Friday Five
TGIF!! Don’t ask me where time goes! I’m doing this quickly after a long day on Thursday, so let’s count all my typos Here’s my 5 random things about my week:
- Yesterday was a marathon, I think we put over a 150 miles on the car. First we went out to visit Turbo. Special K works from home now, so we watched him for a couple of hours. It was a blast as always to play with him! After that, we came home, took care of Maggie, then headed out for another long drive to meet a friend for dinner, and had more fun.
- I found shoes to go with my dress for Youngest Son’s wedding in November! It took a lot of searching as I need 3 1/2 inch heels to work with the long dress I’m wearing, but since I have the RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) everywhere including my feet, plus having had neck surgery, it’s a challenge. I really jazzed as I think I’ll be able to tolerate these heels and really like them. I’m going to look for a pair of inexpensive nude-colored sandals to change into later at the reception when no one will care if my dress drags on the ground a little bit. Everyone will be looking at the bride, my beautiful daughter-in-law, anyway! I wore the shoes last night to start breaking them in, and am very hopeful. And the shoes are nude colored, so I can wear them again if I want to.
- Saturday we are going out again to babysit Turbo so my son and Special K can go out to a lovely dinner to celebrate their anniversary. Maggie is very excited because she gets to go with us this time.
- Next weekend, Wizard and I are going up to Paso Robles to do some wine tasting with Middle Son and his amazing wife. They are camping in their super nice trailer, and we’re staying in a hotel. Shh, don’t tell Maggie, but she’s not going on this trip even though Middle Son is bringing his dogs. I know, not fair, right? I feel bad, but we haven’t really conditioned Maggie to traveling and staying in pet-friendly hotels, so she’s probably better off at the boarding.
- I rewrote a scene and I think it works. And I might even have more time to write today after my early morning hair appointment.
Now I’d really like to hear five random things about your week! I have everyone has a great weekend!

Sounds like you had an awesome, if busy, week and some awesome things to look forward to. Yay for new shoes! And, as always, yay for Turbo time! Way to go on rewriting that scene!
1) It’s been raining like crazy here. Mostly short spurts that dump a lot of rain in a little time, but today’s rain started last night and it’s not stopping any time soon. Strange for August, but we’ll take it.
2) I don’t want to talk about my writing. I’m happy for you and for others who are accomplishing their goals, but right now, I feel like talking about my stuff is just making the not-writing thing worse. Besides, I feel like Wanda Whiner every time I talk about it these days.
3) Yesterday afternoon, Hubs went for his long walk and he’d said he was going to take it slow, so I wasn’t really worried when he wasn’t back in his usual 45 minutes, but when an hour and 15 rolled by, I was this close to mounting a search party. And that’s when he came home. Turns out he got waylaid by some neighbors and spent almost the entire time talking. After the chat, he gave up on the walk and came home. He joined me on my hard-target walk after dinner.
4) He did learn during the chat that the guy who owns the vacant lot north of us will be getting his property surveyed and will start building a house there. We’ll finally know where our third property marker is – yay – but we’ll lose the wilderness over there – boo. It also harshes our dream of one day owning that lot. :sniffle:
5) I’ve been spending a lot of time on Pinterest lately, looking at pretty pictures and inspiring quotes, and just basically dropping out of anything unpleasant online. News sucks? Oh, look at this cute puppy or this gorgeous landscape or this awesome artwork. What can I say? It works for me.

What typos? And yeah, crazy week time-wise. I swear there’s a wrinkle in time and I keep getting caught in it. Fun times and trips in your past and future. Yay for shoes! Trust me, I know how big a deal this is!!! My five:
1) After many do-overs because my brain is Swiss cheese, I got the Nightrider series fixed and uploaded places. Then D2D kicked some back because they were still KU. Except they weren’t. Anyway, still fighting over two of the books to go live. Grrr.
2) I got a few new words written on a book with a Jan/Feb release in one of Susan Stoker’s worlds. I need to split time between projects.
3) LG convinced me to go look for a new kitchen faucet (old one leaks) and a big T-storm blew up while we were in Lowe’s. Got the faucet, soaked, and took us almost an hour to get home due to raining so hard. Weatherman said it was raining 5″ per hour. Good thing it didn’t sit on top of us for that long! At least it broke the heat. For a day or two.
4) Ghost Hunters is back. Yes, I’ve missed the show. Yes, I’m all weird like that. 😂
5) I’m relistening to the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews in prep for the new release next week. I’m always amazed by how much I totally love this series.
Have a great weekend. Tomorrow is LG’s B-day. He wants low-key. We’ll see.

1. You sure made it all over the place yesterday. I’d say you definitely did the marathon. Playing with Turbo made up for all the time in the car though, right :)?
2. Yes! Good job on the shoes. You’re smart to find a low shoe for the reception. Then you can dance the night away.
3. Maggie is going to have so much fun babysitting Turbo. You know that is how she will look at it. It’s her job to take care of him.
4. Sounds like a fun weekend coming up. I’d be in a hotel too ;). I won’t tell Maggie.
5. Great news on the writing. Hope you had a great hair appointment and a really wonderful day.
1a. I must clean the deck windows tomorrow. They are a mess again from heavy rain.
2a. It’s been a beautiful day except for the rag weed. I had to run some errands this morning and have been paying ever since I stepped out of the house :(.
3a. We are scheduled for the driveway tear out Monday and pour Tuesday pending no rain. Fingers crossed. Generator and new gas line and meter are going in Sept 9th and 10th.
4a. Having my hair done Monday. Hope I’m home when drive people arrive so I can instruct them before I leave.
5a. Hubs and I are watching Harrison all afternoon Sunday while his parents go to the orchestra.
Silver – Happy birthday to LG! I need a new faucet in the kitchen too. Mine doesn’t turn anymore :(. Hubs doesn’t care – he doesn’t do dishes ;).
Have a great weekend!

B.E., let’s get right to you:
1) That does seem strange for August.
2) I feel for you B.E., as I’ve been in the boat for two years. I have a good day then back circling the drain. Believe me, I know how it feels.
3) Neighbors can get in the way of our best intentions sometimes. But good for hubs for joining you for your walk!
4) Sorry you’ll lose some view and part of your dream
5) You don’t have to explain to me! I avoid life on YouTube now. I watch dog training, comedy stuff, and a cool young woman who is blind and has a guide dog. Real life is just a little too real sometimes.
Hope you have a good weekend, B.E.!

Silver, thanks on the shoes and understanding. I shouldn’t do heels, but I just want to at least for a while. And Wizard will be in a tux which I’m excited about too! Okay now for you:
1) It’s a never ending struggle to control our titles sometimes, isn’t it? The rewards usually are worth it, but the time suck and aggravation are real!
2) Yay for words! And cool that you’re writing in Susan Stoker’s world.
3) That’s a downpour! And of course, it happened while you were out. But yay for the new faucet.
4) Nothing wrong with liking Ghost Hunters
5) Finding a series we love is awesome!
Happy Birthday to LG! I hope you both have a great weekend!
