special K play on an adult soccer team, he took a tumble and fractured the wrist of his dominant hand. It looks like it’s a small fracture according to Urgent Care. He’ll get the final verdict once he sees an orthopedic this week. Right now, the wrist and thumb are immobilized in a splint, his pain is mild and everything is fine that than he’s bored and annoyed at being limited to one hand. CPA is also a serious weight lifter and even more serious about his job, so that’s frustrating for him, but he’ll heal and be fine.

So now you know what happens when a CPA tries to be a weekend warrior on the soccer field :-)

How was your weekend?

I knew CPA boy couldn’t have been too bad, because you wouldn’t tease about it if he was. But still :hugs:. I’m so glad you had an awesome anniversary. Your FB pics were great. You guys look so happy. =o) I hope you get to take your cooking class. You deserve a brain break. Yay for writing effortless pages! Fingers crossed they keep coming for you.

I got back to work this weekend and finished the final editor-edits. Then I uploaded it to my Kindle for a last read-through. I’m hoping to get that done today so I can format it and set it up for pre-order. Now that I have a new cover for Wish in One Hand, I’ll be getting the artist started on developing a cover for the next book in the series – In Deep Wish. That sucker is do to my editor by the first week in December, so I need to get cracking on that as soon as BloodFlow is up. Busy busy. For breaktime, I’ve been playing in the woods – clearing my trails and stuff. =o)

B.e., you’re right, I wouldn’t tease if it was bad. CPA Boy really is okay.

Thanks on the FB pics :-)

You have a lot of tasks on your plate for this week! I love that your break time is clearing trails in the woods. I’m pretty sure if you and I were competitors on Survivor you’d win by the end of the first day!

CPA Boy needs to move into a padded environment. Just sayin’!!!! ;)

The restaurant looked amazing and what a view! You and Wiz look so happy. No big surprise because I know y’all are. :D

Cooking class, huh? Cool beans. My dad did that back in the day. Ended up with his Cordon Bleu designation. I hope you can find a mutually good time. Go have fun! And will there be a chef character at some point? Hrmmm???

Weekend–I mostly took it easy. Working now but not pushing too hard. The words are coming. I need to sit back and let them. :D Have a great week!

Sounds like a truly wonderful weekend! (jealous but happy for you)
Not much happened around here – went to Texas Roadhouse though so got some some (as my youngest would say) cowy goodness! And I do not have a sweet tooth but I do love their buns ;)
Falling behind on NaNo but not for lack of thinking of my story, just can’t seem to get the words out when I sit down at the keyboard.

So glad CPA boy didn’t get hurt worse. Keep us updated – I will need all the details as my MFC just broke her hand in a fall and I’m not sure yet how long to keep her mini cast on

Poor CPA boy. A broken wrist stinks. I feel for him not being able to lift for few weeks, that’s killer.

So happy you had such a nice anniversary dinner. It looked so pretty being able to look out at the ocean.

Other than CPA boys injury I’m glad you had a good weekend.

We had a nice pre-anniversary dinner Sat. It was beautiful seeing the city all lit up while we ate :). Youngest enjoyed his dinner too :).

I hope your Monday has been great!

Silver, CPA Boy does a lot of crazy stuff, including zip lining…so you know, this is pretty minor all things considered.

I’m sure I’ll have a chef character someday! Very cool on your dad! We are looking to do something a little less ambitious.

If the words are coming for you, then you’re smart to sit back and let them!

Niki, we have a Texas Roadhouse in our area, we’re going to have to try it.

If you’re showing up at you’re keyboard and trying, then it’s my opinion that the actual word count doesn’t matter. You’re there and trying! The words will come.

I could not figure out MFC (I must be slow today), but whoever she is, hope she heals quick.

Viki, you know exactly how CPA Boy feels on having to sit out weight lifting for a while. He was doing amazing too. But accidents happen so we deal.

I think your anniversary is today, so HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Glad your dinner was good!

Hey Jenn, sorry MFC = Main Female Character. It took me a bit to pick up on that one too but when someone used MMC right after it one day, the light went on ;)
