Friday Five
TGIF! I can’t believe it’s Friday again. This has been a nonstop week. Okay, lets jump right into sharing five random things about our week.
- I cleaned my oven. The oven is self-cleaning so that’s fairly easy. Sadly, the inside racks are not, and they were pretty dirty.
- I spent a couple of days this week Christmas shopping. I’m pretty closing in on the finish line, I think. I’m also waiting on a few deliveries and hope those show up as promised.
- Yesterday, I made double batches of 3 different kinds of bread: Zucchini, Pumpkin and B.E.’s Apple Cranberry. That came out to 36 mini-loaves of bread! My biggest surprise is that Wizard really liked the Apple-Cranberry bread! I’ve never seen him eat cranberry anything, so I was thrilled he tried it and even happier that he liked it enough to eat several slices. I knew I’d like it
- Today, I’m getting my hair cut then home to make cookies. I have double batches of three different cookies planned, but I may have to cut down to just BLB’s special chocolate chip cookies and lemon cookies. If I run out of time, I won’t make the sugar cookie shaped like bears I was planning.
- Tomorrow, we’re going to Wizard’s sister to celebrate Christmas with his side of the family. I’m not sure of Turbo will be there as it looks like he might be coming down with something But we’re looking forward to seeing everyone else!
That’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours! I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend!

Yay for a clean oven and for near-done shopping! Super Yay for Wizard liking my apple-cranberry bread recipe! :happy dance: Also yays for haircuts and cookies and family gatherings! Boo for Turbo being under the weather. Nothing’s worse than feeling crappy around the holidays. :hugs:
1) The Kid got her Christmas box and is already enjoying it. She loved the pajamas I sent her. They’re super fluffy and say ‘Let Me Sleep’ on the front with some kind of critter face. (Panda, I think, but I don’t remember for certain.) She also got a loaf of apple cranberry bread and some homemade granola bars. I haz a happy.
2) The piles of leaves are all out of the yard and into the woods now. It’s a lot of work, but it always looks so nice when we’re done.
3) Between the bank, the post office, and groceries, I’ve been to town every day this week. Today I ain’t goin’ nowhere. That was more than enough face-to-face interaction for me for one week.
4) I had Hubs take some slices of pumpkin pie bread over to the boys working on the house next door. (I shouldn’t call them boys… they’re in their thirties for petesakes.) And they liked it. That’s all I really ask.
5) I read a super-cute romance the other day – Bad Boy by Janet Elizabeth Henderson. It’s about a bad boy former soccer star who cleans up his act to help the widow next door keep her precocious five year old when the evil mother in law wants to take the kid away. I laughed, I sniffled, I smiled, I gnashed my teeth. The kid stole the show, but it was all around a happy-making book. =oD

Busy week for everyone! Yay for bread and cookies!!!! Poor Turbo. Hope he’s feeling better. Here’s my five:
1. Only is in the midst of moving her office. The company built their own building and their entire operation has to be out of the leased space by the 31st. She’s super busy and at the point of late nights. I’ve grabbed Stormy from school 3 times this week because Baseball Boy has practice after school.
2. Jake is getting really good at directions when he’s attached to the shopping cart. I can say “left” and he automatically shifts and turns before I turn the cart. I worry about bumping him with it. He still gets lots of attention and eats up the pets when I take him “off duty.”
3. Stormy’s Christmas program at school was cute! Except the teacher took away their shepherd’s crooks because…well, you can imagine.
4. I’ve been writing! Not as much as I’d like but I’m almost finished with the February book and I’m getting ideas for the next book in this particular series which will be in 2021. Lots of time to get other books out and that’s my goal for the year. But no pressure on myself.
5. My new obsession is Texas toast, grilled in butter. We have it with dinner. Or as part of a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich, or pattymelt. Yum! If I’m not careful, I’ll put those 20 pounds I lost this year back on. But…YUM!!!!
Have a great weekend, everyone!

