Friday Five

Sorry, guys, this is all I got this week:

  1. So. Much. Rain. It’s more of a steady rain with breaks here and there rather than a torrential downpour, so flooding is less of a worry. But we rarely ever has so much rain this time of the year. It’s just weird.
  2. Anyone else feel like they’re living in a dystopian novel? Where is the love-sick teenager who will save us all?
  3. Wizard commented that I’m managing to stay busy. Um…yes I’m at the computerΒ  for hours a day, but I’m pretty much chasing my tail with a trying to fit 22 plots into 50 pages, then deleting the mess and starting over again. And again. And again.
  4. Maggie sits at the back window staring at the rain, then she looks up at me with pleading eyes as if I can make it stop. I actually apologize to her for the weather like it’s my fault Mother Nature can’t find the off switch.
  5. Here’s a pic of my grand-puppy Jett laughing himself silly when I told him the plot for my latest book idea. Good thing I love Jett, LOL!

That’s my stuck at home and a little depressed Friday Five. I bet your five is much more interesting than mine! I hope everyone is healthy and enjoys the weekend!

I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling depressed, but I totally get it. :hugs: I’m sure the rain isn’t helping. I wouldn’t push the writing right now. It’s hard enough on a good day and these have not been good days. Poor Maggie. Yay for Jett!

    1) My dystopian novels don’t have lovesick teens. Maybe that’s why they’re not selling. Hmm. Can’t change them now, even if I wanted to.
    2) It’s been beautiful here. I’m sorely tempted to go to the lake and spend a couple hours cleaning my fishing spot – it’s all junked up with logs and crap after the heavy rains we got before.
    3) I joked on FB about having all this food and not having a clue about what to make for dinner. My SIL commented ‘how about BLTs?’ which for some reason sent me giggling this morning. BLTs sound awesome, if I had bacon, lettuce, or tomatoes in the house.
    4) With an extra person in the house, I’m having to expand my dinner recipes to fit all three of us. The niggling thing was I had already portioned food into the freezer for two. Ah, having to adapt is fun.
    5) We’ve pretty much settled into the new normal here, which is basically reverting to the old normal from 7 years ago when Owl lived with us before. Except now she’s 26 and used to bustle, and we’re old and sedate. She’s all late nights (which is why I changed her name to Owl) and we’re all early mornings.

What B.E. said! BIG HUGS!!!! And blowing 😘 your way. I fear my five are boring as usual. Not a bad thing, all considered.

    1. My clowder of ferals is both interesting and worrying. I worry if one disappears–until it reappears. If it doesn’t, I’m sad. Lucifer, the character model for the cat of the same name in Red Dirt #9, has returned. But he’s taken to being a bully which is why some of the others have disappeared. There are five blacks: Shy, BG, Hi-jinx, Little Momma, and Lucifer (who I think is Loki’s sire). Then there’s Raja, a Burnese (like a Siamese but not), and Possum, who is the only kitten of Momma’s last litter to survive. Possum is…I wish I could get a photo. Fuzzy, sort of gray-ish but looks almost purple in certain light, with a “ghost face.” Its too cute and if I could catch it, I’d bring it inside, vet it, and keep it. If I could catch any of them, I’d get them fixed. πŸ™€ (I call them “it” because I can’t get close enough or they’re too fuzzy to determine which sex they are.

    2. Mother Nature is bi-polar. We had a freeze earlier in the week and one is forcast for next week. It’s freaking APRIL!!!! 😲

    3. I’m still waiting for the honeysuckle bush outside my office window to bud and bloom. I think it’s smarter than me, given the weather extreemes. The wisteria blooms are “shedding” but they lasted awhile, despite the extremes and I’m grateful.

