Weekend Roundup

Pretty good weekend aside from being hot and humid. The highlight was going to see Turbo on Sunday. We went out in the afternoon, hung out at their house for a bit, then went to dinner and the park when it was cooler. We all went in Turbo’s new truck, and he loaded inhis and Turbo’s bikes too. Once at the park, Turbo showed off all his skills climbing and jumping. Then before it got dark, Oldest got his and Turbo’s bike down, tossed the keys to Wizard and we (Wizard, myself and Special K) and we drove home while Oldest and Turbo rode their bikes — it’s a 10 or 15 minute bike ride.

Now Wizard really wants a truck like that. Nothing surprising there, Wizard has been thinking about a truck for a while and he’d make good use of it. What is surprising is that now I want one too :-) I just really like it, and it was fun. Plus it’s small enough I’d be comfortable driving it, but big enough for us to be useful. But we’ll see.

Hanging out with them was a great way to end our weekend!

How was your weekend?

Awesome weekend! And how cool that Oldest and Turbo rode their bikes home. What an adventure! We’ve almost always had a truck. Way back in the way-back, I traded my Ford LTD for a Chevy truck. LG traded in his Jeep for a truck and has never looked back. In his case, the bigger the better though! He has a crew-cab (4 foors, seats 5), long bed and 4WD. I can drive it if I don’t have to park it in a crowded parking lot. LOL I much prefer my Highlander though!.

Our weekend was hot but not as hot as it could have been. Stormy played an awesome soccer match and when he subbed in as goalie, he kept the score tied so that it ha to go to a kick-off, which his team won (goal made by another good player but that was okay). They placed 3rd in the league. This fall, he’s moving up to an “academy” league where the players are more serious about the game, there aren’t any tantrums, and not everyone has to play an equal amount of time. We’re all for this move because Stormy, despite being easy-going and a good teammate, has expressed some frustration. He’s one of 3 of the best players on the old team, if not the best. And no, that’s not Proud Jammie™ talking. Thata’s a former coach talking.

The heat pretty much wiped us out (that and LG had to make an early-morning trip up the turnpike for a meeting) so we napped Saturday afternoon. I hit Wallyworld yesterday because it was forecast to be cooler than today and today, Jake has his follow-up at the vet’s. And yes, there were more naps. LOL

All in all, a lazy weekend. I need to get my tail in gear and get some actual writing work done this week. I have no one but myself to blame. LOL Have a great one, all!

Sounds like a really great time with Turbo and family on Sunday. Turbo’s truck sounds great and I don’t blame you and Wizard for wanting one. I love riding in C’s huge truck.

Little side note. My dad, that I really didn’t know at all, died when I was a teen. My brother got his truck. When my brother went into the Air Force he had me take the truck until he got home. I didn’t have a license at the time and learned how to parallel park with the thing. I loved that old FORD.

My weekend was there, nothing really to talk about.

I hope you are having a fantastic day!

Silver, thanks! Oldest and Turbo ride all over, and Special K goes sometimes, other times she’s uses the opportunity to get things done :-) Wizard has always wanted a truck but it was never the right time for various reasons, but now might just be right. Now my middle has a massive truck for pulling his massive RV — he has to have a special class of license to pull the RV. I would not drive that truck! However I 100% trust my son to do it, and only worry about other idiots on the road when he’s pulling the RV. these days there’s the right size of truck for anyone, even me and Special K (who are both height challenged).

Stormy finished his season great! And yay for moving up! It sounds like he’s not only skilled enough, but emotionally ready to handle the more competitive league. He’ll have fun and grow as a player! And I believe that Stormy’s that good, even if you are his grandma :-) Total aside, Turbo is doing physical things I’d think beyond his age, but he also has a dad that let’s him take supervised risks and figure out how to get his body and mind to work together to do it. He’s still young enough at five that I’m not sure if he’s showing some real talent or it’s that his dad creates the environment that lets him do it. Time will tell.

I hear you on the heat. Maggie and I could only manage a half mile walk this morning (unusual for us) in the humidity here and you guys usually have it worse.

Hope all went well with Jake’s appt!

Viki, trucks are fun, aren’t they! And wow, I’m impressed you learned to parallel park in your brother’s passed-down-from-dad big truck! Sounds like you have some very fond memories of that truck.

Well hope your weekend at least wasn’t bad. And that your week is off to a good start!

    BTW, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW!!!!

Jake’s appointment went great. Doc drained a bit more fluid from his ear but is pleased with progress. He’s off the ear drops and just needs to finish off his course of Prednizone. He’s had all his shots and got his nails trimmed. They didn’t even have to drug him. LOLOL She said they did his back feet while he was standing and then he flopped down, rolled over for belly rubs and let them trim his front feet. Dang dog. Won’t let LG or me TOUCH his feet. Grrr. Anyway, we’re taking him back in 3 weeks for another trim because she didn’t want to “quick” him so his nails are still a little long but soooo much better than they were.

Silver, thanks! Great news on Jake!! LOL on letting them do his nails and not you guys :-) I’m always amazed at how good vets and their staff can convince a dog to do stuff we can’t. I’m so relieved to hear Jake’s doing so well!
