Friday Five

TGIF! Jumping right into Friday Five:

  1. I’m trying to write the black moment and climax of the book, but flailing around. Plus it’s been a busy week, limiting my writing time. But I’m happy just to feel the drive to tell the story, and to be able to plant my butt in the chair and concentrate enough to write.  Writing feels like a gift I truly cherish.
  2. I saw Biker Witch yesterday, which was great. We got a coffee and walked around Target. Of course, it’s a little awkward with masks to both drink coffee and talk. But it was great to see her.
  3. I bought a little set of herbs to try and grow. Pity the Basil, Oregano and Rosemary that ended up with me as their adopted mom, LOL!
  4. Today is Middle Son’s birthday. We’re going to see him tonight, and I’m making him his favorite lemon pound cake. I can’t wait to see him, his wife and two dogs!
  5. Tomorrow, Wizard is going to help Oldest paint a patio cover. I brilliantly volunteered to watch Turbo so I could have him all to myself. However, I suspect Turbo is going to insist on seeing what dad and grandpa are doing. I’ll have fun, even if I share my grandson :-)

That’s five random things about my week, now I’d love to hear yours. I hope everyone has a happy and healthy weekend!

Yay for writing! You’ve got this. Yay for time with Biker Witch. Have fun growing your herbs. Happy Birthday Middle Son! I hope you have fun tonight. Heh, volunteered. You sly boots. Enjoy your Turbo time!

    1) I got a form to fill out for Federal jury service this week. If I get picked, it should be interesting. Other than the 90 minute drive up and then back every day.
    2) It’s pretty floody here. Nothing that really effects me, other than harshing all my fishing spots. I walked the neighborhood yesterday and noted that so far none of the lakefront houses are flooded, but it’s pretty close on a couple.
    3) The lady deers are all fat pregnant. Soon, we’ll have fawns!
    4) We have a red-bellied woodpecker who has decided that the end of one gutter is the perfect place to drum every morning. Unfortunately, the gutter is at the corner of Owl’s bedroom. We keep chasing him off but he’s never gone for long. Owl’s dealing with it as best she can.
    5) Today might be a good day to do yard work. I’ve been slacking on the weed pulling. And I never did start that block project under the deck. We’ll see if I can muster the gumption.

Writing the black moment is ALWAYS hard. You’ll get it! And yes, the words are a gift. 💖 Yay for Biker Witch and coffee. I have a black thumb so I feel your herbal pain. Happy–and yummy–Birthday MS! Volunteered? Yeah. Right. 🤣 Okay, my five:

    1. We had rain. Sun. Rain. Chilly temps. Heat. Mother Nature can’t make up her mind.

    2. Edits almost done. Still waiting on book cover. Time to nudge.

    3. Got inspired by a music video on a character. Her story is really coming together and I’m looking forward to writing her book. Big Yay!

    4. I finally broke down and bought clip on “shades” for my glasses. The old set didn’t fit the glasses I’m currently wearing. (My vision is so messed up right now!). Anyway, the one set that fit has little “diamonte” crystals down the outside of each lense. Soooo not me, but whatever. With kid soccer back in play, I need the shades! 😎

    5. I’m thinking of building a “blanket fort” for Boone. If it would keep him out from under my desk, it would be worth it. Maybe I should just break down, get all of Only’s stuff out of my office, get it rearranged like I’d originally planned but got distracted (like…YEARS ago!) and then he’d have his own “desk” to hide under–a drafting table that is stacked over and under with stuff. I’m thinking she might not even remember this crap is here. 🤔

Have a great weekend! We have TWO soccer games tomorrow. Yayayayay!

    1. I hope the dark moment in the book works this weekend.
    2. Drinking coffee with a mask, can’t even imagine. Glad you and Biker Witch got to get together.
    3. I hope you have good luck with the herbs. I don’t have any sunshine in the house so they don’t grow.
    4. Have an excellent time tonight celebrating middle son’s birthday.
    5. Ha Ha on getting to be with Turbo while Wizard is painting.

1a. I bought a new vacuum. It’s about 10 pounds so not too heavy but still hurts my arm. Man is it powerful though. The carpet looks like the steam cleaner has been over it instead of a vacuum.
2a. Harrison sent us a video last night where he had I white latex glove and pretended he was milking a cow. It was SO funny.
3a. Middle son bought a cart to attach to his bike so he could take Queso (the puppy) riding. It was NOT good. Poor little guy got sick all over the place.
4a. Trying to figure out what to get hubs for Father’s Day. Any ideas?
5a. I’m craving a chocolate malt. I think I will go to the store tomorrow for malt and chocolate ice cream. Yes, they are essential items :-P .

I hope you have a really great weekend and enjoy Turbo!

B.E. Sorry for the late answer, life happened :-) And yep, I volunteered because I’m so very generous that way, LOL.

    1) That’s a long drive to do your civic duty, but I agree, it might be really interesting. I think you’ve served on a jury before if I remember right.
    2) Hope you don’t get any more flooding, and can reclaim your fishing spots.
    3) Fawns!
    4) Woodpeckers are stubborn!! At least that’s been my limited experience. That said, I loved Woody Woodpecker growing up :-)
    5) Did your gumption get mustered?

    Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!

Silver, I’ll be amazed if my herbs grow, but I’m trying!

    1) Mother Nature needs to check her calendar.
    2) Yay for edtis, hope Only has time to work on cover!
    3) That kind of inspiration is priceless.
    4) You definitely need the shades on the soccer field! I have to wear sunglasses just to walk to the mailbox these days, so I get it. Glad you found some that work.
    5) Do it! We cleaned out our kids stuff, boxed it up for them and dropped it off as each of them bought a house. They can decide what to keep or toss. They seemed okay with it. And, obviously, Boone needs his one desk to hide under :-)

Hope you’re having a good weekend!

Viki, I use a straw when I get a latte, mostly because if I tried to drink from those sippy-type cups, I’d end up spilling it down my front. I’m worses than a kid. Anyhow, I could slip the straw under the mask and made it work. But the thing it not idea, and we really shouldn’t be out just milling around even though we observed all precautions. It’s just too hot to sit outside. But things will improve.

    1) Lightweight is good in a vacuum, but year, I imagine any vacuuming hurts your arm.
    2) Oh The Cute with Harrisons video!!! That sounds like it’d go viral online (not that you want your grandson to go viral online).
    3) Poor Queso :-( Probably wasn’t much fun for your son either. And it was such a fun idea. I’ve seen people riding with their dogs in baskets, one older man even had sunglass on his chihuahua. That dog was so cute and totally chilling in his basket.
    4) I’m not much help for Father’s Day, Wizard and I agreed not to do gifts for those days, especially this year. I’ll probably just make Wizard his favorite dinner (usually ribs) and whatever dessert he choses. If I’m really nice, I’ll even get him donuts. If I think of an idea, I’ll let you know.
    5) YUM! I haven’t had chocolate ice cream probably since my surgery when I think Wizard bought if for me. Hope you got the essentials and enjoy your chocolate malt!

Hope your weekend is going well!
