Weekend Roundup

The weekend was okay. Wizard has a friend who is very sick and in the hospital with Covid, and we have a family member struggling with a non-Covid serious illness. But we are staying positive and hopeful.

Otherwise, I worked on getting some stuff ready for a boxed set I plan to release in Feb. To do this, I had to rewrite and tighten blurbs, revise a bunch of reader letters and get things ready for my formatter after Christmas. I originally planned to do that a little at a time, but I found it easier to just tackle the big items all at once. It’s a relief to get the bulk of that work done, so it’s ready to go when I need it. Because, you know, I’m juggling things, LOL.

This weekend, my brother called to chat, and teased me about being driven. I’m not particularly ambitious, I just have stories to tell, and a very stubborn nature :-) I was surprised that he sees me that way. On the other hand, I have written about seven opening scenes for Eli in Primal Magic, searching for the one works…and some might view that as a tad obsessive or driven.

I also cleaned, clued Wizard into my plan to create a small secondary office in an upstairs bedroom in 2021 (Wizard is mentally adjusting to the idea) and I finished reading BURN FOR ME by Ilona Andrews. I’m hooked on that series now!

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

Positive thoughts to your friend and your family member. Yay for getting stuff done ahead of time! Yay for being driven – in your own way. Ooo, a new secondary office sounds fun. And yay for being hooked on books!

As you saw on FB, it snowed. A lot for here. We got more snow yesterday than we got all of last year. Which is relative, since last year we got next to nothing so our 2.5 inches seems worse than it is. I’m on a roll with the book I’m writing. Yay for me. Unfortunately, being on a roll means I can’t stop thinking about the story when I should be sleeping. :mainlines coffee: My brain is outpacing my fingers’ ability to write, too. I can get about 1500 words out before I have to stop because I don’t want my hands to curl into claws. Getting older blows. But hey, words are coming out. Yay.

I’m so sorry about Dan’s friend and your family member. Sending healing thoughts. You’re brother knows you pretty well, I think. You are a bit driven but I think that can apply to most of us who have all the stories roiling around in our heads, fighting to get out whether the words we come up with are good or not. That’s where the drive comes from–sorting it all out and getting it right. I figured the Hidden Legacy series would suck you in. It’s totally my crack.

We had snow. I got about 1K words on the Christmas story. I OD’d on Hallmark Christmas movies. I folded laundry. I’m listening to Dannika Dark’s Seven series and enjoying it. I last read it back in 2014. I lead such an exciting life.

Let’s not talk about “new” office space. I keep thinking about rearranging my office and the hassle that would be is kinda scary. There’s some hefty furniture in here and neither LG nor I are in true physical shape to do shft the big stuff. I want to shift my desk from one corner to the other corner on the same wall. This changes the perspective of the view out my window. But that means moving bookcases and the entertainment armoir. Not mention bunches of other junk (a lot of which belongs to Only that’s never migrated to her house!

    Have a great week!

Sorry you have friends and family that are ill. Covid is so horrible. I wish the friend of Wizard’s well and a total recovery. Hubs priest is ill too. They won’t say but we all think it’s Covid :(.

You did quiet a bit this weekend and yes, your brother kind of has it nailed ;).

So a new office – sounds great. Will you and Wizard work on it together or is it all you?

I did not wrap over the weekend. I did other stuff that had to be done. I will begin the wrap fest tomorrow after shopping. Hubs seems to think 2 rolls of paper are plenty to wrap all the gifts. Yes, sometimes I think there is nothing between his ears ;). I will be buying paper tomorrow along with staples.

I did all the decorating I plan on doing. Only half of my normal, but I’m not into it :(.

The adjuster cancelled on Saturday but came out Sunday. I have an estimate. Now I need my roofer. When I called the machine said due to the virus they are only doing small jobs. I left a message anyway. Hope he calls.

Now I have to go make dinner. How I wish I were Samantha Stevens and could just wiggle my nose ;).

    Have a great evening!

B.E., thanks. We’re just going through what so many others are right now.

The snow looked amazing to see but danged inconvenient to live it. I saw your satellite dish is out, which is frustrating.

Awesome that you’re on a writing roll! I so get the related insomnia when you’re brain just won’t shut down. Hope you can get some more quality sleep tonight.

The getting old part–you’re not old but I hear you on our body not keeping up with our desires (or drive or whatever!)

    Happy Monday!

Silver, thanks on Dan’s friend and our family member.
Being driven may just be a personality thing, the older I get the more I’m like, Why not? Go for it! Sitting on the couch and dreaming but not doing something is not my thing. I’d rather fail than not try :-)

I’m in love with that series, but think I’m going to read an anthology story I’m itching to get to before book 2. But of course, I bought book 2 so I have it!

I saw your snow pics too! I was surprised by how much you got. Yay for your Christmas story! Eh on folding laundry, LOL. And Hallmark movies awesome if they help you relax and plot!

Oh yeah, I get the heavy desk. I have a monster oak desk downstairs. It’s impossible to move. You’ll have to get some volunteers like Only and Baseball Boy to help you move your office around if you decide to do it.

Hope you had a good writing day!

Viki, thanks. I hope hubs priest is ok.

Shh, don’t tell me brother he’s right, LOLOL!!

The “new” office is a space I want because we both use the desktop downstairs and I hate kicking him off. I’d like to get a new desktop computer downstairs and putting the old one upstairs. Plus I sometimes need quiet. And eventually I want to do some other projects and need a quiet space. Wizard will get involved eventually, he always does :-)

You’ve had a lot going on with the wind and ice storm, now roof problems, the wrapping can wait. That’s funny that your husband thought two rolls would do it. I always have way too much Christmas paper and end up using it for birthday gifts. It’s a frailly joke now. Which reminds me, I forgot to get ribbon.

I really hope your roofer can do it and you don’t have to try to find someone new. I’m really sorry you’re having to go through this.

I wish I could wiggle my nose and get stuff done like Samantha Stevens too.

Hope your week is off to a good start!
