Free Time Obsessions

So I’m not much for TV anymore. I mean I watch stuff like vet shows, baking or cooking, House Hunter or flip shows, or some kind of crime drama or real crime show. But mostly, I leave the remote in Wizard’s hands and do something else.

My free time obsessions right now:

  1. Maggie. both Maggie and I love staring our day with a walk. Even a short ten-twenty minute walk stars my day off right.
  2.  Yoga. I can’t do much weight lifting and morning, and Yoga is working for me at this time in my life. I’m shocked how much I’m enjoying it now, but wait a month and that could change. In addition to the carefully-spaced practices I do, I love watching Yoga instruction videos, I guess hope that I’ll improve more by osmosis?
  3. Cake decorating. Love it. I did some very armature decorating many years ago when the kids were small, but now I’m watching endless video tutorials on more modern cakes, and mentally designing them. I’m going to do a Nutella chocolate cake for my daughter in late for her birthday in August. That will give me an idea if I can physically do it (it’s more work than one might think). I may do a lactose free Oreo cake for my youngest son just because it will be fun. (Did you know regular Oreos are lactose free????) I kind of want to learn fondant but have been hesitating because it’s a skill that’s going to require a lot of practice, and possibly, my hands and shoulder won’t be able to hand the kneading and rolling required. Plus I need a lot of new stuff, LOL.
  4. Women’s Elite Gymnastics. I love it, and I’m excited for the Olympics. I like the whole women’s team (Simone Biles is utterly amazing!) and am really rooting for MyKala Skinner since I’ve been following her YouTube channel for a while now. She’s sort of a very experienced and skilled underdog, so I’m hoping she can come one awesome medals.
  5. General baking; cookies are my go-to as making cookies relaxes me and they are much faster than doing cakes decorating, which requires many steps with chilling or setting time in between. I can obsess about finding recipes or redesigning them.
  6. Right now, Eli and Savi’s story in Primal Magic is my writing obsession, and I’m trying to keep all the other wing slayer hunters and other types of books I want to write quiet. Plus I have to limit my time on the computer–I refuse to resent that, and instead, embrace a chance to have other free-time hobbies.
  7. I want to say reading, but reading have most been frustrating lately. It’s a phase that will pass, and I’ll be obsessed again :-)

I think those are the things I generally get the most obsessed about right now. How about you?

I don’t obsess much. At least not about cool or good stuff. Nope. I obsess about the bad stuff that should’t be in my head so shush, brain! Free time? This is a list of what I’d LIKE to obsess over and get done, not that it will because Procrastination is my middle name. 🤣

    1. Rearrange my office. (Only still has stuff here, as this was her room before she moved out and got married. We won’t mention how LONG AGO THAT WAS! Yeah, lookin’ at you, Only! I want to change my view and get a handle on the clutter, in hopes that will help the writing flow.

    2. Lose my hoarder status. Long story. I’ll tell a little of it for your Friday Five.

    3. Listening to books. Okay. This one is on-going. I was in a drought for a bit and its still kind of a rollercoaster. I’m currently doing a marathon of Jennifer Estep’s Crown of Shards series. There’s a reason I put these books on my best-of-the-year list! WONDERFUL fantash and world-building. I highly recommend them and the narrator is all kinds of awesome.

    4. I do have a TV obsession currently “The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch.” OMGWTFBBQ! I haven’t watched the most current episode so I’m not sure if there’s more this season or not. If they stop the season on a cliff-hanger about the investigation, I’ll probably scream loud enough y’all can hear me on both coasts!

    5. Uhm…nope. I think that’s it.

I wish I was obsessing over one or more of my writing projects. Everyone’s still at the beach or something. I’m hoping Elsa drives them home! I did get new words for the snippet on my blog today so that’s something. Problem is, it’s not a project on the front burner. Which figures. Anywho…

Happy Hump Day. Enjoy your obsessions, Jen. They all sound wonderful! 🥰

You’ve got some great free time obsessions. I especially like that you’re into cake decorating.

We all know that I’m an exercise addict so even in free time I will be moving around. Maybe a squat here and there, you get it.

I took Spunk to the Vet yesterday and he’s going to be just fine. She said that he either cut himself (claw or something else) or a cat acne pimple came up. The acne tends to harden and become infected so she was tending to go with that as opposed to him clawing himself. Needless to say, she pulled off the hard matter and gave him an antibiotic shot. She will check on him in a week but thinks all is well. Spunk on the other hand was not happy with me and I was punished. No kitty kisses for me last night :(.
Youngest and girlfriend were fine with Elsa in Fort Meyers. He said the lake has only risen about 8 inches. He said the lightening was wild but they are fine.

I have my first in person doctor appointment with my GP in over two years tomorrow. My last visit was April 2019. I’m not looking forward to it ;).

I hope you are having a great day!

Silver, I hear you on the bad stuff. Okay your stuff:

    1) LOL…you’ve been talking about it for years.
    2) Looking forward to hearing it on Friday.
    3) Awesome on finding a series to obsess over on audio!
    4) I see that when I scroll TV sometimes late at night. So you like it huh?
    5) Hope your muse and characters finish up their hiatus and get back to work!

    Happy Hump Day!

Viki, I’ve always like cakes, but they are a process, and my RA gets in the way. Still…there are workarounds and I can choose cakes that aren’t as hard on my hands.

You’re an exercise junkie, but that’s a good thing as long as its making you happy. I’m like that about stretching but I do that more for pain relief.

That is really good news about Spunk! I know you were really (and rightly) worried. I’m so glad it turned out to most likely be something resolved by antibiotics. The recheck will verify that. But whew, anything that might be a tumor is scary stuff. Especially since animals have a way of hiding things until it’s pretty late in the game. I’m so relived for you both!

Sorry you had to endure Spunk being mad at you :-(

Really great news on Youngest and girlfriends in Florida. I know it went to hurricane strength before hitting last night. So glad they’re okay.

Doctor visits are a necessary evil. I hope yours goes well!

Hope you have a good evening!
