We Made It

Hi everyone! I missed you all, but man, the days are a blur. We are in the new house, and this morning we spent a few hours cleaning the old house. Tomorrow we will turn over the keys. We loved that house, but now we will love this one :-) We are so exhausted and sore, but we are here!

I tried to post a picture of my kitchen, and the blog site refuse for “security reasons.”  So weird! I’ve never seen that before. I’ll figure it out, but not tonight (which is last night when I wrote this). I barely slept at all last night and fatigue is making me loopy and blank even though the days have been jammed packed with things happening.

Overall, everything has gone well. We hired movers, and we are so glad we did! It was over a 100 degrees. The poor movers, I don’t know how they work in the heat like that. We did all our past moves ourselves, but this time we just couldn’t. As it is, we’ve been working from the time we get up until 8ish at night for four days straight. Anyway, the movers did great, and now we’ll be unpacking and organizing until 2030 :-)

How was your weekend and the beginning of the week? I really want to know!

I really hope I feel more coherent by Friday, LOL!

CONGRATS!!!! Can’t wait to see pics! Is Maggie settling in? Get lots of sleep. Unpacking can wait until you two catch up on the ZZzzzzZZZZs. And yes, hiring movers is the ONLY way to go at our ages. Heck, that was the best thing about the Army. Not only were there movers, but there were packers and unpackers! FTW!

Not much around here. Stormy scored the winning goal at his Saturday soccer game. SEAL Moon went live. Loki is more and more curious about Pete but still skittish. Pete’s just aloof. My Cards clinched the NL Central last night with a win over the Brewers so they are officially headed to the postseason. Yay! And that’s about it for me.

FYI, I’m betting you’ve unpacked the important stuff by next Monday, if not before. Remember, lots of rest. Don’t push too hard. You are in and can relax now!

Congratulations! So happy that you are moved in and can now begin to enjoy your new home. Sure hope you and Wizard got some rest last night. You two had an exhausting weekend.

Oh man, I feel for the movers too. Moving is hard to begin with, add super high temperature to the mix, yuck. Nice that it was them and not you.

So, does Maggie love her new home? Has she found any lizard hideouts in the yard that she need to keep an eye on? I kind of hope she has since she enjoys hunting them.

Things have been trying here. The new refrigerator was supposed to arrive Saturday between 2-6. I finally called at 6:45 and it got to our place at 9PM. Because it was dark and we have a VERY long twisting drive w/o lights (we live in the country) they couldn’t back down the drive. Hubs had to pull the car out and shine the headlights out toward the road so they could see to bring the thing up to the house. Next day the thing still wasn’t cold enough. I think it’s finally there.

Monday afternoon our water system broke and I didn’t notice for several hours. It’s as if a hose is running full blast. So our well, the system, and the sump pumps were running non-stop for about 12 hours. And it has been raining heavily so the ditches are overflowing. I’m able to put it into bypass but because we have very acidic water we can’t run any. Kinetico can’t get here until maybe this afternoon. Sure hope they do because hubs is driving me crazy and any time we need to flush or stuff I have to go turn the water on. He seems clueless.

I reminded my boys what my Gram always told me – “You don’t own a house, the house owns you.” All but eldest seems to get it.

Again, I hope you are resting up and having fun putting your new home together.

Silver, thank you!! Wow the army is awesome for provide movers and packers/unpackers. We paid a chunk for movers and did our own packing. Although they wrapped all the furniture which was great.

Maggie is adjusting but understandably confused. She’s protesting nights in her kennel (we knew she would), but I think she’ll adjust. She’s voluntarily in her kennel right now as I’m in the office where the kennel is located. Today I’m noticing she’s getting more relaxed.

YAY Stormy! That’s a big deal! And great news on SEAL Moon, I’ll have to buy my copy today or tomorrow (I made a note so I don’t forget in the lingering chaos!) Loki and Pete will adjust, and Pete being aloof will probably help. The Cardinals are on their way!

You’d be right on betting — we are getting unpacked quickly, just not necessarily organized. But that we can do in time. Rest will come soon! Our bodies are starting to demand it, LOL! But for sure, we are mega relived and happy to have gotten over the BIG hurdles (selling, moving etc.)

I hope the rest of your week is amazing!

Viki, we are stating to get a bit more rest, but neither of us is good at sitting when there’s things to be done.

I don’t know if Maggie has found any lizards, but she’s definitely exploring the new backyard and seems focused on a few spots. I think she’ll really like it.

Viki, that’s a very late delivery, and I’d have been super stressed. I’ve seen driveways like that, and can see why they had trouble, but it’s their own fault for being so late. I hope it’s cold enough and working perfectly now.

On no, I’m so sorry about your water system! That is so frustrating that you didn’t realize it was running. I hope it’s a pretty easy and inexpensive fix. We live on septic for a while in our first house and had problems, so I know how hard it is to live with water/plumbing issues. I hope they fix it today!

Your Gram sounds very wise! It’s so true.

Thank you so much, we really think we’ll love this home. But boy, moving is hard. So we’d better love this house for a very long time!

I really hope your week gets better!

Yay! I’m so glad you’re into your new home. :hugs: I can’t wait to hear all about it. And about how Maggie is adjusting to her new castle. I hope there are lizards for her. I know it’s all very tiring, but it’s probably super exciting, too. I know I’m excited for you. =o)

Once you get settled in, the kids need to throw you a housewarming party and give you kitschy gifts. ;o)
