Weekend Roundup

**I’m posting this on Sunday afternoon because it’s easier for me :-)

It was a good weekend. Wizard is getting ready to start working on his garage, and I sorted boxes left to unpack into two closets: One for stuff that will need to be unpacked at some point, and the other for stuff we are storing like old photos and books. Of course there’s still lots to do, but it feels like the moving chaos has been tamed somewhat :-) Here’s a couple house pics:

This is the new house when we got the keys. It looks smaller from the front.

The kitchen before we moved in, with the dinning room on the left. We have a view of hills all around us.

The door on the right side of this shot leads to a large walk in pantry. It’s the first time I’ve ever had a walk in! We love it.

Wizard took this the first time I was getting ready to cook in there. I think I was looking up a recipe before I started.

That’s enough pics for now :-)

So other stuff that happened: Somehow we managed to go to Wizard’s reunion last weekend. It was fun, and I enjoyed seeing and meeting a lot of people. We were tired, but I was determined that we go. Wizard had talked about seeing old friends for months, and I really wanted him to go. I think the break was good for us too.

Then in the “caught by surprise” category, I went to the specialist for my stomach the day after we moved in. I have a bunch of tests which I expected, and then…I found out I have to go on a low FODMAT diet for a whole. I did NOT see that coming! I knew what it was, but it just hadn’t occurred to me that I’d have do the diet.  **Sigh.** If you don’t know what this diet is, it eliminate foods high in FODMATS which is anything good like wheat, dairy (I limit dairy now),  a lot of fruits and vegetables I really like, for six weeks. After than, you begin adding the foods back in to see what is a trigger.

Sound like fun???? NOT.

I pretty much ignored the diet last week, and will start thinking about it this week when I go grocery shopping. It really is important that I do all they are asking me so do so I can manage this condition better.

So that’s my weekend, how was yours?

The kitchen is amazing. So many cupboards to fill!! I went on a detox diet for 30 days. Felt amazing but did not keep it up. One thing I still do, green apples and almond butter. Not sure if either of those are on your acceptable list, but they are a treat. Honeycrisp and crunchy peanut butter are the unacceptable version

Ooo, pretty!! I bet you’re going to have a lot of fun baking in that kitchen. And it seems perfect for entertaining. Yay for making it to the reunion. You both deserved a break. Ack, your diet sounds awful. I totally get it. You want to feel better and this will ultimately move you toward that goal. But man, that sucks. :hugs: I hope it helps you find the food that’s bothering you and that it isn’t something you really love.

It was quiet here, like usual. I hit the thrift store and picked up a few books and some clothes. One pair of pants is super cute, but I’m going to need to hem them. I think they’re like 3 inches too long. And I’m not short – even with the age-related shrinkage. These must’ve been owned by a giant. It’s finally cool enough here to take walks again. Yay.

LOVE the house! Nice and tidy on the front and yeah, seems a lot bigger…like a mullet. ;) (Business in the front, party in the back!) LOVE the granite and the kitchen AND the new bar stools. Good choice there! At some point, pics with furniture? Yay for the reunion. Good break from routine and I bet Wiz enjoyed himself. Ugh on the diet. Those aren’t fun. Hopefully, it’s only one or two foods and they aren’t high on your yummy list. That said, we had a friend who had to do that and they never did find the trigger food. The good news is, he isn’t currently having problems so that’s a yay.

My weekend was busy. Soccer on Saturday–which conflicted with siren test. Stormy’s team lost but he played well and they are signing him up for winter indoor soccer because he’s decided he likes it. We all trekked up to our fave Mexican restaurant after the match because…First Saturday! My OSU Cowboys beat Baylor and moved up two spots to #7 in the polls. OU lost. Again. My Cards did well and there was a big ceremony before the game yesterday to honor Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina (my FAVE player!) who are retrining after this season. They’re in the post-season though so YAY!

I also worked on ASSASSIN’S MOON. I got about 20 pages done yesterday before my eyes blurred out but still not done nor is it polished enough to upload. I hope to do that this afternoon, hence no Wallyworld run this morning. Work first, WW tomorrow.

Okay, time to get to work. Thrilled about your new home! It looks like maintenance will be so much easier and the inside is lovely! Have a great week.

I love the open kitchen. The stools are perfect. I’m glad you got them. A walk in pantry sounds like too much fun for me 😁. I’d have it fully stocked and ready to go.

