What Do You Like To See On Social Media?

I was going to talk about writing, but I just don’t want to :-) I am planning to show up at the computer today and see if something happens on the writing front, but that’s all I have to say about that subject right now.

Instead, let’s talk about what YOU enjoy on social media.

For me, I love posts about people’s lives and hobbies, their kids, grandkids and animals, plus sites about cake decorating (my current obsession) and any positive, fun post.  I enjoy author’s posts about their work and characters too. But I’ve long fallen out of habit of posting, and I’m kind of lost.

So what do you enjoy on social media?

I’m avoiding most forms of social media at the moment. I have my “blog roll” of daily stops so I can check in with blogs, folks, and websites I like. I post on my FB author page at least once a day and reply to any commenters. I post links to my blog and occasional #ThisMadeMeLaugh memes. I’ve never quite figured out what to do with Pinterest or Instagram. My “profile” FB feed just depresses me because I DON’T want to discover that people I like have so completely drunk the Kool-Aid that I wonder if I ever truly knew them at all. Twitter is a cesspool of haters. I do post on MeWe every day–sometimes the link to my blog, sometimes a fun meme. No one is over there so I don’t really get depressed. LOL

Sorry. I probably just should have said, “Funny dogs and cats, videos, and back-to-school pics of kids.” I like those too, but I have to…what to the kids call it? Doomscroll? Yeah. I have to doomscroll through the dreck to find the bright spots.

On a side note, I am getting some new words down. I’m just over 26K words on the Irish Mob Wolves book. Not fast progress, but progress. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer today. I knew better than to flip over to the news for LG to watch. Ah well. Live and learn.

Long live LOL cats, right?!?! Right! 😂

I’m with Silver. LOL… doomscrolling. I like it. (The term. Not having to do it.) I like posts about positive things. I’ve been posting fun songs I’m discovering through my internet radio thing. There’s this one independent artist… can’t remember her name… but her song Cherry Pie makes me happy. I need to post a link to that on FB. I’m on MeWe, too, but it’s kinda sparse right now, so not really the place to be. This morning I got invited to a book group on something called Discord. It’s just a chat thing where people talk about the books they like. It’s seems interesting so I joined. We’ll see how that goes. So many social media sites these days… how to choose which ones will be interesting and effective? Got me.

No worries about talking about writing. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to. Hell, right now, I don’t want to talk about it either. :hugs:

I love my big cats. I support The Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone MN. They do so much for these cats and they share some really awesome videos. I also love funny coffee memes.
Nature shots are always a winner with me. I love cloud photos.

Spunk is telling me it’s time for dinner so I better go feed him.

    Have a great afternoon!

Silver, we all have our safe places like you with your blog roll. I love #Thismademelaugh type posts. I also love kids milestone pics. Dog videos almost always get me.

I suppose I doomscroll for whatever personally bugs me.

    Yay for new words!

B.E., doomscrolling is a good word and so is timesuck, LOL. I think it’s awesome that you find new music! Sharing it is definitely positive.

I’ve heard of discord (can’t remember where) and a new book group to talk about books is fun. Hope it turns out the way you hope.

I have found myself recently surprised by a troll or two being mean (not constructive criticism which is helpful and usually don’t in a positive way) on my cake group.

We can not talk about writing together!

Viki, I remember you support the big cat sanctuary which is cool.

I agree on coffeememes. Nature videos are another good one.

I hope Spunk go this dinner! And I hope he’s been feeling better lately.
