Weekend Roundup, by Maggie May Apodaca

Hi! It’s me, Maggie. My mom is a little busy doing…people stuffs. Plus, I have a story to tell you! FYI that’s an oldentimes picture of me, but mom uses an oldentimes picture of her on a lot of her Official Author Pages, so I did it too. Cool, huh?

**What? Mom, I’m bloggertalking here! Okay, fine.**

Mom says I have to tell you some other things before I launch into my story. First, a super important Writer Lady name Judith Krantz has passed over the rainbow bridge. Mom is sad for her family, but says she made a lot of readers happy in her lifetime, so yes, she was super important. Dogs get this stuff. Think about it, we makes people happy like as our full-time job. I hope when Ms. Krantz gets lots of big kisses and tail wags from all the dogs waiting for their humans to thank her for giving joy to so many people. That’ll make her feel special, yes? Mom says we should toast Ms. Krantz for a life well lived, and cherish the legacy of stories she left us.

And Mom said also to tell you she had a good weekend. Well duh, she has me!

Last thing, I also had to tell you that mom typed all lots and lots of words and made them into a whole chapter thingie that she’s been working on for-freaking-ever. Although I don’t think I spelled freakin’ right. Or mom says it wrong after a long day in her pretend world and a glass of wine. I’m not sure which.

Okay now for my story!

Mom was upstairs in her room. Did you know, she has a special room that inside her room? In there is all kinds of cool stuff. I’m not supposed to touch most of it, but I have my very own blanket and a basket full of toys. Anytime she opens that door, I can play with my toys or snuggle in my blanket. Well two nights ago, mom opened the door.

Yay! I darted in and…suddenly the room went dark. The door closed! Oh noes!!! I was alone in the dark.

Ha, I’m joshing you. Not about being alone in the dark, mom really did close the door with me on the inside. But I wasn’t scared at all. Nope. I have my very own blanket, so I go all comfy. Later times, I heard mom calling me. Then she whistled. Sometimes humans are weird. How can I run to her if I’m on this side of the door? I waited for mom to figure the out.

Then she did! The door opened and she and Wizard-dad were both soooo happy to see me. I just walked out totally casual, but Mom was like, “Oh Maggie I’m so sorry! You’ll forgive me tomorrow because I have something special coming for you. Seriously! Amazon is delivering you a treat!”

Guys! It turns out mom closed the door on me by mistake, and when moms make this kind of mistake, they buy you treats!! Did you know????

So here’s I am Sunday, waiting for the magic Amazon dude. Also this is my mat, mom brought it to the door for me so I didn’t have to sit on the hard tile.

And then…my surprise came! It’s a chew stick with cheese and stuff in it! Nom, nom!

I love my surprise!

Shhh…don’t tell mom but I was in that little room for like three minutes, and I didn’t think it was a big deal. But mom thinks it’s a new chew stick major deal and who am I to argue?

So that’s my story. Pretty exciting, right? Probably like an action-adventure about a super brave dog with a happy ending, right? Do you all have any stories about your weekend? I’d love to hear them while I’m chewing on my stick!

Yay, Maggie! You definitely deserve treats and prezzies! I did that once with Kira. She’d curled up in the closet when I was hanging clothes or something, and then I closed the door. We looked everywhere for her. And, of course, she’s a cat, so she doesn’t come when we call anyway. She was sleeping way back in the corner when we found her.

I heard about Judith. So sad. But she lived a long and productive life filled with many joys. May she rest in peace.

    Yay for new words!

Nothing much going on around here. Saw some twin fawns, which was cool. And then it was raining, so the fawns stayed home. Other than that, a pretty bland weekend.

Maggie, you are a brave, good girl! And you totally enjoy that chew stick. Tell your mom that new words and a whole chapter is totally awesome and that you’ll give her a treat (like an extra big glass of wine or a cookie!) when she writes another. ;)

I got some new words too, but not nearly enough. Loki, Kitten God of Mischief and Mayhem, is a morning kitten. He chases his toys on the bed and uses me to play King of the Mountain so he can jump off and pounce them. Gentleman Jake has two looks perfected, both dealing with guilt. He steals the cat food bowls, takes them off to lick all the food out and then hides them on his bed. When I put my hands on my hips and stare at him, he hangs his head but looks up at me with those big brown eyes. His other look is when I go off in the car and leave him behind. I get the the “How COULD you leave me behind” look coming and going. Thank goodness Boone and Adidas are so mellow.

Judith Krantz was an icon. I had no idea of her age but was saddened when I saw the news flash yesterday.

Much to do this week. Time to get off the internet and get it done. I hope you’ll come back to bloggertalk to us soon, Maggie. Who’s a goooood girl? You are!

B.E., it freaked me out when I couldn’t find Maggie and she didn’t come to my call or whistle. In our room, we have an extra closet we built from a crawl space, and it’s pretty big. I was getting a broom out of there to sweep up, and didn’t realize she’d gone in there. I felt awful, but it didn’t bother her at all, thankfully.

Glad you found Kira, LOL! Cats are great at finding little hidey spaces.

I hopped over to your FB page to check if there are any pics of the twin fawns. I didn’t see any, so I’m guessing you weren’t able to grab a pic. Sorry about the rain! Some areas are getting hit hard, again. It needs to stop.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Silver, Maggie’s telling me to get to work so she can have her bone, LOL!

She loves the Loki story! I told her she’d better not try to climb up me and jump off like Loki does with you :-)

Jake’s sad/guilty looks would melt me! It’s pretty funny that he hides the cat dish on his bed. It reminds me of Bailey who used to steal random stuff like chapstick or highlighters and put them in his kennel. Jakes sounds like such a sweetheart!

I believe Judith Krantz was 91, or that’s what I read yesterday.

Hope you and I both get a lot of words this week!

Maggie, you write an excellent blog post. You might be able to give your mom a break now and then and fill in for her :).

I bet Mom and dad (Wizard) were frightened when they couldn’t find you. You were such a brave girl too. Glad the Amazon guy brought you such a cool treat.

Nice that mom got so many words over the weekend. I bet that made her happy and a happy mom is a happy Maggie, right ;)?

I too was sorry to see the passing of Judith. She gave many tons of enjoyment.

PS I love all of your photos. You are a very pretty girl.

    Have a nice afternoon.

Viki, Maggie says Thank You!! She thinks she’s pretty too, even if Wizard does tease her about getting so gray. And she clearly loves writing blog posts, LOL!

I was sorry to see that Judith Krantz passed too, although she was 91, and it sounds like she lived a full life.

I hope the styes in your eye are getting better!
