Friday Five
TGIF! Let’s get right to sharing five random things about our week
- tt’s a bad news bear week. Four sick people, and a friend who had sudden major surgery. I’m very unhappy that people I care about dare to get sick or have scary surgeries. Let’s not do that, okay?
- Maggie “sneaks” to wake up Wizard in the mornings. If he’s still sleeping when I take a shower, I tell her to get in her bed and let him sleep. She does…until I actually get in the shower and can’t hear her. Wizards said she skulks over, puts her paws up on the mattress and watches him until he pets her. Then she looks over her shoulder to make sure I’m not there and nudges him to pet her again. Wizard said it’s pretty funny. I’ll take his word for it, because once I get out of the shower, she’s back in her bed pretending to sleep.
- I made cookies just because I wanted to.
- This week, I’ve had a bunch of errands, just typical stuff, but WOW it seems like there’s so much more traffic and crowds out there. Holiday shopping and errands? I don’t know. Also, why am I always running errands lately?
- I’m planning to meet Special K and Turbo at the local zoo on Sunday to hang out. Wizard has other plans, but he encouraged me to go and have fun. I’m looking forward to that.
That’s my five now I’d love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a great weekend, and remembers to stay healthy

Sorry to hear about your friends. :hugs: LOL about Maggie. She’s such a smart girl. Yay for cookies! Ugh, errands. And yay for your upcoming zoo visit and Turbo time!
1) I overdid it yesterday when we were dismantling the woodpile and pulling out good logs. Hubs kept telling me to stop, which only made me more determined to keep going. I am not telling him any of this. LOL (Okay, I probably will tell him because I suck at hiding things from him.)
2) A friend of mine started this tiny Facebook group where we and another friend post our goals and support each other so we can all get over this gumption hump. It seems to be working for me.
3) I was on my way home from the store a couple days ago and at one point, I could see a deer’s head in my lane just on the other side of a little rise. So I flipped on my flashers and slowed way down. As I topped the rise, the doe continued on, but I stopped. Good thing, too, because another deer came leaping into the road. I crept along, but the two deer were so freaked they kept acting like they were going to run into the road again. A pickup was coming from the other direction, so I rolled down my window and started pointing and waving. He stopped, too, and finally the two lady deer jumped the fence and ran off into a field. Crisis averted.
4) I still haven’t made that zucchini bread I mentioned. Today. Definitely.
5) I’ve had a craving for cinnamon rolls lately, but every time I pull up a recipe, they seem like a huge load of work. I caved and bought a tube of them to bake. They were pretty good, but not the homemade ones I was craving. Maybe I’ll knuckle down and make my own this weekend.

What B.E. said, especially about Turbo Time™! B.E. I’ll send you my dough recipe, if you want it. It makes awesome cinnamon rolls and is pretty darn easy…
My five:
1. …which reminds me, I need to a) check the expiration date on the yeast in the pantry and b) add it to my grocery list if necessary. Doing rolls for 20+ for T-giving at Uncle Fix-Its and Aunt Hooey’s. (That’s what she calls herself, kinda like my mother picked out Granny Gooch. 🤷🏼♀️ Don’t ask. I have no clue!)
2. Weird lucid dream this morning. LG and I discussed the partial lunar eclipse before bed and optimum time here was around 4 a.m. Given my current sleep patterns, I quipped that I’d likely be up. Well, I did wake up at 3:30, thought to myself, “Self, get up and go look out the window.” I then had a lucid dream about getting up, going to the bathroom window, looking out and watching the entire eclipse in a short of stop action/time elapse video, then returned to bed and sleep. And no, I DID not eat pickles and ice cream before bed last night.
3. I broke my glasses yesterday. Well, one of the earpieces, anyway. I managed to get it reattached and used hot glue to keep it so. I don’t want to deal with new prescription and glasses until after the cataract surgery, probably sometime after the first of the year.
4. It’s been chilly here. I made chili Wednesday night (totally from scratch) and last night I did a chicken alfredo with fresh spinach sauce to go over cheese ravioli. I’m lazy. I used bottled sauce, frozen grilled chicken, and frozen ravioli. I did buy the fresh spinach and stir it all together so there’s that. 🤣
5. In other news, LG’s new engine finally arrived, his truck picked up from the driveway by a nice tow-truck dude and transported to the mechanics (who actually build racing engines) to put in. We might get it back today, maybe Monday. Whenever. He’ll just be happy to have his truck back. Not that driving Uncle Fix-It’s backup truck is awful but we’re old. And set in our ways. Change is hard! No. Really. 🤪
Okay, I managed to eek out five things once again. I suppose I should like…you know…get some work done. Or not. Have a great weekend, witches! 🥰

*Please note that I did NOT actually get out of bed. It was a dream. Also *sort of NOT *sHort of video. I hate typos!

1. Sorry about all the illness and surgery of those you love. I pray all recover swiftly.
2. I love Maggie 🥰. She is SO smart. The fact that she’s back in her bed when you come out of the shower is killer 😄.
3. Cookies are always a good thing!
4. It does seem like people are finally coming out of the woodwork again. I’m running tons of errands too – why?
5. Have a ball at the local zoo with Special K and Turbo.
1a. I was going to make cookies today but ran out of time. Too many errands and too much cleaning. AND there is still tons of stuff that needs to be done.
2a. It’s chilly here. They had us under a lake effect snow warning last night. We got a dusting 🤣.
3a. I’m getting my hair done tomorrow and I can’t wait.
4a. Youngest is going to help us replace all of our showers doors beginning this weekend. the doors are fine but the stripping and rails are a mess. Caulk no longer holds up. Time for new.
5a. I just ordered a Flip tree. It’s SUPER expensive but really cool. If you don’t know, it’s a Christmas tree that is all together and you just have to flip it up up and them put the top on. It’s all lighted and everything. It will be so much easier than a regular artificial tree.
Have a fantastic weekend!

B.E., thanks on all. It’s just a weird week, not all bad but definitely weird. Now for you.
1) Sorry you’re sore from overdoing it. But I’d have done the same thing
2) That is great! Anything that helps motive you and lets you encourage others too is a win.
3) That could have gone much worse. So glad you were able to spot the deer. Glad everyone came away safely.
4) Hope you got to make zucchini bread.
5) I’ve never made them from scratch, but I bet they’re delicious. (I know Sliver does, so she’s more help them me).
Hope you have a good weekend!

Silver, thanks.
1) I bet everyone’s looking forward to your rolls on T-day! I remembered that your aunt assigned herself the name
2) Hope you enjoyed seeing the solar eclipse in your lucid dream! Pickles and ice cream makes me thing of pregnancy more than weird dreams.
3) Ugh, sorry about your glasses, but glad you found a temporary fix. I don’t blame you for not wanting to do that before the cataract surgery.
4) Both dinners sound yummy!
5) I hope LG gets his truck back ASAP. We don’t like change either.
Enjoy your weekend!

Viki, thanks, and yeah, people are definitely out and about again.
1) Sorry you didn’t get to make your cookies. Is your neck better?
2) Well I guess a dusting is still snow?
3) It’s always nice to get our hair done
4) Hope you love the new shower doors.
5) Let me know if you like the new tree. I don’t want to get a new one this year, but it’ll be nice to know for next!
Hope you have a great weekend!
