It was a good but busy weekend.
Saturday, youngest came over, and he and Wizard rented a truck to bring home wood for Wizard to build a workbench, cabinets and pegboard to hang tools. Hopefully they got all the bigger pieces. While they were gone, I finally had a little time just to clean and do a few things. Once they came home, Youngest hung out for a while. Then Wizard and I headed out to an outlet furniture stores we’d discovered. It was another longish drive, but we finally found couches! We’d spent enough time, energy and gas ($$) to know it was probably the best deal we were going to get. The hardest thing for me is balancing what I love with what is practical. My practical (and cheap!) side won out. It almost always does, LOL. But I think we’ll be happy. Once we have those, I just need two smaller chairs to get all the seating we’d like to have in the great room, but those should be easier (and less expensive!) to find.
Saturday it rained! We had quite a downpour for about twenty minutes. And a lot of heavier drizzle on and off. We can use every drop!
Sunday Wizard finally was able to go racing and I had a quiet, productive and very much appreciated day at home. Most of it was boring to talk about stuff like yoga, vacuuming, ordering “we’ve moved” cards and going to pick them up, and other assorted things. Then I debated between working on my pantry since I got some storage containers and going for an afternoon walk with Maggie. I chose the walk. Sunday was cooler and overcast, while the rest of the week is going to get hot again so we took advantage of the cloudy day and explored. That was fun and good for both of us! Maggie’s sleeping now after quite a long walk on dirt and mud trails.
‘This afternoon, our blinds are supposed to be installed. That is going to be nice! We have been using sheets that we hold back with chip bag clips during the day. I’m sure the neighbors will miss our class once boring blinds are installed
How was your weekend?

Good weekend! Yay for building projects, getting stuff done, new couch, walks with Maggie, racing, and just generally settling in to the new place. Finding curtains I like is my nightmare so I’m all for going with the blinds! More privacy and better light control too.
No soccer this weekend and my OSU Cowboys lost a heartbreaker in double overtime. OU won–finally. We watched some baseball though I don’t really care who moves to the next level. We’ll watch the World Series, becaue…World Series! I guess we’re sort of rooting for the Yankess now because two former Cardinals are playing for them.
I managed a long nap at some point. I also got 20 pages of polishing done before I had to give up on my eyes. Note to self: Follow up on getting an appointment with the specialist.
Wallyworld today. It’s finally cooled off to fall-like temps and we, too, got a dumb of rain Saturday night. Not near enough but like y’all, every drop helps. Freeze watch is out for tonight and tomorrow night. I’m stocking up on “fall fare” to fix for dinner. Shephard’s Pie for dinner tonight and probably spaghetti or chili tomorrow night and one night this week, French onion soup with provolone cheese and roast beef au jus sandwiches.
Pretty much a boring weekend for me too, but that’s life at the moment. LOL Have a great week, all! 🥰

Did Wizard and BLB get to building the bench/cabinet and peg board? My guess that’s this weeks project for Wizard.
I’m glad you go to buy the couches. I’m like you, frugality pays off. You will love the new items in the great room. I hope you’re right that you’re right and can easily find the chairs that fit with your needs.
HURRAY FOR RAIN!
It’s nice that Wizard got to go racing and you and Maggie walking. I bet she had a blast exploring the new digs. It’s cute that she was tuckered out.
Enjoy the blinds and the removal of the sheet. We’ve all been there.
Hubs came home from TN last evening. He eventually told me that he lost his hearing aid sometime Saturday. He doesn’t remember taking it out to charge and couldn’t find it at the house. I searched through all his travel bags and dirty clothes with no success. I have my fingers crossed that DIL will find it while cleaning this week. If not, he will buy another one, even if I have to force the issue.
I didn’t make my soup Sunday. I made it today instead which worked out better. We’ve had high winds and snow/sleet/hail/rain. It’s a messy day and good for a hot bowl of soup (or two).
Sure hope you are enjoying the new blinds. Have a great day!

Silver, I’m not big on curtains and we need the blinds to block the sun at times. I’m also lazy and blinds are easier, LOL!
Sorry about your Cowboys. Wizard’s been watching the playoffs just to see the Dodgers lose. I just shake my head at him. His team has been out for a while now, so he just lives to annoy Dodger fans (mainly two of his brothers).
You need to get that eye appointment! But polishing and editing are a recipe for eye strain. Yay for getting 20 pages done!
I love French Onion soup but have never made it. Enjoy the cooler weather and fall dishes!

Viki, they just got it all home. Wizard with some help from me, got the peg board up today. Youngest will help if he needs it.
Thanks we are happy about the couches, or we will be once they come tomorrow and look as we hope I’m excited to have enough comfortable seating once we’re done. But budget makes final decisions, LOL.
The sheets are gone! They didn’t really bug me the first couple weeks, but it’s nice to have blinds again.
Oh no on hub’s hearing aid! Hopefully DIL finds it. Who knows where smaller stuff like that vanishes too. But it’s not fun to have to replace them.
Sounds like a great soup day! Not so much for driving though I hope you have a great evening!
