Okay, so Wizard is trying to convince me that if I drink beer — which I don’t like — I can lower my risk of heart disease by 30%. He heard that in some “study” on TV:
“Witch, did you hear that? You can lower your risk of heart disease by drinking beer!”
Me, “I don’t like beer.” I don’t care that he drinks it, I just can’t do it. Ugh.
“But you’d look so sexy.” (Okay I can’t help his weird fixation on this. Sorry!)
Me, “Not happening.”
“But it’s good for you.”
Me, “I’ll take my chances. Besides the red wine I’m drinking occasionally–” I frowned at the loud choking sound coming from Wizard. I glared at him. “Did you want to say something?”
“Uh..no? You only drink wine every night…uh occasionally.”
I wisely let that go. “Anyway, I’ll take my chances on heart disease. I’m not drinking beer.”
He tried another tactic. “I’ll eat broccoli if you try beer.”
I fixed another glare on him. “You’ll eat your broccoli anyway.” I stopped negotiating on vegetables a long time ago and just put them on his plate. He eats them unless they are something he truly hates like Brussel sprouts or lima beans. Otherwise, he eats them because I want him healthy and he knows it. But I wasn’t done. “It’s a stupid study anyway.”
That got his attention. “What about the study saying red wine is good for you?”
What the hell kind of logic is this? Wine obviously trumps beer in any study. Seriously I sometimes wonder how Wizard accumulated all those degrees. But I explained it slowly. “The wine study is a true medical breakthrough. The beer one is stupid college kids making up an excuse to drink and play beer pong.”
He gave me a look as if he had me cornered. “How do you know that?”
I considered that for a moment. “Same way I know that if you keep harping on this, you’ll be having lima beans for dinner tomorrow night.”
He made a hilarious face of disgust. “I’m done talking to you.”
LOLOL!! I won! I’d totally have done the happy dance, but the last time I tried to dance, I managed to (mildly) tear my Achilles so I settled for gloating
Otherwise, I had a great weekend. Saturday I went to lunch and shopping with my sister, Biker Witch And we may have indulged in some incredible cheesecake <g> Sunday I wrote, getting to know my characters and really loving just letting myself work on a the early part of a book without too much external pressure. Then last night, Wizard and I had some wine and made steak and lobster.
How was your weekend?
And just a reminder:

Have you tried Hefeweizen (German honey beer)? I know I stopped drinking, but man, I could really go for some of that. Congrats on winning! Pulling the lima bean card was totally brilliant. Yay for the rest of your weekend being awesome. =o)
I got a wild idea and a bit of gumption, and worked in the gardens – digging up bulbs, planting mums, replanting bulbs. I still have one iris bed to tackle, but not today. I really have to write today. (Especially since I didn’t write all weekend and the deadline is looming.) Okay, maybe I will do a little gardening. I have a bucket with displaced iris bulbs in it. Those need to go back in the ground soon.

I can’t wait! I’m clearing my reading decks so I can dive into the Wingslayers!
I like beer. I now have a reason to stock it and drink it a couple of times a week. We have like four bottles of wine in fridge and they’ve been there for…like…forever! LOL I like wine I just don’t think about opening a bottle with dinner. Popping the top on a bottle of beer? Yeah. That works.
We did family stuff this weekend and I gave into my need for a chicken soup read. Hello, NAKED IN DEATH. Today is coffee with my CP and then I REALLY need to get to work on DEVIL. I have like one more chapter that’s a stumbling block and then I can dive into “character crossover” chapters that will get me to the end. I hope. I’m so behind! *flail* Ah, well. The life of a writer, right? LOLOL
Have a great week, everyone!

B.e., nope having tried it. I’ll take your word for it
You know, gardening is probably a great way to let your mine work on the book, and you get a pretty garden out of it. It’s a win-win! Hope you get a lot of writing done today.

Silver, LOL on beer being easier to open. I’m sure Wizard would agree. We use the same wine opener we bought on our honeymoon. It’s the old fashion kind where you have to pull the cork out. But I have a leverage method that works great.
Coffee with your CP might get you past your stumbling block and you can write a hyperspeed
And yet, this is the life of a crazed writer. But would we choose anything else???

That was too funny. I read it at 3 am but as you know I can only seem to post via the computer. I don’t like beer either except for the spicy pumpkin/warlock I told you about last week. If Wizard does buy one of these ale/beers take a sip. You may like one of them. But I love how you won the discussion ;).
Glad you had a nice time with Biker Witch. Cheesecake sounds good.
Sat. I met my girlfriend for coffee and then we window shopped in Chagrin (it’s a really quaint town).
Later hubs and I took Julie out to dinner. Upon leaving we noticed his brand new car had a flat. I had him call roadside assist – waste of time. He has run flats so they told him it was safe to drive home. NOT! The tire peeled off the rim. Thank heaven he listened to me (doesn’t happen often;)) and pulled over. After waiting for an hour the cops took his keys and said they’d take care of passing them on to the towing guy.
Mercedes stink. His car is at a dealer where they can’t get a tire until Thursday and they have no loaners. Unreal! This was his retirement present to himself. He’s re-thinking things now.
To top off the weekend, I got up to use the bathroom last night and smacked into the wall spitting open my left eyebrow. The week will be looking up :).
I hope you have a great afternoon :).

I with you on the beer and Wizard on the brussel sprouts and Lima beans. They’re all nasty.
I had a nice weekend. Saturday I watched the Buckeyes beat Western Michigan. I was happy to see their play had improved over the last game. It’s a good thing they have a great defense because their offense still needs some work. Sunday, my mom and I walked with our cousins in the Komen Race for The Cure. Then we all went to lunch. The thing I hate about doing the Race: we were out of the house before I’m usually up for work. I had to take a nap when I got home. And I also started reading one of Silver’s books. I’m blanking on the name at the moment but it’s the first wolves one. Is it Blood Moon? Since my new Nook is a real tablet, I downloaded the Kindle app so that I can read some books that aren’t available through Nook
Happy Monday.

Viki, oh wow you had a tough weekend. Is the cut on your eyebrow bad? Did you have to have stitches?
That really is poor customer service at Mercedes. I’m a little surprised, I would have expected better. Wizard hates runflats for just that reason.
I really hope this week is much better!

Dawn, congrats on doing the breast cancer walk — even if you did have to get up and out of the house extra early. It’s a great thing you did!
The Kindle app is useful that away, but I really don’t love that that Kindle is creating programs for books to only be available on their platform. I understand what they are doing from a business point of view. But as an author, I feel it narrows the options for readers too much. It’s frustrating.
Hope you enjoy Silver’s book!!!

Hi Jenn – I was really lucky. The split runs along my brow rather than through it so it should heal well. Hubs is of no help with this type of thing so I knew if I was going for stitches I’d have to take myself. I honestly don’t think it would have required more than two at most so I just butterflied it with bandages I had from when the boys were little :).
Wizard is right about these crazy tires. Poor hubs still has no car. They can’t seem to get him a loaner. What bad business practice :(.
I hope you have a great week.

Viki, ugh! Stitches might have been a good idea, but I’m sure you’re right. Just be careful for a few days so it has a chance to heal. That had to hurt!
I was just telling Wizard today about your experience with run flats and Mercedes. He was outraged for you both. Hope you get the car back soon!
