For this weekend roundup, I’m just going to about one thing — family.
So Wizard’s brother came and we knew it’d be a whirlwind visit. That all went great. But I wondered how it’d be as we haven’t seen the brother in a few years. I had nothing to worry about. Of course, Wizard and he were fine, they talk all the time. But he and I soon fell right back into the relationship we’d always had, and it was both happy and comforting. In fact, Wizard went to bed the two nights, while brother and I stayed up and talked. Family is strong when we embrace it, and accept one another for who we are.
And secondly, our sons. Youngest is physically closest and he’s been with us off and on for three days, and doing most of the driving. Oldest came on Sunday where he was need. Middle is on a trip with his wife and we told him not to cut it short. But he did two things from his hotel that meant the world to us.
Family and friends are truly a blessing.
Also, Wizard’s brother bossing him around is priceless He’s the only one, aside from his mom, who can get away with it! Youngest and I both saw it and laughed hard. Wizard just rolled his eyes at us, then grudging did what his brother told him to do. Family dynamics are pretty hilarious to watch sometimes. Wizard is the second oldest, and the brother who stayed with us is the oldest so it all makes sense.
How was your weekend?
P.S. I may not be home much on Monday but I’ll read the comments, then answer when I can. Trust me, no one wants to read and answer I type on my phone!

I am so happy the visit went well and that all the boys got to be involved in one way or another. You have a spectacular family and are very lucky for it! Family dynamics are so very interesting. Funny story from 40 years ago. The day before LG and I got married in my parents’ backyard, we walked into the house from running an errand. The Dads were sitting at the kitchen table. Papa J had his chin planted in his left hand, that elbow planted on the table. Grandad J sat in the same pose, only it was the right arm. Out on the deck, the Moms wore similar style “mumu” dresses, both in the same shade but one light, one dark. They faced each other, each with a hand on a hip and the mother finger of the other hand shaking as they talked at the same time. My dad turned to me and said, “There’s still time to run away.” His dad pulled out a set of car keys. “I gassed up the car.” Our parents were simply older/younger versions of themselves. Yes, we married the next morning, without a hitch, and the vows obvously took. LOLOL Anyway, family is priceless, especially when you have a good one, like you do, Jen.
Okay, short version of weekend. Cold soccer game Friday night. I forgot it was First Saturday so siren test and BBQ but Stormy missed it because he spent the night with his BFF. I napped. Sunday was lots of writing. Temps were pleasant but getting warmer now. Stormy had two matches up the tournpike but we didn’t go. LG is having some issues and a day that would start before sunup and end about sundown was just too much. It sucks to be old but Stormy didn’t care. Off to Wallyworld once the sun is up, then laundry and more words. Have a great week, all!

It’s nice that your visit with Wizard’s brother went pretty well. You getting to spend the evenings chatting with him sounds very comforting.
I’ve noticed the family dynamic thing too. Doesn’t seem to matter how long we’ve been apart, when we reunite, we tend to flow right back into our family vibe.
I hope today wasn’t too rushed and that all was okay.
Our weekend was good with Harrison and family. We all went out to Hibachi for dinner. Harrison just loved the show. C took several photos of the kid watching the chef work. Harrison’s facial expressions were priceless.
I hope you had a good day.

Silver, thanks, our family is far from perfect and a little bit crazy, but we are lucky to not have had a tragedy or event pull us apart.
I love the story of the two sets of parents mirroring each other! I also love their sense of humor I went the other way, telling my daughters in law there was no return policy because I loved my DILs so much.
Hope all Stormy’s games went well! He sure is growing up now — once they start spending nights with BFF’s we know their beginning the process of developing their own lives (fortunately, it’s a long process!)
I hope LGs issues resolve or improve. Smart to miss the matches on Sunday though, we need to pace ourselves these days so we’re her for the long run, right?
Hope your week is going well!

Viki, it’s nice how that family bond stays strong over separation and time. It’s also nice how the family (Wizard’s and ours) are working together to get everyone through the current situation. That makes it easier on everybody.
Yesterday I did a lot, but also, it was a better and calmer day. That was very helpful.
I am so happy you had a good visit with Harrison and family. I can imagine how intrigued he was by the chef show! I mean I’m amazed when I see what the chefs can do, so I’m sure Harrison was completely awed. Yay for catching those expressions in pics!
Hope your week is rolling along in the best way!
