Friday Five

TGIF! I really hope Friday is a great day for all of us (my Thursday was exhausting and a little weird.) Okay time to share five random things about our week. Here’s mine:

  1. Biker Witch had a birthday!  We went to lunch on Tuesday to celebrate which was nice. Probably more for me than her because I dumped a lot of current life stuff on her :-). Seriously guys, she’s a saint for listening to me! But the next day, her daughter, who is currently living out of the country,  showed up for a surprised birthday visit. I am thrilled for my sister getting to see her daughter! It’ll be nice if I get a chance to see my niece too, but life’s moving fast at the moment, so we’ll see.
  2. Wizard’s brother arrives later today (well technically it’s yesterday since you’re reading this on Friday, but I’m writing it on Thursdays). He’s been trying to get here for a while, so we’re glad he’s able to do it. It’s going to be a very quick trip to see another of their brothers and their mom, so it’s not precisely a fun trip. But I’m very glad he’s here, and it’s good for Wizard too. He’s leaving Saturday morning, so it really is a whirlwind.
  3. There’s been a lot of weirdness this week, but so far, this one stole the show. I was washing  sheets and blankets for company. When I went to move the blanket from the washer to the dryer, I couldn’t hope the door. It was jammed and I could only open it maybe a quarter of an inch. I figured out the laundry basket was wedged behind the door somehow. I used a yardstick (anyone remember those??) under the door and with a bit of maneuvering, I was finally able to moved it, and we opened the door. The washer had gone off balance, moved several feet and wedged the laundry basket into the closed door. It was one of the weirdest things I’ve seen. But all worked out. Sometime in the next several days, we’ll get one of our sons over here and to help Wizard reset the legs to balance it.
  4. Maggie is still waking me over and over at night. Once my brother-in-law leaves, we’re going to try to various things to see what works with her. There’s a solution and we’ll find it once we focus on it. In the meantime, I’m a zombie, but at least my timing for zombiehood is good with Halloween right around the corner :-)
  5. No idea what will happen this weekend, but we’re getting pretty good at rolling with whatever comes our way!

That’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Happy Belated to Biker Witch and yay for surprises! 🥰 Good thoughts for a great visit for Wiz and family! 🤗 Haunted washer! It is getting to be Halloween time. 👻 Poor Maggie. I hope y’all get it figured out. 😟 And here’s to fun, travel and adventure for your weekend! (Or naps. 😴 Okay, my five.

    1. We got an inch of rain this week! That’s a big yay though not near enough. Also, a front came through with another due today. We could hit the 30s for a low tonight! Today’s high is forecast for all of 70. YAY!

    2. Cooler temps means long sleeves, boots, and jacket for soccer game tonight.

    3. New words aplenty this week, though I also “lost” some as I combined and rearranged scenes. The thing about being a “puzzler” is that sometimes, the pieces overlap because they’re written at different times and don’t get moved into place until it’s time in the plot. That’s okay. I’m thinking close to 100K for this one. Which is a bit scary for me! 😲

    4. It’s been a boring week. The highlight seems to be that I changed the August/September End-of-Summer door wreath for the Witchy Halloween wreath. 🎃

    5. And to top things off, Pete-n-Loki story of the week. I spent a couple of bucks for some catnip mice and catnip spray to “renew” the scent on them. There were three in the package. I gave one to each cat with one spare. Loki batted his around for about a minute then swatted it into the bedroom where he shoved it under the bedskirt. Pete carried his around for awhile, batting it, pouncing, and tossing then leaping to catch it. Then it disappeared. Lawyer Guy found the 3rd mouse in the “junk bowl” on the counter and tossed it down. Pete and Loki had a stare-down like an Old West gunfight. Then Pete lunged, Loki batted it away and the mouse is now under the fridge. Oh, they both crouched and stared–from opposite ends of the freezer drawer–but when the mouse didn’t come out, they both stood up and walked away in different directions. Cats! 😸🐱‍👤

Have a great weekend, all. Soccer tournament Sunday but it’s out of town and will be a very long day starting early and ending late so plans are up in the air. I’ll be switching bed linens and doing laundry in between. Hope you’re having fall weather. 🍁

    1. I happy you were able to get together with Biker Witch. It’s nice that she’s there for you. I’m sure you are always there for her too.
    2. Wizard and his brother must have a great time during this visit. Time is short.
    3. Our kids are wonderful to us. Getting the washer balanced shouldn’t take too long.
    4. Good sense of humor in dealing with the disturbed sleep from Maggie. I’ll be praying that you find the cause of the disturbed sleep. Being a zombie is no fun, at least not for me. I get super crabby.
    5. Here’s to your weekend being fun.

1a. Harrison is here. They got in just before 7 last night.
2a. The wall oven arrived around 9 this morning. It’s currently in the garage where it stays until C and the other guy to work out when to install it.
3a. It’s much cooler today than yesterday. It’s going to get even cooler, highs in the low 50’s. I love it.
4a. Spunk was so funny when Harrison arrived. Spunk thought it was C and went to greet him at the door. I told him he would be disappointed but being a cat, he gave me the look. So I opened the door and Spunk took one look at Harrison and went into hiding. He did come out this morning and realized H was ok and hung out with him for a bit.
5a. I was going to make chili for dinner but soup instead. It’s one of those days where either will be nice.

    Have a great weekend!

Silver, I’m so sorry for the late answer. I’m losing track of days right now. And thanks on Maggie, but I’m sure there’s a way to help her settle. As long as she’s eating and her normal happy self, I’m not worried, just tired :-)

    1) Yay for rain! I know you guys really need it.
    2) Let’s hear it for fall weather clothes!
    3) This book is coming together fast. I know it may not feel like it to you as you write and “work the puzzle” but it seems to be flowing much easier than the last one. Which just shows that sometimes stepping away from a project then returning can do wonders for our creativity.
    4) Boring is good too! I love witchy wreaths.
    5) Cats are never boring! They had fun with their cat-nip mice and entertained you guys (and us) in the process :-) For me, the image of Pete throwing his mouse then leaping up to catch it makes me smile.

Hope your weekend is going well!

Viki, thanks, we will eventually get Maggie settled at night and a sense of humor is pretty much getting us through life with a few things right now :-)

Also sorry for being late. We’re on the run right now, and can’t even keep the day of the weak straight.

    1) Yay for Harrison being there! I hope you’re having a wonderful time!
    2) At least you have the oven now. And once Harrison and family are gone, and C has time, it’ll get done. Then you can make that worry off your list.
    3) I’m happy to hear you’re getting fall weather too.
    4) Poor Spunk, he must have been so sad. Of course he should have listened to you but he really wanted it to be C. That’s good that he finally came around to H.
    5) I think both soup and chili sound like perfect fall weather dinners!

Hope your getting plenty of time to hang out with H and his family!
