Weekend Roundup

Friday afternoon plot twist anyone?  How about an expensive plot twist full of Holy Crap Batman, What Now?

Despite having been sent an official notice of the closing dates on the house, along with fees that will be assessed if we are even a day late in closing, the builder has delayed it for a month. And they somehow managed to move the date without incurring the fees.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have some of that magic?

That was very stressful, but yesterday afternoon we asked the new owners if it’d be possible to extend our rental. They agreed and we are so very grateful to them. I sincerely mean that, they have been awesome in working with us. I don’t know their circumstances but they seem very capable so hopefully this is working out well for them too. Just for the record, if they had said no, we would have totally understood and struggled to find other arrangements.

Otherwise, the weekend was hot, frustrating, and occassionally productive. I ordered a possible dress for Wizard’s reunion, but that’s a minor thing. Heck we may even be moving that weekend, so we’ll just see how it goes.

Yesterday I started getting a slew of spam calls with unidentified numbers. It’s a scam claiming they are Amazon. After about 8 of those, I unplugged my landline phone and set my printer so the fax machine answers :-)

This whole experience of selling one house and buying a new build are giving me lots of plot ideas!

How was your weekend?

Oh noes on the delay! And wow, how’d they avoid the extra fees? Plus they should be paying y’all a bonus for changing dates with short notice! I can imagine how frustrated you are! Yay for good buyers, though. They are a blessing for sure.

Ya know, Kate Carlisle did a whole series about house plot twists… ;)

We had a mostly lovely day Saturday. Up and going to get to siren test at noon. Met the kids at Alvarado’s. Had a new waitress which was kind of a bummer. LG and I were going to have sopapillas to celebrate. She took our order, delivered our food, and we had to snag her to get remind her about drink refills or anything else. Only never did get her water refill. Then the girl appeared with the bill without ever asking if we wanted anything else. 8-O I told LG to just pay out, we didn’t need the calories anyway. Still a favorite place to eat and hopefully, if we get her again, she’ll have been trained to their normal high standards. Came home and puttered around the house. Didn’t get a nap but watched some awesome baseball.

My Cards swept the Yankees in their series. WOOOOT!!!!

Sunday was a down day. My shoulder flared up and I had a bad night so I spent the morning in bed catching up on episodes of “On Patrol Live,” which is the reincarnation of “Live PD.” Totally love the show, though we’re usually watching baseball and then I fall asleep, so we tape it.

Stormy is here most of the week. His classes start a week from Wednesday. I got some work done and I’m closer to getting the four books ready for release. That’s my goal this week. We’ll see.

In the meantime, have a great one, all!

Sorry but just seeing that Olivia Newton-John has died breaks my heart. We grew up with her. She suffered breast cancer and so many other issues in her life. She was a very strong and amazing woman. The world will has lost a gem.

I am so very sorry to hear that your has a month delay. I don’t understand how they get away without the penalties but what do I know.

Moving is always stressful and when you’re building your home it must be even more so. You and Wizard are sure handling things well.

I think I REALLY like the people that have bought your house. It’s so nice that they are allowing you to rent longer. They sound like good people.

I sure hope you like the dress you ordered. What color is it?

I keeping hearing of more and more people getting the Amazon scams lately. I’m guessing in a year or so we’ll hear that there was a breach and peoples information was stolen. Isn’t that how it usually goes?

My mom was doing awful today when I talked to her. I called my brother and he had talked to her an hour or so before me and said she was pretty good. Just shows how fast things can change.

Julie’s daughter is putting her in a rehab facility to see if they can help get her up and capable of getting into a wheelchair. while she’s there, daughter will have a hospital bed brought in and re-arrange things in the house. It’s not looking good.

My brother’s second PSA test was 0.05 so he’s holding off radiation and monitoring right now.

Today is Spunk’s 9th birthday and he is currently letting me know that it is dinner time and he wants to be fed.

I hope you have a great afternoon!

Silver, I’d like to know how they avoided the fees too. Wanna guess how many answers we’re getting? Sigh. The truth is they have the power at the moment because of the housing shortage. I knew this kind of stuff could happen and honestly expected it sooner, not this close to closing. In any case, while the weekend was filled with panic, once we talked to the new owners, we are much better now. At least until the next crises :-)

Kate’s made of awesomeness. I remember when she conceived the idea for that series. She’s a star and I couldn’t be happier for her!

Happy Anniversary again to you and LG! Loved the wedding pic, and I think you and LG and great examples of a great marriage built on commitment and mutual respect.

I’m so sorry about the crappy waitress. I get that she’s still learning, but it’s frustrating to have it happen on this particular weekend. I wish you’d gotten your Sopapillas. But I’m glad that you had a good siren test and time with family.

    Yay for the Cards!

Ugh on your shoulder and bad night. I had many of those before my surgery and can sympathize. Rest the following day is the best thing.

You’re getting closer on your four books ready to release goal! Because I’m not working right now, I think I have an even clearer view of just how impressive that is!

I really hope your shoulder feels better and Happy Monday!

Viki, I saw the news on Olivia Newton John a couple hours ago. It is sad. In you youth, I totally idolized her. I feel for her family and friends as well as her fans.

They get away with it due to a disclaimer on all their documents that reads something like “The dates are subject to change,” kind of thing. Not for us mind you, but for them. But ultimately it’s due to supply and demand, and I’ve heard much worse stories from other buyers around the country when I was researching this BEFORE we signed. So I knew all that was in there, I just didn’t see why it’d happen this close to closing when they should be down to finishes. Now that we’ve solved the problem of where to live — at least through September when they say it will be done — we are trying to just move forward.

It could be, but these Amazon scams have been going on for a while. I rarely even answer the phone, and just delete the messages for anything like that. I’ve worked with Amazon long enough to know exactly how they contact me for anything — that’s not how they do it. The fax machine answering stopped the repeated calls pretty danged quick, LOL!

I’m so sorry your mom was doing so poorly when you talked to her. Do you think she was tired by the time she talked to you? It has to be so hard on your not being physically close enough to run over and check on her.

I’m also sorry about Julie and her struggles. I hope rehab can help her regain some physical strength as well as show her how to use the strength she does have more efficiently. Your family has so much to deal with, and it must be exhausting and like a slow heart break.

That’s a glimmer on good news on your brother’s PSA numbers. From what I know (from two family members) those numbers are usually a pretty good indicator. So hold onto that good news for now!

Happy Birthday Spunk! I saw his picture on FB — he’s a handsome boy. He must be such a good friend and comfort to you, especially right now.

I hope you have a good evening.
