Cookies are Good Luck

Yesterday was one of those days. But I don’t want to get into life’s frustrations — we all have them, right? Instead, I’ll tell you a small win. I ran to a discount grocery store to buy some roasted, salted macadamia nuts for cookies. I found the nuts…but then I accidently stumbled across something else.

A cutting board!

We’ve been looking forever for a big cutting board to replace my old one that resembles an ancient crime scene. I couldn’t find one the right size or at a bearable cost. Yet on this day, I found a perfect sized, bamboo cutting board with the well around it (for drippings) for only $11.99! Sold!

Today the food grade mineral oil I need to condition the board should arrive and I’m weirdly excited about this cutting board :-) But you know what’s even better? I found this board while out buying ingredients to bake cookies. So what’s the moral of this story?

Clearly cookies are good luck! We all need more cookies in our lives!

Happy Wednesday!

:hugs: Sorry you had one of those days. But yay for finding a cutting board you can love. Cookies are indeed good luck! And now I want cookies.

I’m going to be making a German chocolate layer cake tomorrow to take to work on Friday. (It’s a co-worker’s 21st birthday this weekend.) I’ve never done a German chocolate cake and I haven’t done a layer cake in probably 25 years. (Of course, the cake is box and the frosting is tub, but a gal’s gotta start somewhere, right? lol)

Yes! Moar COOKIES! Yeah, frustrations happen. Blerg. But yay for macadamia nuts, cutting boards (I 💖💖💖 bamboo anything! I have a bamboo bread slicing rack) and good luck. When you count the little good things, they stack up against a big bad thing.

I actually got a lot of work done yesterday and hope, after my trip to Wallyworld today, that I actually finish polishing (and yes I’m STILL finding weird little typos), formatting and uploading by dinner tonight. If not, then first thing in the morning. Progress! (After weeks of stagnation. Double blerg.)

    Happy Wednesday! 🥰

Excellent score! Yes, cookies are good luck :).

FYI – You can use mineral oil from the first aid section at the drug store or Wally on the board. It’s much cheaper and it’s meant to be swallowed.

I had a FB DM at 3:15am yesterday from my longest friend. We’ve been friends since we were 6, so 54 years. Her husband died that night. It’s so awful. He was just 60 too. The worse thing is I know that words do nothing to comfort in a situation like this. She’s in FL and some of his family live there too so she does have support. It’s just tragic. Makes me VERY thankful for all I have been blessed with.

Oh – we had 3 inches of snow the other day. It’s all gone now but more is coming tonight. It will be pretty.

Sure hope you have a great afternoon and that the cookies were yummy (how could they not be yummy ;)?

    B.E., thanks! Today is better!

Yay for tackling the German Chocolate Cake! You’ve got this! And box cakes are perfectly good in my opinion. Your coworker will be thrilled! I bet everyone there will be!

I can’t wait to hear how the cake turns out!

Silver, yes! I try to count the little wins for just that reason.

You’re on a roll! I love when that happens. It’s a TON of work. Aren’t those typos annoying? Hope you make/made your deadline, but even if you didn’t, you’re close!!

Viki, thanks for the tip on the mineral oil! I have food grade now but I’ll know this option for the future.

Thats such tragic news about your friend losing her husband. I’m so sorry. He was so young too, the shock must be terrible for her and for you. Just being her friend is helpful right now and for the long process ahead of her. I’m really glad she has you for a friend. But I’m truly sorry. Hugs.

Wow that’s a good amount of snow! I made one small batch of a different kind of cookie today and they came out really good. Now I’m crossing my fingers they freeze well.

Well, I forgot the trick about turning cakes out onto a plate and ended up breaking the bottom layer into three pieces. Thank goodness for frosting. And it’s not noticeable, so it’s all good. I should probably take a picture for posterity. My first German chocolate cake = my last German chocolate cake. I don’t actually like German chocolate cake, LOL. Next up, triple chocolate cake with strawberry frosting. There’s a cake I can get behind.
