Friday Five

TGIF! Jumping right into sharing five random things around our week.

  1. Every time I call Maggie a “spoiled princess” no on in my family disagrees. I want to be outraged on her behalf, but she’s an easy dog to spoil because she really don’t do many “wrong” things.
  2. The highlight of my week was my daughter-in-law doing my nails. She taught herself on Youtube, and I’m impressed!
  3. I might make a cake this weekend just because I want too. I might even get ambitious enough to try a meringue frosting (it’s not as sweet and cloying as buttercream–especially decorator buttercream). I have like a dozen cakes in my head that I want to try, but what would I do with them all?
  4. Wizard pulled a muscle in his back, and he’s not happy about being forced to slow down. He’s also trying not to be annoyed at my hovering, LOL
  5. Due to #4, I don’t know what we’re doing this weekend.

And that’s my boring week, now I’d love to hear your much more interesting Friday Five! Have a great weekend everyone.

Maggie’s a good girl. She’s not letting all that spoiling go to her head. I saw your nail pic on FB. So pretty! Yay cake! Poor Wizard! I hope his back feels better soon. Sounds like time for a lazy weekend.

    1) It’s banging and booming here, and pouring rain. Luckily, I had already moved my container garden under the eaves.
    2) I gave 3 of my zucchini plants to a neighbor who lost theirs in the rain. Here’s hoping they thrive at their house because they’re still not producing veggies here.
    3) Hubs roof patch seems to be working. No drippies, even with all the rain we’re having. Knock on wood.
    4) I’ve started the editing process on my fantasy novel. It’s slow going, but I’m making progress.
    5) I got a wild hair to do some drawing, so I’m attempting to draw this fantasy beast I created. It’s not bad considering I haven’t drawn anything in years. I’ll probably post it once I finish. Maybe.

Ditto what B.E. said! I guarantee my life is more boring than yours! My five:

    1. On Tuesday, the washer decided to act up. It kept “pausing” in the middle of the wash cycle. We finally got it to cycle through and then rinse. Then LG decided to “take a look.” I did the internet thing and discovered it was either the control panel or the door lock mechanism. Long story short, it still isn’t working, we have the replacement door mechanism part and Uncle Fix-It (my BIL) is coming over Sunday to “help.” We all know what that means…

    2. Stormy came over yesterday afternoon and spent the night so his dad could run errands and his parents could get ready for their vacation. They leave tomorrow, taking my Highlander for safety and room reasons. They also have a dog sitter so yay! The three of them are going to a Cardinals game on Sunday and I’m totally jealous!

    3. I managed some new words this week. I’m still “in Boston” so at least the setting and characters are consistent. This is not the project I NEED to be working on but whatever…

    4. “The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch” finale was this week. I haven’t watched it yet. LG says there isn’t really a cliffhanger, which is good but still…exciting UFO/magnetic weirdness stuff going on there in Utah.

    5. And…as usual, I’ve hit #5 with nothing else of interest to add. So, in my boring way, I’m listening to SILVER SILENCE by Nalini Singh, in her Psy-Changling/Trinity series. It’s my favorite in the whole series even if it’s weird that the MC and I have the same first name. Every time I hear “Silver” I look around. ;) The main reason I love it, though, is the bears. Russian bears. Hysterically funny Russian bear shifters, to be precise. If I could write bears like Nalini does, I’d write a bear shifter series. Sadly, no. So I just admire and love hers from afar.

On that note, I need to get Drover spiffed up. Baseball Boy will be swapping out his Jeep with Drover when he comes to pick up Stormy later today. I need to clean the Jake drool out of the back seat and empty the cupholders. Have a great weekend, everyone! 🥰

B.E., I’m strongly suggesting a lazy weekend, but Wizard wants to try to see Turbo. We’ll see how it goes :-) And thanks on my nails, it’s so fun and hanging out with my daughter in law is always a pleasure.

    1) It sure seems like you guys are getting a lot of storms and rain here. Hope the lake isn’t too high.
    2) That was thoughtful of you to give the plants to your neighbor.
    3) Yay on the roof patch!
    4) Editing changes our brain–I swear it’s true. I become hyper critical to the point where I critique newscasters on TV. Hope it’s not making you crazy.
    5) I’m jealous of your drawing talent!

Hope you have a good weekend!

Silver, I doubt your life is more boring!

    1) I’m sending lots of healing wishes and mechanical fairy dust to your washing machine. I hate when my workhorses–washer, drying, microwave, fridge or stove are on the fritz.
    2) Yay for your daughter and family going on vacation! I bet Stormy spending the night gave them a chance to get everything ready. Hope they have a great trip!
    3) Boston has a hold on you, LOL! I know what you mean about not the story you need to be working on. Why doesn’t creativity follow the schedules we need it to???
    4) I hope Utah comes out of the finale safe and sound :-) Enjoy!!
    5) Hmm, I don’t remember Russian bears so now I have to go check that book out. I love her Psy-Changling series. LOL on the name thing.

I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Maggie is not spoiled. She is “well loved.” And she is a very good girl and protector of her household. No lizards make it over the threshold.
    2. Nice of DIL to learn how to do nails and do yours for you. I bet they look great. Remember the Seinfeld episode with the woman with “man hands?” That’s what I have. There is no saving them.
    3. I think meringue is excellent. Nice and light, good on another hot day.
    4. Poor Wizard. I hope he’s feeling better now.
    5. Did you just have a nice relaxing weekend? That would be nice.

1a. My week has consisted of jury duty. It’s all time consuming. I did get ticked off at hubs because he has done NOTHING while I’m gone. I come home the first night and there is no dinner and no plans. I blew a gasket. Needless to say I had double duty all week and am tired. I bet there will be no difference this week ☹.
2a. Spunk is all better and happy to have his neck scratched.
3a. Sister in Law (Joe’s, who died of cancer, wife) had major awful surgery Tuesday. She had bladder cancer and had the works done removing and re-plumbing. Have not talked to her yet. I tried but she wasn’t quite there.
4a. We had super heavy rain. Maybe had about 4-6 inches. I got caught out driving in it. Really bad, should have pulled over but I continued with my errands since I had no other time to do them. Man was I soaked.
5a. On the way home Friday from court I decided I deserved a treat. So I stopped at the store and picked up a slice of chocolate truffle bomb cake. Oh was it good 😊.

Hope to be back to the blog with you Wednesday but the case may go longer.

I hope you have a great Sunday!

Viki, let’s jump right into your five:

    1) It sounds like a long haul on your jury duty. I’m sorry you aren’t getting more help at home when you need it :-(
    2) Yay for Spunk being better!
    3) Your poor sister-in-law! I’ll keep her in my thoughts. You must be worried–recovery from those kinds of surgeries is not easy.
    4) That’s a lot of rain. I’m glad you made it home safely despite being drenched.
    5) Enjoy the cake!! You definitely deserved it.

Hope this next week goes fast and smooth for you.
