Weekend Roundup

The weekend came and went right on schedule :-)

Saturday Wizard went racing, and I took advantage of a quiet day to do yoga, then I went out to Hobby Lobby to look around. I intended to buy a 2lb container of fondant to do some more practice cakes, but I ended up getting a 5lb container that was on sale for the price of a 2lb. It’s not great fondant, but perfect for practicing and playing around with ideas. I walked all over that store just amusing myself. Then I came home and took Maggie for a walk over to where our new house will be. We walked so long, that when we got back on our street and the girl across the street came over to say hi, Maggie greeted her, but then pulled to go into the house, which is highly unusual. Normally she’s all over the girl and has better manners than to try to tug me in the house. She was thirsty and tired, I guess.

Sunday, Wizard stayed home and I went out to see Turbo and his parents. Special K and I took Turbo to the park where he insisted he must take the special tackle box that Wizard got him filled with his cars. I got a picture of that for Wizard and that made him happy. Turbo played at the park for a while then we went to lunch. It was a low key and nice day. When I left, Turbo hugged me then he gave me another extra big hug for Grandpa. That kid is such a charmer when he wants to be!

In the morning before I left to see Turbo, I got in the car and the check engine light went on. Grrr. Wizard and I were both surprised. So this morning we’re taking the car in to find out what’s going on. Wizard made the appointment early so I can get home to drop him off, then turn around and go to a long planned lunch with a friend. It’s not the best way to start a Monday but it’s not the worst either and I get to see a friend that I haven’t seen since this whole Covid thing started.

That was my weekend, how was yours?

With my car, the check engine light comes on if the gas cap isn’t on tight enough. This first time it happened, I took the car in. After that?
 As far as I can tell, that’s the only reason the check engine light comes on in a Cavalier. Of course, I’ve had my car for almost 19 years now. Her name is Cally.

Yay for Turbo time! Yay for finding fondant on sale! Yay for a quiet day to do yoga and have a long walk. Yep, Maggie was ready for home. I totally get it. Have fun seeing your friend today!

The weekend was same-same for me. Editing, TV, working in the woods, baking/cooking. I made a vat of chicken soup yesterday and homemade biscuits to go with it. So yummy. I also did no-bakes again. I’m up to page 240 now on the edits. I’d call it the home stretch, but I still have 136 pages to go.

Ooh! So the house is in that area where you walk and met the security guard? That’s cool. Yay for family and friend time. Turbo is soooo sweet. And Maggie knows her own mind.

My weekend…was. The highlight was a belated Valentine’s get-together with the Kids on Saturday night at our fave Mexican place. We got home to disaster. That new toilet? Yeah, Boone destroyed the hard plastic seat and lid plus the metal water cut-off valve at the wall. At least there was no flood.

Sunday morning started with laundry before 6 a.m. Boone helped me spill a full cup of coffee on the bed–all the way to the mattress pad but we got it stripped off before it got to the mattress itself. Today is not better. It started at 4 a.m. **SIGH**

On the bright side, when I switch to summer linens, I’ll only have to wash sheets and comforter, not the whole kit & kaboodle.

There was softball. My OSU Cowgirls did okay. They beat some tough teams and lost to other tough teams. This is only the second weekend in the season so they’ve got time to find their mojo. I also ended up watching the Daytona 500. Do NOT ask me why. I have no clue. No, seriously. I am sooo not a race fan but hey, it was an exciting race and came right down to the last turn on the last lap and the last crash.

On that note, time to put on my adulting costume. Today is Wallyworld Day and Stormy is coming over this morning. He’s out for President’s Day but Baseball Boy has in-service and baseball practice and Only is in the middle of a project at the office. LG got him a new BIG RC car for Valentine’s Day. It came home with us and Stormy is thrilled to get to play with it today.

    Have a good week, all!

Oh, LG did replace the toilet seat and valve yesterday, then broke the glass light globe replacing a faulty bulb in the ceiling fixture in the hallway outside that bath. It was NOT a good weekend. LOLOL

Glad that Wizard got to go racing and that you were able to get such a large fondant container. You’ll have plenty to practice with.

How nice is it that you and Maggie can walk to where your new house will be. It might make it an easier transition for her when you move. It must have still be rather hot for Maggie to give up affections to go get water. She must have been very thirsty.

Turbo is so sweet. How loving to have you give Wizard an extra big hug 🥰.

It never fails. Things seem to be going along nicely (yet still stressful) when BAM the unexpected like a check engine light comes on. Sure hope you got it all taken care of without too much expense.

Saturday youngest did all the stuff around the house for us. He replaced the sump pumps and he removed the soaked vent hose from our bathroom fan and replaced it with an insulted one. That should keep the condensation from occurring and anymore leaks.

He also ordered an access door that he will install in the wall on our third floor so we don’t have to get a ladder to get into the attic. we’ll be able to just open the door and walk right in 😊.

My brother called me Saturday to tell me that he has to have a prostrate biopsy. His PSA had a sharp increase so they did an MRI and there is a mass. The Dr. says it’s 45 to 55% chance it’s cancer. We’re praying for it to be 45 to 55% NOT cancer.

Spunk is letting me know that it’s his dinner time. Can’t keep the guy waiting – how he has me trained😂.

    Have a great evening!

E.E., sorry I’m late! Yesterday turned into a marathon. We checked the gas cap, and the deal “tested” the gas cap and said they could find nothing wrong. Of course. Check engines lights are unreliable and an expensive nuisance. We’ll see what happens.

I had a great time seeing my friend, thanks!

It’s a great time of year for chicken soup. And it’s always the season of baking, LOL Yay for more editing progress. You’re getting there!

Silver, yes, it’s exactly where we used to walk :-)

Let’s start with the positive for you–yay for the belated Valentines get-together.

And now…gosh I’m so sorry for the Boone drama. It doesn’t seem to be getting any better and it’s definitely getting expensive. You guys are going through a hard time with this.

LOL on the race. Yeah I used to watch it and have gone to races, but I lost interest. Wizard watched it one Sunday though. He usually likes to watch Daytona since it’s the kickoff. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hope you got your errands done and had fun with Stormy! I’m sure he and LG had a blast with the RC car :-)

Viki, I hope the transition is easy for Maggie. I think she’ll be okay as long as she’s with us, and knows where her kennel and beds are. It’ll be a while before I have to worry about that.

It’s so true on things going well then they don’t :-) We had the pool pump and the car act up in just a few days. Life does that. The pool pump is like replacing a battery or something on a car–routine. Check engine lights are more frustrating to me because pinpointing the actual cause is impossible unless something literally falls off the car with a note attached saying, “This is the reason your check engine light went on.”

Youngest is very talented! It’s sure nice when our kids help out like that. It sounds like his fixes should resolve the condensation leak.

That access door will make it soooo much easier!

Oh no, I’m so sorry your brothers PSA is up and the MRI showed a mass. That’s concerning. I’m praying for good news. Hang in there, the waiting and worry is so hard. Please keep me updated if you can. I’m sure his doctors are doing all the necessary things to make a quick and correct diagnosis.

LOL, our animals are much better at training us, than us training them :-)
