Weekend Roundup

The weekend was good! Saturday, we had four chairs for our patio delivered (I love free delivery!). Once they arrived, Wizard said, “I know you’ve been thinking it already, but when you were gone yesterday, I took Maggie to Home Depot and we looked at portable propane firepits that could work with this set.”

I laughed, because yes I had been thinking it and looking myself :-) But we aren’t committed to that yet as we must wait for the final verdict from the Budget Office at the end of the month. But the way he said he already knew I’d been thinking about it was too funny. The only one who knew I was looking at those firepits was Maggie. And should couldn’t have told him….wait…I took Maggie with me when I was looking at them at Home Depot! Maybe she showed him when he took her there???

Back to Saturday; later that day, Special K and Turbo came over. We had fun! Turbo checked out the “new” backyard with all the changes. He was slightly unsure until I showed him the section of hill that is all dirt just for him in. He was thrilled! He immediately started digging and playing with his trucks. Special K and I were chatting while watching him until Grandpa came out and shooed us away, which made us both laugh. But he deserves his one-on-one time with Turbo since I got him all to myself last time I saw him.

I also made chicken enchiladas that I was happy with. That’s a win for me. Now I just hope I can remember how I made them since I didn’t really follow the recipe.

On Sunday, I also made some cupcakes to pop in the freezer to use if we can for my Mother-In-Law’s birthday this week. Unfortunately, Wizard has jury duty so we aren’t sure how the week is going to go. This way once he has a free day, all I have to do is take the cupcake out of the freezer, whip up a batch of Bailey’s chocolate frosting and pipe it on then I’m ready to go. While the cupcakes were in the oven, I finally remembered to check my  bottle of Bailey’s liquor (after I’d gone to the store, of course). I only use it for baking and can’t remember how old is is. Well now I know — old enough for the sugars had crystalized and turn it was a lumpy mess. Sigh. I tossed it out and see another trip to the store in my near future :-)

That was my weekend, how was yours?

Yay for chairs and Maggie is one smart pup. Just sayin’… Mmmm. Bailey’s! Ugh on jury duty. Hopefully a short docket and then MiL celebrations. But most of all? YAYAYAY for Turbo and Special K time.

Stormy had a good soccer game Saturday though the team didn’t. It was cold and windy but we were there!

Sadly, the one whistly bell LG didn’t check was the moonroof. The truck is at our mechanic’s to get it back on track. It opened fine but then wouldn’t close. It’s a known deal with the trucks but LG doesn’t want to mess with it anymore than he already has. Sadly, it’s in the open position so he taped a blue tarp on it. Hopefully, Lonnie or one of his guys can figure it out.

Lots of softball and baseball. Sadly, it was a mixed W/L bag. Ah well.

We didn’t do much of anything else. I did fix chicken-fried steak sandwiches for dinner last night. They were yummy. Tonight is soft tacos. I fear I’m all about the easy-peasy these days. LOLOL

    Have a great week, all!

I bet you love those new chairs 😊. Sounds like Maggie whispered into Wizard’s ear about the fire pit. Sure hope the Budget Office can give approval.

It’s so nice to be able to spend time together one on one every now and then. Sounds like you all had a very nice visit.

Happy Birthday to MIL. What a good idea to make those cupcakes early and find out that the Bailey’s had turned. Sorry you didn’t know before you went shopping, but isn’t that how it seems to go?

I’ve never made enchiladas. Last night C&C had them for dinner. I was thinking of asking her how to make them and do it this week. Hubs may not like them, I have no idea 😉.

Saturday the nurse said my mom had her death rally. She had called me in the morning and was clear and happy. The best conversation we’d had in weeks. She did the same with my SIL. Then she crashed and didn’t recover. She’s full of morphine now so hopefully she is in no pain and will be in peace.

    Have a wonderful afternoon!

Silver, dang doesn’t it just figure that something had to go wrong with the truck? But hopefully you’ll get that fixed and it’ll be a great vehicle for many years to come.

Yay for Stormy playing a good game even if his team didn’t win. And you guys being there is so important! But I remember sitting through a ton of cold games during baseball season. Soccer was always hot and blissfully limited in time compared to baseball :-)

Nothing wrong with easy peasy meals.

Hope you get some good news on the truck!

Viki, we do love the chairs! The Bailey’s thing was funny, but I can just make vanilla or chocolate frosting if I don’t get it from the store.

I also meant to tell you that my freeze dried sourdough starter hydrated perfectly and now looks very active. I may use it this week if I can — this week is a bit complicated due to family and Wizard’s jury duty.

Your cooking skills are easily up to enchiladas. Lasagna is harder in my opinion.

I’m so glad you had those good moments with your mom on the phone. Hugs to you all. It’s a hard time for your entire family.

Hope you have a good evening!
