Weekend Roundup

The weekend was good and we got a lot done, although I overdid it a bit. That’s all fine though, things got done, including baking a heck of a lot of cookies and freezing some, making two loaves of sourdough bread, unpacking some of the office boxes and doing some arranging, cleaning bathrooms and washing floors.

But the biggest win was figuring out a way to give Maggie her pills. She normally pretty good about taking medication, but she hates the one she needs to assist her bladder control. Plus they are huge. To make a really long story short, I cut the pills in half, and grind each half into powder, then mix it with her canned dog food to make meatballs. So now at her breakfast and dinner, instead of mixing canned dog food into her dry kibble, I give her dry kibble and one specially made meatball. She loves it and eats it first then happily eats her kibble. I guess the medicine can’t touch her kibble? I don’t know. I tried cheese, peanut butter, pill pockets, mixing it with all her food, and nope. But this works so it’s a win!

We’re really looking forward to our Campsgiving (Thanksgiving at a campsite). We’ll be at the campsite during the day and staying in a hotel at night :-) Totally my style. Okay it’s just a Best Western, but it gives us a little downtime and that is something we like. We are just happy the kids want us around. Oh and there’s a huge Great Dane there named Charger. I’ll try to get a picture this time. I’m pretty sure Maggie will be fine him as he’s very chill.

My one gripe right now is that the gray is showing in my hair, and I haven’t had time to go take care of that. I think I need to learn to color my own hair, it just grows too fast. But I’m leery of what disaster I might create!

Oh and youngest son stopped by this weekend. He wants his dad to paint a model car for him, which I thought was pretty cool. Wizard has really developed some skills in building and painting models over the last few years. In fact, he’s been teaching me to use my airbrush when I get the opportunity. But getting back to youngest, he brought up going back to Cambria again. So we discussed it — no plans, it was really just chatter. But we love that he wants to do it again!

That was my weekend, how was yours?

Wow! Busy times and lots of fun things to look forward to. Yay. Puppers are funny when it comes to pills Jake is happy with his wrapped in a slice of American cheese. Surprisingly, he’ll just nom his Heartguard and Nextguard pills. Glad you found a tasty solution for Maggie!

We basically did jack this weekend. I had to turn the OSU game off and stop checking for updated scores because everytime I did, the other team made a huge play. Luckily, they came back from a double-digit deficit and won by 13 points.

Stormy did awesome at the Thanksgiving program. Only gave up and put him in jeans, a flannel shirt (with a white wife-beater undershirt), suspenders, and a Tractor Supply baseball cap. He’d outgrown his boots so she had him try on her Ariat boots. They fit him perfectly. She may not get them back until he outgrows them. LOLOL

We had rain yesterday so I just stayed in, warm and dry, and wrote a 2200-word new chapter after fixing a BIG OOPS! continuity problem on Saturday. Better now than later because the fix affected the next several chapters, including the new one! I’m now up to almost 92K words on this book. It’s crazy!

Wallyworld this morning but instead of working, I want to go take a nap. Ugh. Have a great week all!

You sure got quite a bit accomplished over the weekend.

Excellent idea on the meatballs with Maggie’s medicine. I had never thought of it. I’m going to store that away in case the dog parents in my family ever have a problem.

Hair – yikes. I know exactly what you mean about how fast it grows. Crazy. I have no desire for the mess of coloring my own hair. If you decide to do it I wish you all the best.

My phone crashed today while I was backing it up on my computer. I was so freaked out. Eventually I got it restored. I don’t have icloud so if I had to go buy a new phone I’d have to start from scratch. Thank heaven it seems okay at the moment.

I’m really behind today because I spent 2 hours with my phone. Better go work on dinner.

    Have a wonderful afternoon.

Silver, dogs really are particular. But I’d rather give a dog meds than a cat :-) Jake is a special and usually easygoing dude!

So glad OSU pulled it off in the end, but they sure gave you stress along with way!

LOL on her boots! Okay it’s probably not funny to her, cause she probably has those boots perfectly broken in. And yay for finding the right “costume” for Stormy without breaking the bank. I clearly remember those stresses as a parent. Great job Stormy on the play, but I never doubted him. He’s such a great all-around kid.

WOW!! You didn’t do jack this weekend, you wrote! That’s impressive. I hate those oops, but they happen and you got it sorted. And yeah, the book is getting long (mine always did) but this book just needs that man words! Keep going!

Hope all went well at Wallyworld. Maybe you got a quick nap in and then wrote?

Viki, things kind of snowballed in a lot of tasks this weekend, but we had the time so we didn’t mind.

I hope Maggie’s Meatballs helps if anyone else runs into the same problem.

Yikes, your phone crashing had to be a big stressor in your day. You must have been so relieved to get it restored. I hate getting new phones. Aside from the expense, I find it all-around aggravating. But you dodged that bullet for now!

Hope you are able to catch up without getting too tired.
