Friday Five

TGIF. I can’t keep up with the weeks anymore. Hopefully I’m posing this on Friday, but between my confusion and my blog-scheduler problems, who knows :-) Anyway, here are 5 random things about my week:

  1. Maggie’s doing pretty well after her dental cleaning. No extractions, etc. But I really don’t want to put her through any more procedures for a while. Oh an awesome bonus, they cut her nails while she was under anesthesia. I really appreciate that.
  2. Not talking about writing. I just need to get out of my own way.
  3. I’m still doing exercise bands and beginning yoga three times a week. I enjoy it for the most part. Now that I’ve been doing it for a while, I’m pushing a bit more while really trying NOT to hurt myself. I’m pretty sure if I do get hurt, it will be from something stupid like falling out of a simple yoga pose, tripping over the mat or any number of equally embarrassing things.
  4. I bought a second swimsuit. This one is a tankini type (two piece but long top). I still look…um…middle aged (I’m so proud that I didn’t say fat, LOL), but I like it. I’m crossing my fingers that it won’t ride up in the water. We’ll see. I don’t know how long we’ll have the pool, and I want to enjoy it without a lot of mental pain over how I look. That’s such a waste of emotional energy in my opinion.
  5. I broke down and made cookies yesterday. They are a healthier than typical version of Pumpkin Spiced Oatmeal Pecan Cookies. Only I substituted dark chocolate chips for the pecans because I craved chocolate. They are pretty good, a cross between oatmeal cookies and pumpkin pie with a chocolate kick.

That’s my five random things, now I’d love to hear yours! Have a great weekend!

And Again the Blog Didn’t Post As Scheduled

Hi there everyone! Sorry for the late post. I can’t figure out why the blog scheduler is occassionally glitching or if I’m doing something wrong without realizing it. This morning I took a screenshot of my dashboard and sent it off to my website designer to see if she can figure it out. It’s pretty frustrating to see the blog sitting on my dash board under “Publishing soon” when it’s past the time I set to publish it. I double check the whole am/pm but that’s all correct.

It’s a mystery to me :-) It will be hilarious if it’s “User Error” and I was too–let’s say distracted–to figure out what I’m doing wrong on the blog I’ve been using for over a decade now.

And since we’re just chatting–this morning I dropped Maggie off at the vet’s for her teeth cleaning. It’s hilarious how bad Wizard and I felt about not giving her breakfast and her normal walk. I don’t think we ever felt that bad for the kids, LOL. When did we get so weak??? Then I had to sit for 25 minutes with her in the car, and she’s anxious. It took me about 10 minutes to realized I was doing her no favors by letting her fret and finally put her in a firm down with a “you wait” command. That helped her settle. (FYI–Maggie isn’t super well-trained like some dogs, so “command” is more of “firm suggestion” that she usually follows :-) )

Anyway, it occurred to me that pet parents might be even weirder the human parents!

Weekend Roundup

Happy Monday, Witches!

My weekend was calmer than my week, which is awesome. I needed a break to get on top of things. Most of you probably saw the Savaged Illusions Giveaway we posted on the blog over the weekend. If you haven’t entered yet, go here and do it! A big thank you to Carla for all her hard work on that!

Otherwise, I did some errands. I wasted a few hours doing physical and online shopping for some pictures to go on the walls in my bedroom. Then I declared that an Official Rabbit Hole and gave up for a while. Maggie and I took walks, I cleaned a bit and I’m working on Primal Magic.

I’ve also been trying to mentally will chocolate chip cookies or chocolate chunk brownies to appear in my kitchen, but so far, I’ve failed. I’m soooo tempted to bake, but I have this big complicated mess of a story (two stories really since Ram and Ginny are trying to shove into this book too…don’t ask!) that needs me to keep my butt in my chair as much as possible.

That was my weekend, how was yours?

Friday Five

TGIF! Let’s jump into sharing 5 random things about our week:

  1. Our week was compressed since Turbo was here Sunday and Monday. Tuesday ended up being Monday and Tuesday compressed into one marathon day. In fact the whole week feels like a marathon.
  2. Wizard and I have real bedroom furniture! Guys, I’m not even kidding when I say we had…well…old crap. The dresser had to be well over 60 years old, and not in the cool antique that should be refinished way. More like, the old, tired and eyesore way. For nightstands, we had two particle board round tables I bought for $10.00 each back in the day when we couldn’t afford pizza, and covered them with bargain table clothes. But after nearly four decades, we have a new dresser and nightstands we love! They even match!
  3. I went to the dentist. Not exciting at all, but glad to have it done since it’s been over a year. All good. Although the hygienist nearly panicked at my gag reflex when she was taking x-rays. I’ve stopped warning people because they NEVER believe me. I always get the same response, “Just breathe through your nose, you’ll be fine.” And I’m like, what you think I can’t breath and throw up at the same time? Trust me, I can. But after the first x-ray, the poor woman said, “I’ll run fast!” So we got it done, and she got her cardo workout at the same time.
  4. I also did my eye exam. I ordered new glasses that are transparent pink, and I think, cool. They are also Versace. I hesitated for about a minute, then could hear Wizard’s voice in my head, “If you like them and they’re comfortable, order them, you cheap witch.” I handed over my dusty, shocked credit card. I’m also trying out a trial pair of stronger prescription contracts too, but there’s nothing dramatic about that. If they don’t work, my old prescription will work fine.
  5. Carla and I have plans for next week, but to do all that I needed to set Savaged Dreams free. Amazon then surprised me by doing it faster and easier than I expected. Adding to my shock, the free book spontaneously took off on Amazon, even hitting their new adult and contemporary romance free top 100 lists yesterday. I’m not sure how or why since we hadn’t done any promo yet, but yay! And a huge shout out to my assistant, Carla, she’s been working so hard behind the scenes. It’s been a LOT of work, but we’re excited to have some Swag and fun things for readers.

That’s my five random things, now I’d love to hear yours! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Wednesday Reading Check In

Happy Wednesday! All is well here, but whew, I can’t keep up :-) Because Sunday and Monday were all about Turbo, Tuesday hit like a train! There just wasn’t enough hours to get everything done.

I also need to do pesky things like write a book, LOL.

So instead of writing a deep and compelling blog (are you laughing at me thinking I ever write that????), let’s just talk about reading :-)

I’m reading A COURT OF MIST AND FURY by Sarah J Maas and loving it so far! I read the first book, A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES and liked it, but this one is really singing to me. I don’t dare pick it up in the day when I should be working, of I’d never stop reading.

Your turn, what are you reading? Do you love it? Hate it? Feel so, so?

Weekend Roundup Lite

Turbo is here! Our grandson  is spending Sunday night, then we’ll take him home Monday. He’s fine being here with us, but not happy about sleeping here, so wish us luck! Anyhow, this is a quick check in. Our weekend is/was a little wild but good, how’s yours?
