What Happened to Monday?

If I didn’t post on Monday, did Mondy still happen? We had our grandson, Turbo, Sunday and Monday, and he sure lives up to his nickname, LOL! It honestly takes two of us, plus Maggie, to watch him. He’s smart, funny, energetic, and overall, really well-behaved for a 19 month old. He likes to repeat words he hears, and I’m happy to report, Wizard and I did not send him home with any inappropriate words added to his vocabulary :-) We really enjoyed him, but we were wiped out when he left, probably because he didn’t sleep well this, and was ready to play at 3:30 a.m. I woke up Wizard for that–after all I didn’t want him to miss out on the joys of babysitting. I’m super nice like that :-) And Wizard was a good sport, he just laughed and said, “You might as well start to the coffee.”

Turbo’s parents had a great time at the concert in Vegas.

It was also Youngest Son’s bachelor weekend in Vegas with both his brothers and a couple of friends. I’m assuming they had fun too, but over the years, I’ve learned not to ask too much because they actually tell me, and then I have Mom Vision, which means I can reenact the scene in my head with a dozen bad outcomes. It doesn’t matter that they are standing there in front of me, clearly fine. Mom Vision, it’s a real thing :-)

This book is getting to me. If I gather all my characters in one place, and blow them all up, is that considered murder? I mean it doesn’t count in fiction right? Even more frustrating is I keep losing time to work. I thought I’d be able to get back to the book yesterday, but Real Life had other ideas. Today will be better!

Heat and fires blew into Southern California. It’s going to be hot all week. But I just have to say this, while I complain about many things in California, our firefighters are amazing. They saved more homes when a huge fire broke out in Los Angeles, just like our homes were saved a little over a year ago. While humans cause a lot of the fires, it’s the heat and Santa Ana winds that make them so dangerous, and extremely hard to fight.

So that was some of my long weekend.  How was yours?

Sadly, yes. Monday still happens. Every frickin’ week. 😝

Stormy was here Saturday night. He woke up at 2:30, 3:30, 4:30, and at 7:30, he didn’t wake us up, he just got dressed and brushed his teeth. That’s what he wanted to do every time he woke up previously. Thing is, when he got up, the dogs got up. Hard to sleep with 3 sets of eyes staring at you. 🤣 Needless to say, we napped hard Sunday afternoon.

We watched LIVE RESCUE Monday night and watched the San Bernadino FD deal with a wildfire that cropped up on one of the hills above the city. It looked like 40 houses would go, not to mention the people who took too long to evacuate. People! When the cops and/or firefighters come to your door and say get out, get the hell out! California firefighters are some of the best, but given the conditions out there, they sadly get a lot of practice. 😢

Why does Wednesday feel so much like a Monday this week? I need more coffee! ☕ And then, maybe, with a lot of will power, I’ll get new words written.

I forgot to mention–all people and pets were saved and only 6 houses were impacted, with only one being what was probably a total loss. It could have been so much worse! Good work by SBFD!

I think it’s very nice of you to make sure that Wizard experiences grandpa-hood fully ;). I know you both got up and shared the early morning fun with Turbo. It’s great that he stayed in bed until 3:30.

Harrison is still in his parents bed EVERY night beginning around 12. He doesn’t wake up happy either. It’s a full on scream. It would drive me crazy. It’s their own fault for allowing it right from the start instead of having him sleep in his crib.

When I saw that the fires were in Southern California I worried about you and the family. Are you all clear of them right now?

Sorry it’s so hot too. It must make it very difficult to fight fires when it’s hot. Stay safe.

I made B.E.’s Romanian apple cake yesterday. I planned on making it over the weekend but I had a tummy ache so it had to wait. The cake is very good. Nice and moist and not too sweet. My guys really like it :).

When do the garage doors get installed? Sure hope it all turns out the way you want it.

    Have a great afternoon.

Silver, I think having our grandkids over is a stark reminder of how hard it is to be a parent. Stormy clearly wanted was excited about getting his day started!

I’m so glad no lives were lost in that San Bernardino fire. It doesn’t spring forth in my memory, which is sad since that’s like one county over from us, but there are too many, especially in the forest or hilly terrain like that.

So with you on evacuations. We evacuated before the sheriff came by. Wizard said if he was younger, he might have stayed longer, but I would have insisted he leave. I’d rather lose a house than the father of my boys. Additionally, civilians get in the way of professionals trying to save lives first, and structures second.

Hope your willpower shows up, mine is pushing me to get some pre-wedding (for my son) stuff done.

Viki, Turbo actually woke up much earlier, but I kept him in bed and tried to entice him back to sleep with videos. But the good news is he slept great the next night for his parents who were exhausted from their jam packed weekend and long drives.

Some kids just don’t sleep well, and maybe that’s Harrison? I have a niece who, as a baby, wouldn’t ever sleep more than 2 or 3 hours at a time until she was around 2 or 3, I can’t remember exactly. I don’t know how her parents survived it. She grew up to be a wonderful young woman, even if she did age her parents through sleep deprivation. I put my kids in cribs too, but maybe we were lucky?

The fires are not near us, thanks!

We had the garage doors installed yesterday and are very happy.

I’m sorry you were sick! It really sucks.

Yay for the Romanian Apple Cake! I bet it make the house smell good too.
