Weekend Roundup

How the heck didn’t November push her way in???

My weekend was fine. The “surprise” was when Youngest Son dropped by with one of his dogs, Roxy. Maggie couldn’t believe her luck, not only did one of her favorite people come over, but he brought her a friend. I thought her little chihuahua brain might explode, LOL.

Roxy is a older Border Collie who has slowed down a little, but is still a happy girl. I’d say it’s been at least a year since Roxy’s been to my house, but she came right in, went straight to Maggie’s water bowl and got a drink, (Maggie doesn’t care), then went right to the treat cupboard. Her hips and hearing might be giving out, but there’s nothing wrong with her memory and cognitive function. When Roxy was eight, she fought a battle with cancer against some pretty stacked odds and won, and now she’s living out her golden years. She and Maggie get along well, although Youngest Son and I both like to manage our dogs social interactions, so that helps to prevent problems.

Sunday, we went to hang out with Turbo. I took him a plastic pumpkin with a couple toys and a minimal amount of treats. We spent most of the time playing with cars in mud, LOL. That sure takes me back! Tonight he’s going trick or treating to a few houses on his street in his policeman costume. His parents are dressing up with him, which I’m looking forward to seeing pics of.

How was your weekend?

Umm, yeah, about that October thing… it’s so over. LOL (I’m feeling weird this morning.) Ahem… Yay for Maggie having a play date and yay for Roxy chugging right along in her older years. Yay for Turbo time! I bet he’ll be darling in his policeman costume. Happy day-after Halloween!

I can’t believe it’s Monday again already. Like whoa. The weekend fairly flew by there, didn’t it? Other than being too short, the weekend here was okay. I’m taking my books wide, so there was that stuff to work on. We took a break from making firewood and doing woodsy things, but I took a walk – mostly to snoop on the neighborhood because I haven’t done that in a couple months. One neighbor is putting an addition on their house and another has a new deck (which explains the recent flood of cement trucks and lumber deliveries). Saw Jake the neighbor dog who used to live across the street but now lives down the hill. Man, he’s getting old. And that’s about it for my exciting life. ;o)

What B.E. said, except I’m not feeling weird. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, Jen.

Mine was laid-back. We did dinner with the James Gang Saturday night for Only’s b-day. We met a local “chain” pizza place (they started near OSU in Stillwater, then expanded to OKC and Tulsa, but the boys ate and drank beer there a lot in college. ) A friend of LG’s made a gorgeous shadow box/shorage cabinet for their collecton of shot glasses. It’s wood and glass, with “scorched wood” to resemble the stripes on the flag, with the blue field and white stars. It’s like 30″x48″, so pretty huge. She loved it.

Boone’s having some health issues so I got him to lay down on his bed next to mine and crawled into mine so he’d stay there and sleep. I woke up like…four(?) hours later? It’s all his fault. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

No trick-or-treaters here this weekend. We left the porch light off Saturday because we didn’t get home until almost 9, and T-r-T was slated to end at 8. There weren’t any kids out in the neighborhood. Same with last night. It was weird. My city declared Saturday as the time. OKC (we’re a block north of the city dividing line) held it last night. We figured we’d get some clueless ones wandering through but there wasn’t any increase of traffic.

The only thing I did of note was play around with a book cover design, trying it out for myself on Book Brush. (Photoshop is sooooo far out of my wheelhouse!) It’ll do to put on on the NaNoWriMo site for this years project, especially since I don’t have a firm title. At the moment, I’m calling it MOONSTRUCK MAFIA: BOSTON. There will be two more eventually–New York and Chicago. LOL

Okay. That’s it for me. I need to get some words done and some other writerly stuff. Like B.E. I’m taking the books I have left on KU out as they come up for renewal and taking them wide.

    Have a productive week, all!

It’s so sweet that Roxy came by and made Maggie’s day. Maggie is a very good girl sharing her water bowl.

It’s so easy to picture you playing with cars in the mud with Turbo :). These kids have a way of getting us to do almost anything even when it’s hard to get back up ;). I find that my hip does not like to get up off the ground w/o something to grab on to.

I bet Turbo had fun tick or treating. Did he stay out very long? What did his parents go out as?

Hubs took Harrison trick or treating. Harrison went back to being the muppet style raptor (Blue, from Jurassic World). They had a blast. The kid actually dressed in 4 different outfits throughout the day. His parents went as characters from Jurassic World, Clair and the bad guy (I can’t remember his name) that wanted Owen to use the raptors.

Our furnace was worked on last evening. I sure hope all is good now but who knows.

I hope you have a great afternoon.

B.E., I have to admit, November is one of my favorite months so I’ll adjust.

Going wide takes a bit of work, but hopefully, will be worth it. I’m jealous of your walks in the woods! LOL on the snooping, but it’s a good way to keep up. Old dogs are still loveable, but it’s sad to know that they aren’t here forever.

Glad you had a good weekend and hope your week is good too!

Silver, the weekend was good except for a couple small scare type things that appear okay now so I left them out.

What a beautiful gift LG’s friend make for Only! I love it. Hope she had a Very Happy Birthday!

I’m sorry Boone’s having health issues :-( Given your insomnia, I can’t decide if blaming Boone for your early wake up is totally fair :-)

Halloween traditions seem to be changing to more organized events, or that’s been my impression. But I don’t really know. We only had a handful of kids.

Well you can do better than me with bookcovers! Sounds like you have your NaNoWriMo project to start typing. Go, go, go!

    Happy Monday!

Viki, Turbo’s parents both dressed up in police costumes too. It was very cute. I don’t know how long they were out, but they all had fun. They were sending videos to our family site, while the other two boys and us kept updates how many kids were showing up and how our dogs were reacting. Sometimes technology really keeps us connected.

Sounds like Harrison had a great Halloween! A muppet style raptor sounds so cute. His parents are awesome (like Turbos) for dressing up too. It really makes it fun for the kids.

That furnace does give you guys trouble here and there. I hope it works through the winter.

    Happy Monday!
