Friday Five

This new year has started off at hyper-speed. It’s Friday again! So let’s do our random five things about our week

  1. First up, the mudslide devastation here in Southern Ca is pretty grim, but at least we’re having a warm spell to help with the recovery (or rescue if that’s still possible) and assessing the damage.
  2. Maggie is a sun dog. She’s finds any spot of sunshine and claims it as her own This is AFTER she’s convinced me that we must go on the dirt trails the day after heavy rains…which means I’m tramping through mud and rocks like I did when I was a kid (I was a tomboy). I’m regressing…LOLOL! I’m also very careful so I don’t fall and break my ankle :-) Wizard would NEVER let me live that down.
  3. I’ve already mentioned I’m writing a few hours a day. This is huge and I’m excited. I love this book, but for a few months there, I just creatively shut down, plus the pain prevented me from sitting at the computer long enough to think. I don’t know how long this manageable level of pain will last, but I’m embracing it for as long as it does.
  4. Not sure I’ll get the epidural procedure next Thursday or not. For some mysterious reason, our health insurance changed all the member numbers in the new year, and that’s created a ripple wave of headaches. I talked to my pain doctor staff today and they are trying to push it through. But if I have to wait, I’ll see if we can get me in for more trigger point shots to keep me going. I’m thinking positive.
  5. Tomorrow is Special K’s baby shower. I love how the family has come together to work on this. I hope Special K enjoys it! I’ll try to remember to take pictures, but I usually have my phone in my purse and never think to do it until later. I’m really looking forward to being a grandmother!

So that’s my week, not it’s your turn to share your Friday Five. Have a great weekend!

Mudslides are some scary shit. Stay safe over there. :hugs: Aww, Maggie! Yay writing! Fingers crossed for your epidural procedure. And have loads of fun at the babyshower!

    1) We’ve done the ‘working in the woods for fun and exercise’ thing four days in a row now. Then the weather turned and it snowed last night. I guess I’ll either have to brave the cold today or find some way to be active inside.
    2) This has been a good week for my ‘do something active every day’ goal. That’s one week. LOL
    3) I’m slogging along on the edits for Early Grave. I plan to have it ready to send to my editor once she finishes with Blink of an I. :fingers crossed:
    4) The Kid got a B- in Chemistry last semester.
    5) My brain is drawing a blank on a fifth thing. I need more coffee.

First the fires and now the mudslides. So sad. Maggie must be part cat. ;) Hope the insurance clears up. What a pain–figuratively and literally! Sounds like you have a good doc though. Yay for writing!!! And double yay for baby shower! So excited for your family!

    My five…hrmmm
    1) Writing is something of a slow start for 2018. That said, progress is getting made on my April release. Shooter and Lauren are fun to provoke and I got to visit with Hannah, Mac, and Liam from the original Moonstruck books.

    2) It’s COLD! I’m going to try a new recipe for cheesy tortilla soup for dinner tonight, along with sandwiches.

    3) Sadly, I have to get OUT in the cold to get the special cheese needed for said tortilla soup. Ah well.

    4) I’ve got to find some new audio books to download. I’m almost finished with my current reread, the new book in the series doesn’t drop for a couple of weeks, and my other library holds have many people in front of me.

    5) Speaking of reading, I’m behind schedule according to my Goodreads challenge tracker. Funny, considering I finished 40 books OVER my original challenge number for last year.

And that’s it for me. I’m off to Wallyworld, then back here to knuckle down and get a bunch of words written. The “meet cute” is on the agenda today–in the middle of a bar fight. Fun times! Have a great weekend, everyone!

    1. The mudslides are just heartbreaking. Those poor people have been through so much.
    2. Loving Maggie. She’s smart :).
    3. It’s wonderful that you’re able to write now. I hope that means the pain is less.
    4. Sure hope all gets fixed so you can get the epidural.
    5. Have a wonderful time at the shower tomorrow!

    1. Yesterday it was 62 F and cloudy. Today so far it’s down to 26 F with wintery mix (rain, sleet, freezing rain. and snow).
    2. Supposed to go out to celebrate eldest’s birthday tomorrow. They were actually letting Harrison out but not now :(. It’s going to be a high of 18 F tomorrow so all plans are changing. Harrison will not be going out. I think we’re all going to go to their house and John and I will bring food ;).
    3. While clipping Spunks nails this morning I hurt him. It didn’t look like I cut too deep but he got mad and even now, 7 hours later, he still won’t let me see his toe :(.
    4. Finally had coffee with my girlfriend this past Wednesday. She cancelled last Saturday because she didn’t feel well. It was SO nice to get out and see her.
    5. Didn’t make anything new for dinner this week. Had too many leftovers to take care of ;). Will do better next week.

    Have a really wonderful weekend!

B.E., I saw on FB you were doing a lot of wood-cleanup. That’s great exercise, but the snow will ruin your fun for a while. But hopefully it’s good editing weather :-)

Congrats to your kid on her chem-grade!

Today totally got away from me and now I’m trying to catch up. Have a great weekend!

Silver, sounds like you’re making progress 2018 writing!

Cheesy tortilla soup sounds good to me (although my stomach doesn’t handle it well) and perfect for the frigid weather.

Hope you find the perfect audio and print books to read, and have a great weekend!

Viki, that’s a dramatic swing in temps!

Harrison is a very well-protected baby :-) Celebrating Oldest’s birthday at Harrison’s house is probably the easiest solution.

Poor Spunks, and I’m so sorry for YOU. He’s fine though, you checked it and by tomorrow he’ll have forgotten. It was just an accident. I made Maggie yelp today when I was putting her leash on and felt so bad.

I hope your girlfriend and her husband are doing okay–they’ve had a rough time between his finger and her virus.

Happy birthday to eldest and hope you all have a great weekend!
