TGIF!!! Every week is the same thing–I wake up on Monday, blink, and suddenly it’s Friday! Now it’s time to share five random things about our week. Here are mine:
- It’s just over two weeks until Middle Son’s wedding! I’m really excited! So…you’re all gonna laugh. I returned dress number 3 and I’m going to wear a dress I already have. I think I’ve worn it once to a publisher cocktail party in a state I don’t even remember. I think it’ll be ok. I just can’t find something I want that fits and is in my budget.
- Speaking of budget. Since I’m not buying a dress, I booked a hair appointment to have my hair done in an updo. Then I told Wizard how much it costs.I think he took it well I may change my mind and cancel it, but I can’t hold my arms up long enough to put my own hair up.
- Tuesday, I went to lunch and shopping with Biker Witch (my sister). For lunch, we ordered two small plate appetizers to share, then split a piece of key lime cheesecake. So good! Then I found a pair of really cute shoes with a three-inch wedge heel. I very wisely put them back, after all I’m having neck surgery! So what did I do then? I came home and ordered them online. Forty minutes later, I knew that was stupid, so I called to cancel the order (with J.C. Penney) and was told it’s too late, they had already shipped. REALLY???? Color me doubtful. Anyway, I’ll likely be taking those back. Maybe
- We went to see Baby Slayer yesterday for a while. Special K tried to go in her office and work while we were there (she’s working on her master’s degree). But every time she hears us exclaim over something Baby Slayer does, she comes running out saying, “What did he do? What did I miss?” She’s such a great mom! She’s doing excellent in school too. And in case anyone wonders, my son, CPA Boy is the best dad ever. He adores both his wife and son, as he should.
- This last one some of you many want to skip. One or two people have asked me about this surgery on my neck, and I’ll give you some details here now that I’ve made my decision and am just waiting for a surgical date, most likely late October or November. The procedure is a two-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF). So they have to go in through the front of my neck, and will make the incision from one side of my neck to the center, Once in there, they will nudge my esophagus and some nerves aside (I gagged the first time I heard this) to make room. Once they get to my spine, they will removed two disks at C4/5 and C5/6, replace those with donor bone, and clean up all the fragments that have migrated out from the degeneration of the two discs. Then they’ll make sure everything lines up as best they can, and put in a plate and screws to hold it together (that’s the fusion), and they’ll close up. It’s going to be a long recovery. I’ll have to wear a collar for two, possibly three months, and it can take a year or more for the bones to fuse (grow) together. This surgery is pretty successful, although I’ll lose some movement in my neck. I can’t turn my neck all the way now, so I’ll probably adjust to that fine. Yes, there are risks, but at this point, I’m willing to try. But now you all know why I tried so hard to avoid this. However, I’m ready to get it done and be able to live and write again. If you want to know more, you can go to YouTube and find animation videos.
Okay that’s my 5 now it’s your turn to share yours! Hope everyone has a great weekend. I plan to try, again, to write because I never give up!

You’re so funny with your shopping. I think you’ll be beautiful no matter what you choose to wear or how you do your hair. Yay for Baby Slayer! And yep, that sounds exactly like the surgeries I saw on Supervet. Kinda gross to watch, but the dogs were totally fixed afterward.
1) I have loads of book stuff to do this weekend. Only part of it includes writing.
2) I finally got my Createspace letter so I can start moving my paperbacks over to Amazon. We’ll see how that goes.
3) I started a book last night. The premise is interesting and the writing is fun (except for the numerous typos). But I don’t like the MC. And I don’t see that changing. Bummer.
4) Our fawns are losing their spots. There’s one who’s already spotless. He looks like a mini-me deer. I need to get pics, but they’re never here when the light is right.
5) Yesterday I bought some new clothes. Sweat socks and t-shirts to sleep in, but that’s still clothes, right? I’m totally living the fashionista dream. ;o)

B.E., that’s oddly comforting that the surgery worked in dogs, LOLOL! Baby Slayer makes us incredibly happy.
1) Sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead.
2) Really? I hope I didn’t miss my Createspace letter. I’ll go check at the site this weekend. Good luck moving your books!
3) So do you love the book enough to make up for your unlikable MC? It sounds that way, like maybe, we’re not supposed to like him or her?
4) The fawns are growing up. Hope you can get a picture.
5) Sweat socks and sleep T’s totally count. I have trouble remembering to buy socks when I need them! Since I see people everywhere in pajamas these days (Is that a CA thing?), I’d say you’re practically a fashion icon
Hope you have a productive and fun weekend!

Now I wish I’d started a dress pool. You’ll be gorgeous no matter what! Wait! ACDF? Isn’t that a rock band? You’ll do fine with the surgery.
As for my five…
1) I got the color break for BILLIONAIRE COUNTRY, my March Red Dirt/Billionaires & Babies release from Harlequin. Dude! Can’t wait until I can reveal the cover.
2) I also got the line edits back. Working on them. Sort of.
3) I keep getting distracted…
4) It’s monsoon raining outside.
5) My favorite pizza place is closing the local location. If I want their pizza, I have to drive almost 20 miles roundtrip starting the first of next month.
On that note, have an awesome weekend, everyone!

1. That’s so funny about dress #3. I’m sure the dress you’re going to wear will be perfect.
2. Ha Ha! I love the cartoon :). It’s your son’r wedding and you can’t do your hair up yourself so it’s worth splurging and having it done professionally.
3. We are very much alike. I would have done exactly the same thing with the shoes as you did. I most likely would return them after they stared at me from the closet for a few days :).
4. Yes! Baby Slayer :)! Special K is a very in tuned mom and it’s wonderful that she can see James do his “thing.” Bet you had a blast with him.
5. Thank you for the details on your neck surgery. Maggie is going to be a good nurse (not quite like Bailey) and help you through the recovery. I will be sending up prayers.
1a. Hurt my left foot on the ellipse. Seems I’m twisting it and when I try and bring it back I do something to the top tendon running up the foot from the big toe :(.
2a. It’s SO hot right now but tomorrow Fall returns and I am really looking forward to it :).
3a. Hope to have dinner with middle on and wife tomorrow at Bonefish. Haven’t seen them since my birthday in August.
4a. The Browns finally won a football game last night. People got free beer and are very happy. I don’t really care about football anymore.
5a. The Woolybear festival is this weekend. It’s a HUGE celebration of the little caterpillar and his winter weather prediction ;).
Have a great weekend :)!

Silver, you should have started a dress pool! I usually find something with very little fuss. But the dress I have should be fine, the important thing is the bride and groom. LOL ACFD does sound like ACDC
1) Ohhh, the cover must be stunning! Can’t wait to see it!
2) Hope the edits are a breeze.
3) Squirrel!
4) Rain? I’ve heard of it…
5) Bummer on your pizza place.
Have a great weekend!
