Friday Five
TGIF!!! Let’s get right into sharing five random things about our week.
- It’s hot and windy here. This is definitely weird for February. It’s so bad, I order 4 sleeveless t-shirts yesterday because I’m wondering if winter is avoiding us. Also, I want to stock up before they sell out.
- I took Maggie in for a quick tech appointment at the vet’s yesterday. She’s so quiet at home, but in the vet waiting room, she’s a Tail Wagging Chatty Kathy. It’s pretty funny. She’s half scared, and half just a happy girl who thinks everyone should talk to her. Of course, if they come too close, she either hides behind me or rolls over in a submissive pose. Maggie is a character, LOL. And they all seem love her there, which I really appreciate.
- I’ve been doing yoga for ab0out a year now, I think. I’m surprised. I keep it simple and am careful of my limitations and it’s helping me. I believe we should do what works for each of us, not what works for someone else.
- Youngest son and his wife are coming over this weekend for an early birthday dinner. His actual birthday is next week. Here I’ve been teaching myself to decorate cakes, and what does Youngest want? A cookie cake. There’s not a lot I can do with that, LOL. But it’s what he wants and I will happily make it for him. I’d truly rather make what he (and anyone I’m baking for) really wants. Plus it’s much easier to make
- Wizard and I are talking about seeing Turbo tomorrow, but I’m not sure I can since I’ll have prep work to do for Sunday. We’ll sort that out today, and Wizard can always go by himself. I saw Turbo two weeks ago, while it’s been a little longer for him.
That’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours! Hope all of you football fans enjoy the Superbowl and have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday to BLB. I hope you still get to visit Turbo. Go, you, on the yoga. Yay for Maggie. Boo for weird weather.
1) Our snow is almost entirely gone now. Here’s hoping we’re done with it for this season.
2) I’ve been listening to an internet radio thing and it’s thrown a lot of good music I’ve never heard before. I even bought a CD based on music I loved there. Lately, I started writing songs down so I could share them with Hubs.
3) Due to my aversion to driving with other idiots in the snow, I ran out of yummy snacks, so I created my own. I took boring pretzel sticks and made no bake cookies with them. Then melted my last chocolate chips with peanut butter, and coated pretzels and oyster crackers with the goo. Sweet and salty. Yum.
4) I’m mostly focused on editing right now. I’m in the ‘make notes and enter them right after’ phase. So many notes… Ugh. But the book is better for them.
5) I did finally make it out to Wallyworld yesterday. What a zoo. The price of everything had jumped since last trip. And they were out of so many things. =o(

What B.E. said re: weather, yoga, Good Girl Maggie™, BLB & DiL, and maybe Turbo Time™. My five:
1. Plumbing. We’ve had it. Long story. Back up on two toilets. Same place as always. We discovered the toilet on the separate line had a leak from the tank so water all over the floor there. That one has been drained and water off. Indoor plumbers coming Monday to replace it. Outdoor plumbers left just a bit ago after fixing the line. 😔 *sigh*
2. Beautiful weather temp-wise but we are so dry, despite 8″ of snow. That only melted out to about 1/2″ of rain. Got a front coming in late today so chilly tomorrow.
3. Writing is hit or miss depending on frustration level with Boone. Bless his heart. He managed to whap LG with a paw at 2 a.m. and guess who has a black eye now…
4. We are getting so old and set in our ways. I have to laugh. We bought a 65″ smart TV for the family room early in the week. It’s still in the box in the dining room. There are reasons. Mainly, neither of us is in a big rush to clean plus sort cords. Tomorrow. Except we’ve been saying that all week. 🤣 Except Super Bowl on Sunday so we’d be real slackers if we didn’t get it done before game time.
5. I broke the case on my phone. (Actually, Boone did it by hooking the charging cord around his neck and pulling it off my desk) and I was headed out to get a replacement. LG held up a finger, dug into a box and handed me an unopened case that was the exact duplicate of mine. He’d bought two when he replaced his, because he thought mine was cool looking and another that was a bit more rugged. Then he realized it was the case I had on my phone. So I didn’t have to get out and people! And my phone looks the same! Yay!
So that’s my rather mundane five and yes, I DID have to reach deep to come up with them. 🤣 TGIF and have a great weekend!

