Friday Five

TGIF! How is it that I’m always surprised by the end of the week? LOL! Okay diving into sharing five random things about our weeks.

  1. By the time this posts, we should have our car back. That’s good news since Wizard has a three day race this weekend and I’d be stranded at home :-)
  2. I am shocked how many people on FB page like Eeyore. I was really surprised by the response there to my cake. It’s been fun sharing something I enjoy and I plan to keep doing it.  It’s definitely better than sharing my other hobby of yoga. No one wants to see pictures of that!
  3. It looks like we might have rain today which we desperately need (understatement!).  The shifting atmosphere pressure plays havoc with my sinuses, but that’s standard for me.
  4. My legs look like a crime scene.  I have five new bites and one of them is an overachiever with exaggerated swelling. Add to that the fact that the dozen or more old bites are slow to heal from my meds, and my legs look like a crime scene, LOL. Hopefully the mosquitos will go away soon.
  5. We’ve had Maggie four years now. I have no idea what I ever did to deserve such a special dog with the sweetest heart, but I try hard to appreciate her each day.

That’s my find random things, now I’d love to hear yours! I hope you have a great weekend!

Yay for the return of The Car. See? We told you Eeyore was too cute! Crossing fingers for rain! Totally understand the need y’all have!!! Try taking garlic pills? Hunters around here swear that keeps mosquitos away. Like they can taste it in the blood and it’s poison or something? No clue if it works but hey… And Happy 4th Furever Home Day to Maggie and you and Wiz too! She’s such a special love. So happy y’all found each other. 💖💖💖

    Okay. My five:

    1. Our car luck isn’t so good. The dealership has now had LG’s truck for a second week, after he took it back when it stalled and died at a stop sign and the Check Engine light came on. Sally the Service Writer ducks his calls, he found out they hadn’t even looked at it, and then she calls to say the engine is lunched and he needs a new $7K engine. Seriously? Our long-time mechanic said the engine was fine. We’ll go get it today and LG and Uncle Fix-It will check out some minor things tomorrow. 😡

    2. Stormy had 3 games this week! Lost 2, won 1. He’s doing better behind the plate but his at-bats are erratic. I keep reminding Only that at this level, it’s Keystone Kop Ball. But, yeah. I do feel her frustration.

    3. I did figure out the direction on the revisions for MONTANA MOON. I’m about 25% done. It’s slow going but I don’t have a cover yet anyway so there ya go. LOL Next week sometime. Maybe. No promises.

    4. There’s some bird hanging around that sounds like a kitten meowing in distress. It’s driving me crazy because there is a black kitten in the “cauldron” though I’ve never seen it. The lady across the street has, and named him Warlock. I hear the darn bird and dash out to look for the kitten. All I catch is a shadow flying away.

    5. You CAN eat ice cream for dinner. Just sayin’…

    Have a great weekend, witches!

    1. Sure hope you have your car back. I want Wizard to enjoy his weekend and you not to be stuck at home.
    2. You kill me with the crack on pictures of you doing yoga :). Yup, we all love Eeyore.
    3. The changes in weather and atm. press. are a real factor in sinus issues and muscle/joint aches for me too. I hope you do not get an infection.
    4. Your poor legs. Are you going to try and keep them covered when you go out for the next few weeks so that they heal and look good at the wedding?
    5. Happy 4 Years With Maggie!!!! She is such a sweetheart and has brought so much joy to you and Wizard. A perfect rescue :).

