Weekend Roundup

Another exciting quarantine weekend :-)

Friday, at least I got to see Biker Witch (my sister) for a few minutes. We didn’t touch or kept six feet between us, but it was nice to see her. I stopped by to drop something off for her on my home from my doctors.  It was nice just to physically see both her and her Biker Hubby. Again, we stayed outside and kept a distance. We both had masks too.

Saturday, I went to Youngest son’s to pick up some masks we need. We did the same thing–stayed outside and kept a safe. distance. But the hilarious thing about that? One of his big dogs was going back and forth between us, and we were both petting her. Um…FAIL. LOLOL! It’s okay, we were aware of it.  The way we look at it is all about mindful, calculated risks. But still, I didn’t hug my son when I left. So I’d quite literally hugged his super affectionate dog, but not my son. Probably no Mom Of The Year award for me :-)

Sunday, was Oldest’s Son’s birthday. We were really, really close to going out there just to see him, and our grandson. But at the last minute, we recalculated the risk and decided we’d have to wait because Wizard will be seeing two family members (for essential reasons) this week who are very high risk. Oldest son understood.

And I did a little writing this weekend, so that’s a win. It’s time to adjust to the new reality and work. If people around us stay safe and healthy, I’ll write more this week!

That was my weekend, how was yours?

Yay for seeing family members, even if you couldn’t be close to them. :hugs: Yay for writing! Happy Birthday to Oldest Son! You’re doing what you have to do and doing the best you can. Hang in there. :hugs:

I finally got back to work. It’s not writing yet, but the editing is moving along again and I should be writing again soon, too. If all goes well, I should have Ugly and the Beast out into the world by the end of the month, and Cinder Ugly at least written all the way through shortly after. Yesterday, I made a pot roast and then homemade biscuits to go along with it. That’s my exciting life.

Yay for in-person time, if not face-to-face hugs time. We all do what we gotta do. Lots of handwashing and masks. Yay for writing! Yes, it’s time to accept the way things are–for now–and get on with it.

We spent 24 hours with no TV, phone, or wifi, which meant no internet. Hated it! Our fiber optic line went down Friday afternoon and after spending literally 2 hours with “tech support,” they scheduled a tech appointment. Between 10-12 a.m. The guy didn’t get her until 4 p.m. Took him 20 minutes, thankfully.

I did a little writing. 1001 Nights publishing has an open call to new-to-them authors for short stories for an anthology. I’m gonna try! I’d love to get into their stable.

I got pictures of Possum. I tagged you on FB with 1 pic. More on my blog.

Was still awake at 3 a.m. when I had a light bulb moment on the short story. Gave up and came in to type it out before I forgot it. Also finished A BAD DAY FOR SUNSHINE, Darynda Jones’s new release, and got it returned to the library for the next in line. Have I mentioned that I love my local library system? They have a really decent audio and digital collection which can be accessed by anyone with a card. Handy since all the physical libraries are on lockdown too. :(

Was up early to hit Wallyworld. Got everything I needed. TP was stock in plenty, as were eggs. *looks at BE* Wanna take a road trip? I’d meet you halfway. (Only slightly kidding!)

Not much else going on in my world. LG has a cardiology appointment at VA tomorrow. I’ll have to disinfect him when he comes home. Good thing we have a supply of alcohol wipes, soap and water, and a bottle of hand sanitizer as backup.

On that note, time to settle in, finish up my normally early morning ritual of blogs, memes, and email, and then stare at those two scenes and see if I can divine a plot that can be introduced and wrapped up in 3K-5K words! 🤣

Have a great and productive week, everyone! Remember, we’re #AloneTogether. Stay healthy!

Uhm…that would be between 10-12 on SATURDAY. My brain is not braining well today. Only 3 hours of sleep. Fun times. I do see a nap in my future…just sayin’.

I am very happy you got to have one on one time with Biker Witch and Biker Hubby. We need that human to human connection now and then. Though, my poor hubby wanted to drive me while I went into the store yesterday. Told him NO. He couldn’t understand that I really just wanted to be alone for a few minutes :).

It’s great that you were able to see BLB and DIL. She’s making the masks, right? That’s great. I think you are all okay with petting the pup. From all I’ve read, there is no evidence that we can pick up the virus from the animals fur. But it’s best to keep washing hands.

I was going to try and make a mask or two but I’d have to do it by hand and my thumbs say – no. My girlfriend that moved to Florida just text me that she messed one up and it’s smaller than the others. She thought I may be able to wear it since I’m small so she’s sending it off today. Love friends!

I moved a piece of furniture today so I could clean windows and there was a nasty stain on the carpet under it. Hubs got out the steam cleaner and did a good job getting it out. Have no idea how long it’s been there.

I hope oldest son had a nice birthday. Turbo would make it fun for him. Sorry you couldn’t go but that was a smart decision.

    Stay safe and healthy.

B.E., we are all doing the best we can :-) Wizard and I would be being this careful with the sick people in our lives even if this virus wasn’t creating lockdown, etc. So I guess Wizard and I can’t blame everything on Coronavirus.

Yay for getting back to work! I hope you can make your goals of getting UGLY AND THE BEAST out by the end of the month and move onto the next book. I’m writing too, I’m just limiting my time at the computer for pain control, but that’s my normal anyway.

Pot roast and biscuits sounds wonderful! I made cookies today, but they are for someone else :-)

Hope your week is off to a healthy and productive start!

Silver, LOVED the pics of Possum Blossom! Such unique coloring. I’m hoping you can catch him (her?) and he can adjust to living inside. Ferals don’t always adapt well, or that’s what I heard, I don’t really know so why am I even saying that? Hmm, to steal your phrase, I’m not braining well :-)

YIKES, I’d be very unhappy without my wifi! I can live without cable, and other stuff, but wifi??? WHINE! Glad it was an easy fix when they finally got there.

I’m crossing my fingers you can get into 1001 Nights!

I’m so sorry you’re not sleeping. That’s not just a restless night, but brutal insomnia. You need more rest, and I hope you can sleep better tonight.

I got TP at Target today. I rushed out as soon as I saw they had stalk, adn by the time I got home and checked again, their stock was gone. But still, I am seeing improvements to the supply chain. It’s slow but happening.

Again, I hope you can achieve better quality sleep tonight (I so understand), and you’re submission to 1,001 Nights rocks their world! Stay positive, productive and well!

Viki, I get that wanting to be alone! Wizard has a few things he does, and so do I, while both of us are trying to remain safe.

BLB had disposable masks he’d scrounged up for us, in order to help sick relative. Daughter-in-law was at work (vet assistant). And honestly, petting Phoebe (the dog) was worth the slim risk.

You have a great friend!!! I hope the mask works for you. I agree with you on sewing, I had to sew by hand covers for my neck brace and that was tough on me. It’d probably be a lot harder on you with your thumbs. It shouldn’t be this hard to get masks. You should see how long I looked for disposable ones (again, we have special needs for them, and they are not N95s)), and I finally was able to order some that will be here in a week to 15 days. Sigh.

I hate those surprise stains! I had more of those when the kids lived at home :-) Plus sometimes old stains like to reappear. Sounds like Hubs did a great job getting it out.

I hope you and your family are having a good and healthy week!
