Weekend Roundup

The weekend raced on by. The highlight was going to CPA Boy and Special K’s house for a small family BBQ. Middle Son and his wife came and they have big news–they have adopted a second dog! She’s a mixed breed sweetheart name Hazel, I can’t wait to get to know her. When I do, I’ll get a picture. I’m very happy for them!  They have two big, power breed dogs, but they are great dog-parents who make sure the dogs have exercise, structure and training, along with lots of love. I love power breeds, but ONLY with the right owners.

Youngest son was there for a while, and doing great! Wedding plans are moving along, and so is his news I can’t share yet. But soon. Let’s just say I’m so proud of him!

The peanut butter chocolate chip cookies I made went over well at the BBQ. First off, CPA Boy was happy his mom still loves him by fulfilling his special request, LOL! Then Turbo’s aunt and uncle fed him pieces of cookie in order to score best aunt and uncle points. I watched and laughed. Turbo was totally wired from what probably amounted to a quarter to a third of a cookie. His mom was distracted or she would have limited that sooner. Anyhow this little 16 month old boy ran circles around us after that!! He’s super fast for his age, so I’m not exaggerating. Then his dad got all stern about no more cookies.

Turbo’s dad is a meanie sometimes.

We had a great time, and so did Maggie. She loved being invited to the family BBQ, plus she and Turbo are buddies. Turbo is really good at petting dogs and giving them treats (always with supervision).

So this week will be a little crazy.

Today my brother is having surgery. I’d appreciate any thoughts and prayers that he comes out of surgery clean and healthy. We all know cancer sucks, but the doctors have predicted they will get it all with this surgery. He wouldn’t let me come to his state and “assist” the doctors since he swears I’m not as qualified as his surgeons. I know, I know, I’m as surprised as you :-) My brother has the same control freak tendencies as I do, so I think I’m amusing him. Or he’s tolerating me. Either way, he convinced me to stay home and let the medical staff do their thing. Okay, teasing aside, my brother has been on his A game here, catching a  problem, listening to advice and aggressively doing what needs to be done. I’m proud of him!

Not to be out done, my sister is having major back surgery tomorrow. She’s always been a bit dramatic. I’m kidding! She’s been having serious pain and other symptoms for a long time now, and done everything she could to alleviate them with non-surgical options. Now it needs to be addressed. However, Biker Witch is not a control freak like me, and this always leaves me mildly confused. While I research like a madwoman, she gets just enough information to make her feel comfortable and then makes a decision. That’s probably why she’ll live longer and healthier than me! While I wish she didn’t have to go this route, I admire her determination to get it done, and live her best life. Go Biker Witch! I appreciate any good thoughts and healing energy you can send her way, so she can get back to her main job of harassing me. Who else is going to tell me I worry too much?

There’s more going on, but that’s the highlights for now. Maggie is asking if she can post on Wednesday, but her stories are kind of one-sided. First she tells the world I locked her in the closet, then that I was digging through the trash…maybe I should banish her from the blog?

So how was your weekend?

I’m so glad you had a nice weekend and spent time with family. Many positive thoughts winging their ways to your brother and to Biker Witch. And plenty for you because you’ll be worrying. :hugs: Maggie blogging on Wednesday is fine by me.

The weekend was quiet as usual. Got in some walks and loads of reading. Then I gave myself a good talking to and got some work done. I made lemon coconut bread, which turned out awesome. Hubs had to exercise his willpower to not eat the whole loaf by himself. So that’s a new recipe win. Not sure what I’ll be up to today – more editing definitely.

Yay for BBQs, doggo adoptions (we’ve always found that dogs do better in at least pairs–pack animals and all that), Turbo Time™, and cookies! Can’t wait to hear the rest of the news from Youngest. Sending good thoughts to Bro and Biker Witch. And yes please, let Maggie post. ;)

I got words written this weekend. Loki is all better and has taken up his “crown” as Demon Kitten God of Mischief and Mayhem again. He goes back for a follow-up Wednesday afternoon. Boone and Jake almost got a pair of coons in the backyard. All survived the encounter. I leave for NYC in a week. I am sooooo not ready. Neither is the book that’s supposed to be turned in before I leave. 😟 At least I’m making progress on it. On that note, time to get off the net and on the writing!

    Have a great week.

I’ve been keeping your brother in my prayers. It is good of you to let the doctors be in control ;). Your brother must get a kick out of you.

I will be saying prayers for Biker Witch that all goes well tomorrow. Sounds like she ready and will follow doctors instructions.

Turbo must have loved his little taste of heaven. Parents today really limit the little ones treats. It’s easy to picture Turbo running around having a blast. It’s so nice that he and Maggie get along so well.

Very nice that Maggie was included in the BBQ. She is a social dog after all ;).

Can’t wait to hear about Middle son/wife’s new pup.

Maggie writes nice blogs. You should always encourage writers ;).

We had middle DIL’s birthday dinner Saturday night. It went well. Harrison was great for most of it and then got bored. A slight meltdown but nothing bad. He just drops his head and pouts. He really does well when we go out.

The heat and humidity are back – YUCK! It’s supposed to last for over a week. Maybe even longer. Does not make me happy.

Our TV in the workout area died :(. My electric toothbrush died. Bummer.

    Have a great evening.

B.E., thanks on all. Today went well for my brother, so that’s good news :-)

Your lemon coconut bread must have been a winner! I admire your hubs for his restraint. I love breads so I really understand that amount of will power it takes to limit ourselves.

Hope your editing is going well!

Silver, thanks, I’m excited for them to have two dogs, but I’ll stick with one. Although Maggie has tons of cousins she can play with so that’s a bonus. And thanks on everything else, my brother’s surgery went well, and they believe they got everything.

You have so much going on! Yay that Loki is better. RWA is always a lot to get ready for, and it always seems “bigger” in NY. But you’ll have a great time! You can do this. And Awesome News that you got words out! You’re amazing Silver!

Hope you got more work done today!

Viki, thank you for your prayers. It helped, they believe the surgery was a success this morning. I’m sure he’s in pain, but that will be managed and the future looks good.

Biker Witch is ready to get it over with!

Turbo was fun, and his parents are pretty reasonable on treats. Turbo really had had enough :-)

Maggie reclining on her chair, pondering up blog ideas. I’m a little worried.

So glad DIL birthday dinner went well! That meltdown sounds very minor. Harrison is a good little boy overall, and seems pretty adaptable. Many kids don’t do as well when they are in restaurants.

I don’t blame you for being unhappy about the heat and humidity :-(

A TV and electric toothbrush dying sounds like a conspiracy :-) I hate those life inconveniences, plus I hate spending money to replace items I think should work flawlessly forever.

Hope your week is off to a good start!