Can’t wait to find out what your first baking item is. Do you have an electric oven or were you able to score gas? I miss gas for baking but my kitchen was not plumbed for gas. We have talked about putting a line through for years but it’s too much work.

I sure hope you’re having fun setting things up.

Oh boy, I would hate doing that diet. But if it figures out what makes you ill, it’s worth it.

Our trip to my mom’s was good. I got the cleaning done and Chris fixed more things around the house for her. He’s made a mental list of other things to do next time.

I hope you have a fantastic afternoon.

PS. How’s Maggie doing? I hope she loves her new digs.

Hi Carrie and thank you! It’s a dream kitchen for us :-)

I love almond butter and can eat that, which is awesome. I’m not supposed to eat apples but I’ll find something to pair it with, thanks!

I don’t blame you for not keeping up with the detox diet. It’s hard to maintain with busy lives, and this diet is only supposed to be for 2 to 6 weeks so it’s not forever.

    Happy Monday!

B.E. thanks so much! I can’t wait to bake, but first, I have to organize my cake decorating and baking stuff now that I have more room. It will be a chore but worth it once it’s done.

I will do a lot to feel better at this point. It’s all long and boring to talk about but the things I was doing clearly wasn’t working.

I hope the quiet is exactly what you need after a busy an demanding work week. LOL on long pants, I’m short so that’s the story of my life. But taller people tell me it’s hard to find pants long enough so I can see where it’s unusual for you to have that issue. Tip: My cleaners hems my pants for like $10.00. That’s so worth it to me!

Yay on cool enough to take walks again! I’m looking forward to my later in the day walks with Maggie again too.

Hope your week is off to a great start at the job!

Silver LOLOL on the mullet! It’s pretty much the way homes are designed out here now. This house does have more square footage than our old house, but the lot itself is much smaller (less for Wizard to maintain!) And thanks on the kitchen and barstools. We already use them so much.

I will post some pics with furniture, but it’s all old furniture until we win the lottery :-)

Ugh, I’m sorry your friend didn’t get results, and that’s a definite possibility with me too. But I do plan on some specific allergy testing, but first we have to get the precautionary tests out of the way. This diet won’t hurt me so I figure no harm in trying. (Except for the expensive foods)

Stormy sure seems to be a good athlete, and even better, a good sport! Winter soccer will be a great way to expend his energy if he likes it, since there’s not as much to do in the winter months. Yay for lunch at your favorite restaurant with your favorite people!

Yay for OSU Cowboys, boo for OU and Yay for the Cards!

I just bought Seal Moon (book 2) today! I’ll have all three before I start reading since I haven’t been reading this last week.

Thanks again on the house! It’s a work in progress (long term, LOL) but now it’s fun.

Hope you got in a lot of words!

Viki, thank you! You’re more amazing than me if you’d have the pantry done! All the food and things are in there, but we are figuring out how we want it organized, and they buy the containers. But this is all the fun part now. Today I got all the drawers lined and I’m happy about that.

We love the barstools and use them all the time.

So my cooktop is gas, and my oven is electric. I thought I’d hate it, but so far, it’s okay. We’ll see when I bake. It’s definitely smaller than I expected so we’ll see. It has convection roast and bake too and I’m interested to try it.

You and your son are so good to your mom, she must really appreciate it! I bet you were tired too. I hope your mom was feeling okay.

Did you get to see Queso?

Maggie seems to be adjusting pretty well. She’s sitting in the office looking out the window to the front and watching everyone. That makes her happy.

    Have a great evening!

The series actually has 7 books. They’re all standalone so it doesn’t matter what order you read them in. ASSASSIN’S MOON is live now on the ‘Zon and will be live other places tomorrow. Also, stop by the blog tomorrow for that cinnamon recipe! Just a reminder. ;)

And in case you are interested, the books in Moonstruck Wolf are:
    1. Blood and Fire
    2. Crash and Burn
    3. Montana Moon
    4. Rescue Moon
    5. SEAL Moon
    6. Asssassin’s Moon
    7. Under the Assassin’s Moon

And thanks for grabbing them! 🥰 I actually just stopped back by to check your replies and to remind you about the recipe tomorrow. LOLOL

Silver, thanks for the reminder on the recipe — I printed it to put in my recipe folder for after the fun stomach diet is over :-) And thank you for the books list, I will check to see if I have them all and read them. I probably have the other ones and they are buried in my kindle library, but now I can search them out. Thanks again!
