Weekend Roundup

We didn’t get snow here, but the hills and mountains around us have snow! Sunday we got a break from the rain, and it was picturesque here. We only get this kind of beauty once every few years, so I love it, which is also why I keep harping on it.

Saturday it rained all day, so I kept busy with little chores like cleaning cupboards, doing some yoga, and made my simple pizza dough. I’m getting better at pizza dough, but still can’t get it on the pizza stone, LOL. I want a bigger stone and a pizza peel, but I’m not going to invest in that just yet and keep practicing. I want to try some more advanced doughs, and try gluten free. Once I have more experience, I’ll have a better idea what I’ll need. Then I watched a movie while Wizard watched Motocross. The movie was “We Have A Ghost” which I really enjoyed. It helped that I had zero expectations, and was able to suspend disbelief. But it really did crack me up. It followed the whole typical ghost premise of a ghost stuck and someone helps free him or her, learning life lessons along the way. Still I enjoyed it.

Sunday I had a great time seeing an old friend. We have to get together more often! Hours flew by. I also managed to pick up a new pair of sunglasses for a whopping $9.99 because I have a record of abusing my sunglasses :-) I was quite pleased with that too. But mostly, I’m just happy to see a friend. Friends are priceless, and now that life is calmer, I need and want to make more of an effort.

Then I rushed home to get some bread mixed and proofing and take Maggie for a second walk because the day it too gorgeous (although cold!) to waste. We have a few more days of rain coming in, and both Maggie and I get restless if we don’t get in enough exercise.

So that was my weekend, now I’d love to hear about yours!

Yay for all your good things! Sounds like you had a busy but happy weekend. :hugs:

It’s a blustery day here. I ran errands on Saturday and did household stuff yesterday – like taxes… ew. When I got groceries, I totally forgot ice cream. Derp. Yesterday afternoon, as a reward for doing the taxes, we went to the store and got two bricks worth of frozen goodness. Then I had a big bowl of something called Outlaw Crunch. (Not as awesome as I’d hoped, but still yummy.) Yes, I am an ice cream addict. But I’m still a functioning member of society, so it’s not a problem. LOL

Yay for friends, pizza, bread, pretty views, and walks with Maggie! Sounds like y’all had a good weekend and while limiting activity, the rain is a good thing, yeah?

College softball has started so I listened to several of the OSU Cowgirl’s games. They won them all. And then the first two Cardinal games were televized on Saturday and Sunday. Yay baseball season!

Frankly, that’s pretty much all I did. I’m still restricted about lifting and bending–ugh!

We did have a bit of excitement last night. A crazy stormy system barreled through the entire state–the leading edge of your snow storm. We got crazy winds, tornados and a bit a rain. They were moving 65-90 mph west to east so they didn’t stick long. Tornadoes would spin up between one radar sweep and the next. Insane! We did get the storm shelter open and prepared to duck underground but the first tornado occluded (made a 90 degree turn from east to north) about 5 miles west of us so totally missed. Then another spun up and appeared to be coming straight for us but it moved on east of us before it actually set down. There’s damage about a mile south and east and I tried for almost an hour to get to our Walmart to do my Monday grocery shopping. (Yes, I CAN drive now! YAYAY!!! And since I had nothing heavy on the list, Jake and went alone.) The store said it was open but all the roads needed to get there were closed and I-40 traffic backed up so people thought to get on Reno (the next main thoroughfare) only it was closed at the street I drive down to turn east on Reno to get to the Wallyworld. Argh! Crazy traffic. Heck, I couldn’t even get to my back-up Starbucks. We’ll try again tomorrow. LOL

Anyway, lazy weekend. Gonna try to get motivated this week to be productive. We’ll see how that goes. LOLOL Have a good one, all!

Silver – When I saw the weather last night, I was worried. I am SO happy that you are okay. Sorry about not being able to get to Wally or Starbucks. But it’s best to take it easy and be safe.

Jenn – The hills and mountains must be a lovely sight covered in snow. Does this crazy weather kill the poppies?

YOU did some fun busy things on Saturday. I’m glad you enjoyed the movie. Getting the dough to the stone – have you formed the crust on cornmeal? And do you peel and stone have cornmeal on them? It’s usually easier to kind of shake the dough off the peel to the stone if you use enough cornmeal. Eldest says to get a large peel. It will be easier to handle the dough with a larger one.

Meeting with friends is the best and you scored a great buy on the sunglasses. Win Win.

My weekend was ok. The furnace was repaired. Iran errands, cooked, cleaned baked brownies and hubs.

I hope you have a fantastic evening.

B.E., thanks, our weekend required a little adjusting appointments for the weather, but we just rolled with it and made it a good weekend anyway :-)

Ugh on taxes — that is never fun but it must be done.

How do you forget ice cream???? I’m so glad you were able remedy that! Glad the Outlaw Crunch was at least good if not great.

I’m pretty sure were all addicted to something. For me it’s coffee and dark chocolate. We have to take our joys in life where we can!

Silver, yes the rain is a very good thing! Sort of an unexpected blessing this year since it didn’t look promising in the long range forecast. I’m also happy that we are getting breaks between the storms too so the ground can drain a bit.

Your Cowgirls are off to a good start!

YIKES! I saw the storms for OK, Kansas and TX in my news feed and wondered about you! I’m so glad you guys are ok! Tornados are so scary. Man that’s more excitement than you guys need! Hope the animals did okay through all that.

I imagine that was a frustrating hour trying to get to Walmart, then to not even be able to get to Starbucks is just cruel :-) I hope the roads clear up soon, but I imagine it’s very chaotic in all the areas dealing with the aftermath of tornados.

I’m happy to hear you’re able to drive and do small things now. But it’s going to take time to get back to your normal activities.

Today feels lazy for me :-)

Viki, I was using rice flour on the back of a cookie sheet, but I can try corn meal thanks! I still haven’t gotten a pizza peel, it’s one of those things I keep hoping to find in stores, but never do. I want to see it to get a better idea of what I want. I need to just give in and order one!

My guess is the cold and frost will kill this early round of poppies but they will pop back up later in spring. This was an early bloom. So far, closing the trail has controlled the situation here.

I’m very relieved you got the furnace repaired and browning are always a win in my book! I hope this is a pretty good week for you. You’re dealing with a lot these days, and I’m hoping you’re able to get a fun break like coffee or lunch with a friend now and again.
