Weekend Roundup

Two highlights of my weekend:

  1. First, of course, is playing with Turbo. He’s such a smart boy! At almost 22 months, he can repeat the entire alphabet after his mom or dad. He knows all his colors and a lot of shapes. But he’s alllll boy. That kid loves trucks, and plays with them over every surface he can find. Or he bends over, puts them on the floor and runs, pushing them across the room. So cute! Oh! And I bought a Cookie Monster cookie (from Starbucks) and Turbo loved it. Not really surprising but a super satisfying Grandma moment. Especially since his parents are very reasonable about sweets as long as he’s eating meals.
  2. Second, my daughter-in-law gave me some storage containers she’s not using. Well actually, my son gave them to me when I was describing the containers I wanted and he realized they had some. My son is like that, he’ll give me anything I want, so I double-checked with my daughter-in-law because men can sometimes be oblivious, LOL! But she told me to take them with her blessing. Anyhow, they are the pop-lock ones that I’ve been coveting but I was too cheap to shell out the money for the big set I saw at Costco. So getting these few pieces totally jazzed me. And yeah, I’m easily amused. But one of my goals this year is to slowly redo some things in my kitchen to create a more organized, efficient updated workflow. This is a start–however the funny part is I’ll end up spending just as much money buying the pieces I’ll need to fill in as if I’d originally bought the big set at Costco :-)

Otherwise, I did some running around stuff, some cleaning out stuff and even some writing stuff. The writing stuff is less than I wanted to do, but it’s writing and I refuse to be negative. Moving forward is success! I love Justice and Liza and want to give them the happily ever after they deserve.

Today, I hope to go to the gym and then write. Also, Maggie says “Hi” to you all.

So that’s my weekend, now I’d really love to hear about yours!

Yay for Turbo Time! He sounds like one smart little whippersnapper. And a good boy, too. I’m so happy for all of you. Yay for storage containers! The snap-tight ones are the best, especially for keeping out bugs. Super yay for writing stuff! And staying positive! Moving forward is success. Hi Maggie!

Well, we got drenched by 3 inches of rain on Friday and then about a half inch of little ice balls on Saturday. I stayed inside and got some more honey-dos done, read a bunch, and wrote some. Like you, not nearly as much as I would’ve liked, but it’s forward progress. Since working outside was a bust and I’ve already cleaned just about everything, I actually used our exercise bike yesterday. I need to start using it more often. And I made a vat of chili. Oh yum. Today, I’m thinking beef stew or pot roast. Warm foods for a cold day.

Yay for trucks and Turbo and storage containers and stuffs. :)

We had four seasons in 48 hours. Fun times. Not! Stormy came Saturday afternoon to spend the night so “Mom and Dad could have alone time. What’s that mean, Jammie?” Yeah…not having that conversation, kiddo. They went to a wonderful, historic B&B compound that used to be a hunting lodge, then became a monastery for their anniversary. Stormy’s in this “I want to do chores” mode so he “mopped” the floors in two of our bathrooms and swept the leaves of the patio. That worked because he could then “drive” his RC police truck out there. He and Big Daddy had boy movie time, “forensic science time, and science geode time.” We had reading time.

And that was pretty much my weekend. 🤣 Weather and Stormy! I did finalize the MS for FIGHTING FOR ELENA and hit send on it this morning. Time to move on.

    Have a great week, everyone!

Oh you are a good Grandma :). A Cookie Monster cookie is a big hit! We’re not allowed to give Harrison any sweets :(. Turbo is one smart little guy. I’m guessing mom and dad are very interactive with him.

What a windfall with the containers. That will get you started on your project.

I keep forgetting to ask if you bought your pots and pans? What brand did you buy? I have my old Revere set from 40 years ago as well as a Circulon set. Love them both.

Harrison was sick for his dad’s birthday dinner but was a trooper and didn’t complain. He still liked the Hibachi ;).

    Have a great afternoon!

B.E., yay for all forward progress we manage to eek out.

Wow you got hammered with weather this weekend. Being trapped inside gets old pretty fast. I admire your drive to ride and exercise bike!

Chili sounds good :-) I made stew last night, but I make a very easy stew that’s decent but nothing to brag about.

Hope your week is off to a good start.

Silver, I’m with you and plan to never have “that” conversation with Turbo. I did my time with my own boys :-) But yay for the kids getting some time alone. Parents really need that, and you and LG are awesome to help them get it.

Weather seems to be determined to NOT be ignored in your area.

Stormy wanting to do chores is so cute! I love that age, even if it’s twice the work in some ways. And we all know how important reading time is. We all read to Turbo and he loves books already.

Congrats on hitting send for ELENA! That’s a huge accomplishment! I know the book had a couple snags, one that required some creative re-plotting & re-writing but you did it!

I know you have a ton to do workwise, but I hope you took a little time for yourself today before diving into a new project.

Viki, you’re absolutely right. Turbo’s parents spend a lot of time with him, plus his grandparents (other side) and older cousins. I think the older cousins have a lot of great influence on him. He adores them!

Hopefully Harrison will be able to have some special sweets soon. But it’s his parent’s call. I try hard to always be respectful of Turbo’s parents rules.

No, I realized the set of pans I was looking at Amazon had the wrong kind of handles, and the better deal is at Kohls with the 30%. I got the coupon and am waiting to see if it works later this week when I try to order them (some brands are excluded). These pans are a bit of a luxury, but I have an emotional attachment because the kids surprised me on one of my birthdays with my first set. I’ve used a few pans so much I’ve worn the finishes off. Anyway, hopefully I’ll get them ordered soon!

I’m so sorry Harrison is sick :-( But what a trooper that he didn’t complain and enjoyed the restaurant. I hope your son’s birthday was awesome!

I hope you’re having an amazing week!