1. You’re smart to get a jump on buying the sleeveless shirts with the way the heat is already your way.
2. Maggie is a sweetheart. It’s so cute that she gets chatty at the vets. She must be talking with all her furry friends. The fact that she likes the vet people and they like her probably adds to her being so outgoing.
3. You are so right. We need to know what works for us and do it. I am so glad that yoga is helping you. The few moves I can do seem to help my neck a bit too.
4. Happy Birthday a little early BLB! Well a cookie cake is a lot less work than one of your big cake creations and he loves them. All should be yummy .
5. It would be nice for you and Wizard to both be able to see Turbo tomorrow. Maybe the prep work will go fast. I know – Right.
1a. I made up a big bag of Valentine treats for Harrison and had hubs take them over this morning when he went to babysit. Well, Harrison had a Valentine all set me grandma Vik too. He’s too cute.
2a. We’re on the roller coaster weather right now. It was in the 40’s yesterday and most of today. Tonight it drops to 5F, Sunday a high of 15 and back to 50 by Wednesday. It’s just crazy.
3a. I actually went in to Kohl’s to shop today. My best friend’s daughter is having a little girl so I went crazy. Never having bought for a girl before, I had FUN. The good thing was everything was 50% off and this man gave me his 25% coupon when he was leaving the store.
4a. Middle is coming over tomorrow late morning. He wants to try and convert all of my family photo albums into digital to preserve them. He’s also going to bring me a raspberry hibiscus doughnut from this vegan place near him. Sounds good doesn’t it?
5a. Hubs and I are going out to that local place we like tomorrow for our Valentine’s dinner. They make this horseradish crusted Halibut as a Valentine special. I love it.
Have a super weekend and a great time with youngest and DIL Sunday!

B.E., I feel a little bit bad complaining about our weather since you all have major weather to deal with
1) Keeping my fingers crossed the snow is over for the year.
2) That’s awesome to find new music you like!
3) Your snacks sound perfect. And very clever of you to improvise so well. I don’t blame you for avoiding driving in the snow.
4) I’m a huge believer in the editing process. I know it feels cumbersome to write the notes then enter them, but if that’s your process then it’s exactly how you should do it. I do it much the same way.
5) Ugh, that’s not a successful trip to Walmart but I’m sure you made the best of it. The stores here were crowded but I’m assuming that’s for Superbowl. Inflation is hitting everyone I know, sadly.
Hope you have a good weekend!

Silver, thanks. I know how boring I sound, I will have a little more to talk about next week Although I’ll probably still be boring, LOL
1) YIKES!! That kind of trouble is expensive and super inconvenient (the nicest word I could think of). I hate plumbing issues. I’m hoping it’s all resolved Monday. I’m really sorry you guys are dealing with this.
2) Your weather is swinging around like a drunk.
3) Oh no, poor LG. Boone is sure showing his needy side. I’m also sorry you guys are going through this too.
4) The Superbowl pressure is real, LOL. I totally sympathize on the TV. We bought our last one like 10 years ago and it’s fine. Neither one of us is interested in going through installing and learning a new one
5) Kudos to LG on the phone case! That would have made my day if it was me!!! So glad you had that cool piece of luck!
Not mundane, your plumbing problems make me wince in sympathy and I sympathize with your frustrations with Boone. I hope you can get your TV up and enjoy the game on Sunday!

Viki, thanks on all! If yoga stretches help your neck, that’s good. I really am a huge believer in exercise, but it has to be what each person can enjoy. For a lot of my life, I could never slow down enough to really do and learn yoga. I was much happier on the ellipsis, treadmill or lifting weights.
1) You are such a great grandma! I love that Harrison gave you a Valentine too. I don’t have one for Turbo.
2) That’s a definite rollercoaster. Hope the weather swings aren’t making you ache too much.
3) Congrats to your friend’s daughter! it’s so lovely she’s having a girl and you got to shop for her! I’d love that too. Plus it’s fun to shop for new babies. That was amazing that the man gave you his 25% off coupon.
4) I hope he can get all your photos into digital files. And I want to hear how that doughnut tastes!
5) I love that you two are going out for Valentines. I’ve kind of forgotten, LOL. I’ll tell you guys why next week, plus it’s BLB’s birthday and I just…forgot Hope you both have a wonderful dinner!
Have a great weekend!