    4. I was doing a comfort re-listen of the In Death books. (Yeah, I know. That’s weird considering what they are about but then I’M weird like that! 🀣 ) Anyway, I hit LOYALTY IN DEATH and I’m sort of stalled. It involves homegrown terrorism and bombing buildings. We’re 9 days away from the 25th anniversary of the OKC bombing and the news is full of reminders. Yeah, the PTSD is kicking in but I’m determined to deal with it. I’ll finish the book and then I’ll find something funny to listen to, to “clean my palate” as they say. And no worries. I’m fine, just not too bright on paying attention to timelines. 😝 and πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

    5. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, flowers are blooming. I have an amazing grandson, a super daughter and SiL, a great husband (even if I roll my eyes at him when his back is turned), two awesome dogs, a crazy cat, good friends, and my health. What more could I ask for? Life goes on. We find the happy where we can. We laugh at dumb stuff (including ourselves) because laughter is the best medicine. It’s all good!

Stay home. Stay safe. Stay healthy. πŸ’–πŸ’•πŸ’–

    1. Sorry about all the rain. It’s crazy how things like weather tend to go overboard.
    2. Yes.
    3. It’s ground hog day no matter what we’re doing anymore.
    4. Poor Maggie. You really need to talk to those witches ;).
    5. Love Jett! He looks totally comfortable and happy.

1a. Just ordered a fish fry from another local place that will bring it out to the car. Youngest says it’s the best.
2a. Getting really annoyed with produce. I go out very seldom so I expect my super long dates to be good. Heck NO. My greens are always rotten and they cost a fortune. I am really looking forward to normalcy.
3a. We’re going to drive over to Harrison’s tomorrow and put his Easter present on the porch and leave. Breaks hubs heart.
4a. It has snowed the past two days. Hasn’t stuck but still!
5a. Middle and DIL found a mover. They’re supposed to show up tomorrow at 1 and move the furniture to the house. I pray all works out.

Have a really great and safe weekend!

B.E., thanks today is better despite the rain :-) Let’s talk about you.

    1) I’d much rather read a dystopian novel without the lovesick teen!
    2) I hope you got some time at the lake.
    3) Bummer than you don’t have the makings for BLTs.
    4) Ugh! I have a lot of food portioned in my freezer, so I totally get what you mean. It’s an adjustment for sure.
    5) I’m impressed your doing so well with your daughter home. We love our kids, and i know you feel better having her there during the pandemic, BUT it’s an adjustment for sure. I’d take my kids in anytime as they would me, but we prefer living apart and visiting :-) These are definitely extraordinary times.

Hope you have a fun and healthy weekend.

Silver, thanks. You’re never boring :-)

    1) You have a herd of feral! Amazing how you know them all. I’d love to see a pic of the almost purple cat, but ferals aren’t known for sitting for photoshoots. I hope all your feral friends are okay.
    2) I hear you on Mother Nature. I can’t believe it’s April and we’re having this non stop rain. Good for the drought, but otherwise, depressing.
    3) The flowers are probably as confused as we are. Although my rose bush is blooming like mad.
    4) Skip Loyalty In Death. It’s just too close to home for you, at least right now. I know that date, it’s one of my son’s birthdays so it’s impressed on me. But I didn’t work the scene, and I can only guess at how hard it is each year. Just go onto the next book, and lose yourself in a story that doesn’t stab you in an old wound. Hugs.
    5) Family, friends, pets and the ability to laugh are the best, and will get us through this.

I’ll add that I am thankful for you, Silver, and all the witches who hang out here. Have a good weekend.

Viki, it definitely feels like an evil version of groundhog day. Okay, let’s talk about a more cheerful subject, you!

    1) Enjoy your fish fry!
    2) That is so aggravating! I’m sorry your produce is going bad so quickly. I hate wasting money.
    3) I’m sorry :-( It’s killing us not to see Turbo, so I feel for you and hubs. I want this to be over too, but it looks like it’s not going to be a fast return to normal.
    4) Weather! Sometimes, I think the weather is doing all it can to keep us inside. But it’s just crazy for this time of year.
    5) Yay! I was just wondering about that move last night. I’ll keep my fingers crossed everything goes smoothly. I’m excited for them!

Hope you and your family have a good weekend, and a good Easter. Stay well!
