Weekend Roundup

I just plain petered out this weekend. The high lights are:

I bought Maggie a new bed last week. She likes it! Wizard and I both tried to sneak a picture if her, but she caught us every danged time. We’re pretty sure Maggie’s in the Canine Witness Protection Program with the way she avoids pictures.

Wizard has a sinus infection. It’s been going on for a while, his symptoms have been similar to regular allergies, but his ears wouldn’t clear up. He saw his doctor on Friday and is on antibiotics. We stayed home this weekend and it was quiet and boring. We are cautious even though he’s had this exact same sinus infection before.

Another friend (really a friend of Biker Witch’s) went in the hospital with Covid. Please take care of yourselves.

I’m loving the second book in Ilona Andrews WHITE HOT, the second book in her Hidden Legacy series. I’m reading it on my Kindle, and while I’m generally fast reader, my eyes are bothering me due to allergies and I need new contacts or glasses soon. Also, I find myself going back to reread parts of scenes to make sure I understand the worldbuilding. That’s NOT due to her writing, it’s just me reading too fast because I’m impatient and try to jump ahead to find out what happens next.

Primal Magic will get written. It WILL. One way or another. I’ve spent soooo much time and work plotting, but getting this book off to the races is a real battle. Even Eli and Savi know the problem, HEY IDIOT, IT’S A ROMANCE, HOW ABOUT YOU GET US TOGETHER???? Then maybe you’d have a story? Just a thought. Sigh. Of course then I start thinking, Oh? You two want to be together? How about I put you together in this pit of demonic vipers? How’s that? Keep complaining, and I’ll put a sex scene right there in that pit of demonic vipers too! How’s that for romantic?

I need more coffee. Or wine. Or words. Or maybe I need fewer words? LOLOL! Possibly, the stress of 2020 is getting to me :-)

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

The stress of 2020 is getting to us all, hon. :hugs: Now, I’ll tell you what Silver told me… and I quote: “STOP THINKING AND JUST WRITE THE G@{%D@#} book!” Which worked for me last night because I did manage to get 1600 words out when I hadn’t written anything for a couple days.

Now… Yay for Maggie’s new bed! Boo for Wizard’s sinus infection. Yay for reading a good book! =o)

Over here, it’s been pretty much same ol’ same ol’. Other than Silver kicking my ass and goading me to write again. I keep getting butter out of the fridge to soften and by the time it’s softened, I’ve lost the gumption to bake, so back into the fridge the butter goes. We did get out into the woods and do some log-throwing and clean-up work. Yay. That stuff’s great for relieving stress. I wish you had woods you could use.

Yay for the good stuff, boo on the bad stuff and yes, I am the kicker of @$$es when needed. I’ve been know to stand in a mirror so I can aim at my own. ;) I’m sorry about BW’s friend. Hoping for a fast recovery!

There was a weekend, right? Of course there was. I got a little work done Saturday. Most of it had to do with looking at photos and figuring out lines for graphics for the cover designer on the TVFD series.

Stormy arrived Saturday before dinner to spend the night and Sunday. Only has a friend currently living in Scotland and there’s a big long story about the stuff in a storage unit and needed to get the last bit out by the end of the year and transferred to friend’s parents house about two hours away. Their Jeep doesn’t have enough cargo space so they took my Highlander. Stormy stayed the night and then all day Sunday until they got home about 4. LG left for the Legion Post about 8 because he was working the kitchen for a corn hole tournament and didn’t get home until after the kids got here and left. Fun times.

All that said, Stormy was very good, though very active. I did manage to finish the Christmas story so that’s a yay! He was so cute when he’d run into my office and yell, “Jammie!” I’d look up and ask, “What?” Then he’d say, “I love you!” and run off.

All in all, a good weekend! And a slow roll until Christmas. A few last minute items, most of which I’ll do on-line. I’ll write if inspiration hits but mostly on hold until after Christmas and then I’m back in the saddle and hitting the words hard. I have a whole lot of books that have been on the back burner that need to finish “cooking.” ;)

Have a great week, all! 🥰

It is so funny how Maggie hates the camera. We can all take your word that she loves her new bed :).

Poor Wizard! I hate getting sinus infections. They can linger and turn into something worse. I’m so glad he saw the doc and is being cared for.

Covid stinks. I sure hope your friend recovers swiftly.

Very happy you like the book you are reading. I hear you on jumping ahead and then having to go back and really read the section. We’re crazy!

I got all the wrapping done and we dropped off gifts at Middle and DIL’s on Saturday. Other than that it was a standard weekend.

Tomorrow Harrison and his family will stop by and pick up gifts. Thursday hubs will portray Santa for the neighbors’ 7 grandkids. Then we will have open gifts via Facetime with Harrison and later in the evening open gifts via Facetime with Middle.
Christmas Day I plan on making lasagna. It will be my HUGE pan. SO we will have plenty of dinners frozen for later since none of the kids will be here. I’m also going to make a peppermint patty cream pie with Oreo crust. It’s just pudding mixes, whipped topping and crushed candy cane. Super easy.

    Have a wonderful afternoon!

B.E., hugs back. Yeah, 2020 is bringing us all down. THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT ADVICE. I know it originated from Silver, but your comment was the first I read when I got up this morning. It hit home. I wrote some pages that are far from perfect but feel good, so that’s a win.

I’m glad the advice worked for you too! I’m sure your hubby is sad not getting fresh baked goods, but writing is getting down!

I’d like to throw a few logs, LOL! But we all know I’d hurt myself :-) I’m glad you’re working off some stress too, but don’t overdo it.

Hope the week is off to a great start as we head into Christmas.

Silver THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT ADVICE. As I told B.E., it’s what I needed this morning. I fixed one scene then wrote five or six very rough pages that feel like…Yep, that’s the right track. SO THANK YOU!

It sounds like you did more than a “little” writing since you finished your Christmas Story! Congrats!

Yay for Stormy time, but much as we love it, I know it requires a lot of energy. It’s very cool that you don’t have to keep a constant eye on him. Turbo requires a little more still, but will sit and play so I only need one eye on him now :-) And of course Stormy was good for you. They mostly just torture their parents, especially their moms.

The hit and run “I love you” is priceless. How can you not smile and know you have the best grandkid in the world?

You’ll get it all done by Christmas, or it wasn’t important. We willfully released ourselves from doing a lot of things we just aren’t up for. And enjoy taking a break too. That downtime often helps to finish off the “cooking” process (just down overcook like I do, LOL).

    Happy Monday!

Viki, Maggie is just Maggie, LOL.

Thanks, this sinus infection needs to leave Wizard. He’s got enough to deal with right now.

You had a productive weekend getting all the gifts wrapped and one set delivered. Hope you were able to chat outside for a bit.

A busy week ahead too. Your hubs playing Santa is awesome!

Opening gifts with Harrison over facetime will be fun. It’s amazing how normal this is to the little kids. Turbo talks away on our videochats. It’s as close to being there as possible. I’m so thankful that we have the technology.

The lasagna will pay off over and over with the leftovers. That pie sounds delicious, I’m going to look it up. I bet it’s good in the summer too.

I hope you have a great week!

Awesome news on the writing, Jen! And you’re welcome. ;) Christmas is done but for the bagging. Gift bags–Greatest. Invention. Ever! I do have to make a grocery run. I need yeast for the rolls. The yeast in the cabinet was so old it had expired. Yikes! I really should bake more. 🤣🤣🤣

    🎄💖MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!💖🎄