1. You’re my hero cleaning the racks in the oven. I’ll never forget my grandma soaking them in the bathtub. There’s this blue spray bottle oven stove cleaner that works great. I’m out right now but I will let you know the name when I buy more. If you can get it in CA it will makes things much easier.
2. Good job on the shopping. Hope you get it all done and can relax a little bit.
3. You’re baking up a storm. Nice that Wizard likes the apple cranberry bread. Yum :).
4. Love the getting the hair done. We always feel good afterward. Again, you are baking up a storm. Want to do mine ;)?
5. Have a great time celebrating Christmas at Wizard’s sisters. Sorry Turbo is not feeling well. Hope he kicks it quick.
1a. Got a video from Cassie yesterday of Harrison just yelling pee pee poo poo over and over. Can we tell she’s trying to train him .
2a. My ellipse started clunking. I called to get service and they came out the next day. So happy :).
3a. Tomorrow middle son is taking me to NY to see my mom for her 80th birthday (really on the 18th). Most of the family will be there so it will be really nice to see them. Also, middle’s wife has never met many of them. I better warn her ;).
4a. Some creep got my credit card number. DISCOVER altered me right away. They noticed I had never used LYFT before and it was in AZ. I hate crooks!
5a. I have to wrap presents. I’m going to plan on that for Sunday.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Silver – I’m dying about the shepherd hooks :). Reminds me of when my youngest were in the church play on Christmas Eve one year and they fought the entire way done the church aisle. We called them the battling shepherds.

B.E, Turbo seems better today, but thank you!
1) There’s nothing better than making your kid happy, and knowing she appreciates all your efforts in baking and selecting gifts for her.
2) Glad you have such a great payoff for all your hard work raking!
3) Hope you got to stay home and indulge your inner hermit.
4) Yay for the 30 something guys liking your pumpkin bread! (I call them boys too, but then, I have sons that age, LOL)
5) I grabbed that romance since you loved it! I want to be book-happy too. Although I’m slowly reading a cool dragon rider book right now.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Silver, very true on everyone being busy. I wonder how people who work outside the home get anything done.
1) Yay for Grandma’s recusing super busy/stressed kids. Stormy probably loves having you pick him up from school. Hope the move gets done and life goes back to normal for Only soon. That’s a lot of stress.
2) Jake’s a good, smart boy!
3) The teacher taking away the shepherds crooks made me laugh. Raising three boys gives me a pretty good idea of the temptation the boys faced
4) That’s awesome that your writing and having lots of ideas. You sound motivated!!!!
5) Losing 20 pounds is great if you great! (As long as you wanted to lose it, and it’s not from stress or illness.) And yeah, grilled Texas toast is a threat. But it’s pretty danged hard to resist!
Enjoy your weekend!

Viki, I put my racks in the bathtub, but I didn’t soak them long enough because I’m too impatient. I’d love to know what the blue spray bottle cleaner is when you buy it again. Right now, I’m over cleaning from all the baking, LOL.
1) Snort!! Yep, I can tell it’s potty training time. Hope it’s an easy process for Harrison.
2) A clunking ellipses isn’t good. That’s great that they got right out and fixed it! I’m always annoyed if they making any clunking noise when I work out at the gym.
3) Happy Milestone Birthday to your mom!!! LOL on warning Middle Son’s wife. I’m sure she’ll enjoy meeting her husband’s grandmother and have a great time. I hope it’s a wonderful day for your mom and you!
4) Man credit card hacking and theft suck. Good for DISCOVER though! But still a major hassle for you, and now you need to be extra alert for awhile. I’m sorry it happened.
5) Wrapping presents is a chore, but it’ll be nice when you’re done. i have to do mine, but I have fewer to wrap this year which helps.
LOL on the battling shepherds! That’s what I was picturing!
Hope you have a wonderful time at your mom’s birthday celebration and a great weekend!
