Uh Oh…We Have an Uninvited Visitor

Oh noes! It’s a gopher!

I don’t know if any of you recall Wizard’s epic battle with a gopher several years ago. It spanned weeks, and the thing traveled through the hills that run along  one side our property before Wizard finally won. I still laugh remembering that battle. Wizard was obsessed, and every time he was triumphant that he’d gotten rid of the creature, another mound of dirt would appear and the whole battle would start over.

But that was before we had Maggie. So we discovered this gopher hole along the back fence. But it looks like Maggie has chased him back to the other side of the fence. Maggie checks every hour or so to see if she can find him. She clearly believes she’s got this handled. And Wizard is hoping that Maggie will be enough to keep him off our property.

Let’s just say I’m skeptical. Did my sweet little Maggie actually scare the wily and determined gopher away? Or is he regrouping for an epic Return of the Gopher to annoy Wizard? I can already picture the gopher burrowed somewhere waiting for night to fall and the big dog (Maggie must look big to a gopher) to go to sleep in the house so he can create enough havoc to drive Wizard into warrior mode?

Stay tuned…

Happy Wednesday!

🤣 I remember! And I watched “Caddyshack” to commiserate with Wiz. Good to know Maggie is on duty but like you, I know gophers can be wily. I look forward to chapter 2 of the saga! And a very Happy Hump Day to you!

Oh no! When we lived in the city, we had a groundhog and a raccoon that we trapped several times and took to a park 5 miles away for release. They were always back in our yard before hubs was home from work. We feel Wizard’s frustration. I’m sure he will win this battle.

I went for a massage this morning and my arm felt so much better but now the pain is creeping back. We have determined that the pain all comes from my neck, where the neck and skull meet. As you well know this stinks.

Have a fantastic afternoon and Maggie, get that groundhog :)!

Silver, I don’t see an signs of the gopher today, but Maggie’s been patrolling out there :-) She likes to track the scent and it’s keeping her busy. But, yeah, gophers are tenacious critters, so we’ll see!

Hope your week is going well.

Viki, I believe it! I guess they use some kind of scent markers to return to the spot they like. Right now, Wizard has so much on his mind, he’s not too worried about a gopher. But if he returns, the battle will be on.

It’s probably your neck that’s causing the pain. An MRI will tell you. Not sure there’s a lot you can do short of surgery, but sometimes knowing the source helps. I hope you can find a way to achieve some relief.

And I hope you’re getting a break from all the cooking this week!

Oh, no, not another gopher! I hope Maggie chased it away or if she catches it, she kills it before it bites her. Nasty little buggers, gophers. Like the Viet-cong… Varmint-cong. ;o)

B.E., so far, no sign of him so Maggie’s done her job so far! I doubt she can catch him since he burrows so I’m not too worried. We shall see :-)