1a. It’s yucky humid here. It’s been very foggy in the mornings because of the fog. I am so happy I don’t have to drive in it unless I want to.
2a. My right hip/leg have been giving me so much grief this week. I have been pounding ibuprofen. I know it’s this crummy weather causing the pain.
3a. Harrison’s 4th birthday is this coming Thursday but DIL is having a grand/great-grand parents birthday get together on Sunday. We will all have our own individual pizza and sit by ourselves with masks on even though we are ALL vaccinated. Harrison loves “the child” so there will be a baby Yoda cake ;).
4a. Yesterday I made pumpkin ravioli with brown butter, shallots, saga and roasted pecans for dinner. It was really pretty good and something different. My only change would be to use less butter. Hubs liked it but I thought it was too much.
5a. I’m surprised how much I’m enjoying Rob O’Neill’s book, The Operator. He really spells out what it is like becoming a SEAL. Now I’m finding that I am picking apart books I’ve read with SEAL heroes because they are so fake.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Silver, I’m not sure my stomach could handle garlic pills, LOL. This too shall pass, it’s just annoying. And before I go on, sorry about the Cardinals. Wizard was disappointed too, but not to the same degree as you.

    1) I’d be suspicious too. I’m so sorry you’re having car trouble. I hope LG and Uncle Fix it can get to the root of the problem and either fix it or find someone honest who can. I really hoped it’d be fixed right for you the first time :-(
    2) Stormy is doing great and so lucky to have all of you help him develop his skills and strategy.
    3) That sounds fast to me! But I get how it can feel slow to the one doing all the work :-)
    4) I think that bird is messing with you, then hiding and laughing. Hope you do get to see the kitten soon.
    5) Wait, you can????? No one ever told me this!

Have a great weekend and hope you get some good news on the car.

Fingers crossed for Wizard’s car. I have a little Eeyore on my desk that owl gave me for Christmas years ago – he used to be my spirit animal. Fingers also crossed for your rain. Mosquito bites suck – try After Bite. It stinks like ammonia but it works. Happy Maggie-versary!

    1) I’m back to making edit notes and I still love this book, so it’s all good.
    2) Hubs and I managed to bring down a leaning tree yesterday. It’s been up against another cedar and basically killing that side of it, so it had to go.
    3) I was in need of a hamburger, but I was too lazy to drive all the way to a real grocery store, so I bought a box of frozen burgers at the Dollar General. They don’t taste bad, but the texture is weird.
    4) Two young bucks were sparring just off the yard today. Sonny and one we hadn’t seen yet. It wasn’t anything major, but it was cool to watch.
    5) I finished redoing one of my gardens. Now it’s just mulch with a big terracotta bowl in the center on a stand. I was originally thinking of using it as a birdbath, but we put seed in it in hopes the birds could eat without squirrel interference. So far, so good.

Viki, it’s harder in the heat to keep my legs covered. I try…but end up failing :-) I’m doing pretty good with my sinuses so far, so knock on wood. And year, pressure changes mess with my joints, but it’s worse for you.

    1) I’m glad you don’t have to drive in the fog too. Hope the humidity dries out.
    2) It’s probably the weather, but always wise to keep an eye on it if it doesn’t ease up.
    3) Harrison loves Yoda? That’s just adorable! I hope he has the best birthday ever, and you all have funny. I’m sorry for the strict rules. Things are getting better again, so maybe the rules will ease up.
    4) Oh my gosh that sounds so delicious! I’ve never had pumpkin ravioli but it sounds like something I would love. You’re good at cooking!
    5) I believe youngest son read that and liked it too. Glad you’re enjoying it! And lol about picking apart other books. Been there, done that as a reader, and as the author that got things wrong.

Enjoy your weekend and HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY TO HARRISON!

B.E, thanks for the tip! I’ve just been doing straight cortisone cream for the swelling.

    1) That’s more than good, that’s awesome!
    2) Glad you were able to do that without mishap. Bringing down trees can be tricky.
    3) You’re braver than me buying meat from the dollar tree! I’ll buy a lot of things, but I’m squeamish at the best of times about meat. I hate that trait, and it’s a little funny since my mom grew up on a small cattle ranch :-)
    4) Wow that’s both amazing and a little scary. They are powerful.
    5) I can’t wait to see how that turns out. Squirrels are resourceful little critters, and may find a way to get in that bowl of yummy food. By the way, Maggie’s groomer had a pet squirrel. That was unusual, but he was a sweet. I don’t know what happened to him.

Hope you have a great weekend and enjoy your time being your own again!
