Weekend Roundup

Grandma Brag Moment! Turbo got a hit in T-ball, and then got to home plate to score a point! I wasn’t there :-( But his parent had video. It made all of us so happy! He’s beginning to catch onto the game. But five year olds figuring out T-ball has some truly entertaining moments.

And Mom Happy Moment: I drove out to Middle sons in an effort to help them move some stuff around. They are doing a renovation in their house and this was my first chance to see their plans and find out the details. I am so happy for them. This is my daughter in law whose cook is elevated to a gourmet level, and I couldn’t be happier that they are able to do this project. I also took Maggie, and got to see my grand dogs, Jett and Hazel. Maggie is a bit anxious with Jett and Hazel, but those two dogs are great with other dogs so I didn’t worry. I just adore Jett and Hazel.

One funny story, I was helping do a little bit of packing in the kitchen, so Middle Son brought over this small, round cozy bed and a bone so Maggie could lay there and watch us. She got in the bed, then Jett (the huge tank of a dog) ambled over over, slowly walks into the bed,  and butt-nudges Maggie out. He then curled up and chewed the bone. He looked ridiculous in that bed, but very proud of himself. I cracked up. Maggie was fine, she just walked away. For the record, Maggie could have make him leave her alone if she really wanted to. So she chose to let him push her out, but it sure was funny.

I’m keeping this positive, but of course, we’re dealing with some sad things and I’ve noticed something different about myself: Once I would have lost myself in reading to take a mental break. Right now, I can’t seem to get the energy up to even try reading or listening to fiction. But I’m obsessed with some podcasts, even listening to the same ones over to see what I missed. I’m doing a lot of driving around too, and they help pass the time. I’m listening to a lawyer who is a former prosecutor following trials with live feeds. She offers commentary as the trial unfolds, explaining the various rules, etiquettes, legalities and strategies of the lawyering. It’s a weird thing to find soothing, but it’s working for me so I’m not questioning it.

My old friend Insomnia is back for a visit, and guys, I have some questions. Like when I’m tired and stressed, why does my brain think now is a good time to invite Insomnia over for a slumber party? And if Insomnia is going to come over, can’t she, like, at least paint my nails or bake some brownies? I mean, seriously, Insomnia, make yourself useful! (I’m not worried about the insomnia, it’ll pass.)

We still haven’t put out our Halloween stuff, but we really were driving all over this weekend and therefore have a legit excuse. We’ll get it done!

How was your weekend?

Awww. I remember T-ball days. Swarm ball and swing-n-miss until you hit the ball. Dandelion picking in the outfield, running to 3rd instead of 1st. Too cute. Yay for Turbo hitting, getting on base and scoring a run! Yay for middle, awesome cook DiL and granddog time with Maggie! I’m guessing they’re renovating the kitchen? Dogs! They make us smile. The law and trials can be fascinating “veg” fodder. I’m glad you’ve found something to take your mind off things. Hang in there. And I’d loan you Pete. His whole Weird Dream Genii Cat thing has helped my insomnia despite the crazysauce dream content. LOL

My weekend was mostly dull. Soccer Friday night. Stormy played part of the first period at defenseman and then most of the second period at goalie. Only and I were figuratively and at one point, literally chewing our nails. He did good. They lost but they are playing teams that have been together at least one season going into their second or third season.

Saturday, I worked. Sunday, I worked. I’m up to 75K words on the book. Scenes have been slotted in back where they belonged and chapters revised to accomodate the “new” info. The “orphan puzzle” scenes are in some semblence of order. I finished chapter 19, and I made notes on where chapter 20 and beyond need to go. Still excited for this book and that is SUCH a relief! I just hope the enthusiasm remains. LOL

Wallyworld in a few minutes and then it’s back to work for me. I have new words to write. Yay! Have a great and productive week, all! 🥰S

Congratulations Turbo! That’s really an achievement for a 5 year old. It’s so smart that his parents recorded it.

Maggie is a gracious guest and Jett not goofy host 😜. The kitchen renovation sounds wonderful. Glad you got to see what is going to happen and you got to see the pups too.

What you are experiencing isn’t unusual. I find I can’t read. Every time I try I either can’t focus or I fall asleep. I have also found driving to help. I pray that everything is working out as best it can for you.

I feel for you with the insomnia. I don’t let it control me. I just go do stuff, like lift.

Lately I haven’t been able to sleep because of hubs. For the past three days he gets up at least every 20 minutes all night long. He’s having hallucinations at night too. It’s been awful.

I didn’t get to the small business appliance store this weekend. There are 3 but 2 don’t help with lining up installation. Hopefully within the next week I will get there. I am so worried that no matter what they won’t fit. The stress is really beginning to get to me.

I hope you ae having a great day!

Can’t post on chrome again :(

Silver, yes it’s a major kitchen reno that will affect adjacent areas. They did the renovations on the two bathrooms themselves, so they have a fair working knowledge of what to expect.

And yeah, T ball with little ones is hilarious.

I slept better last night, so Pete must be sending vibes :-) We will get through this time like everyone else. And weirdly, it does make me worry less about my throat as others need us (but I am following up and doing all the things I need to do).

Yay Stormy! I know they lost, but they clearly worked hard and did their best. It’s also a good way to build their team’s ability to work together. I’m guessing you’re very proud even if you chewed your nails!

Your worked a lot this weekend, but it sounds like you got a heck of a lot done! If you’re this far into the book and still excited, I think it’ll stick to The End! It’s a great feeling so feed it lots of coffee and keep going!

Hope the trip to Wallyworld was a breeze and the words are flowing!

Viki, my daughter in law is really good at recording most of Turbo’s bit moments. Plus he called Grandpa to tell him all about it. Needless to say, Grandpa was thrilled!

Maggie was somewhat gracious :-) She was more anxious than usual, but right now, that doesn’t surprise me. Jett and Hazel are such well socialized dogs, I wasn’t worried they’d react to her increased anxiety. They definitely outshine Maggie in that department, but she is pretty good. It was super good for me too :-)

Well I guess we’re alike again in handling stress :-) And thank you for your prayers. Wizard and I will be fine, and are trying to help those who need it. My health stuff will probably turn out to be something stupid and minor. I feel bad even mentioning it when I see what others are dealing with.

Yikes I’m so sorry about hubs frequent hallucinations at night. I can only imagine how hard that is. I wish I knew a way to help, but I don’t so all I can do is listen. Huge hugs.

I would be just like you with the appliance situation. What is frustrating is you don’t have the only house ever that doesn’t have standard size appliances. This shouldn’t be so hard. I really hope you can get out to the small business store soon and find answers there.

Hope this week is a good one for you.
