Weekend Roundup

The weekends keep happening right on schedule :-)

So Wizard and I both feel, well, selfish for being focused on the house when world events are so terrible and people are suffering. I’ll talk about it below since it quite literally consumed our day on Friday (including the long travel time) but I just want everyone to know we’re vividly aware of how frivolous it is right now.

Friday we went to the design center. It took us about 2 1/2 hours of the allotted 4, and a lot of that time was waiting for the computer to do the calculations on that. The lovely designer helping us thanked us for being “so well prepared.”  That made me happy as we did try to prepare. On the other hand, we aren’t doing a lot of upgrades so that helped too. Today we have the electrical upgrade appointment, then once we have all the numbers we’ll crunch them and spit out the final choices on Friday. It all has to be done quickly to get everything rolling to start the build. Both the housing track and we want this to go fast, while we realize there’s a better than even chance there will be delays.

Once all this is done, then we will be in the sit and wait mode for a while.

Saturday was the usual of walks with Maggie, chores and…well nothing notable.

Sunday, I met Biker Witch for some coffee and a little shopping at Target and Kohls. It was just causal looking around, and so nice to spend some time with my sister. I also got in some yoga and more walks with Maggie. It’s so beautiful weather wise right now, so Maggie and I are enjoying it!

That’s my weekend, how was yours?

I think we all feel the same way about the world but as an old pragmatist, there’s not much I can do beyond sending prayers and donations. That means life goes on here, even as we are aware of “over there.” Yay for design decisions. Here’s hoping for an uncomplicated build. Yay for Maggie and Biker Witch. And coffee, of course! ;)

There was a weekend. My OSU Cowgirls were playing in a tournament at Texas A&M, they won all four games and two of them were semi-televised on ESPN+/SECN+. That meant I had to watch either on my phone or computer because the game was NOT broadcast on the TV app. Grrrr. Anyway, go Cowgirls!

The James Gang gathered last night at Hideaway, which is a pizza restaurant that got it’s start at OSU, where LG, Uncle Fix-It and Aunt Hooey went. It’s a go-to because it’s close to in-laws and easy to navigate with her wheelchair. Sadly, there’d been a middle-school basketball tournament at the Catholic school across the street and several teams were in attendance. They were all up on the second floor but it’s open warehouse style so the noise level was insane. Jake was awesome and shocked our waiter/also bartender when he brought the bills because he’d no clue Jake was there until then. And yes, it was an early gathering for my b-day.

Saturday. I skipped Saturday. Mainly becasue there was still ice out there (warm enough now it’s all but melted!) and I didn’t do much of anything. At all.

Here’s hoping for a week with more hopeful news! 🥰

Wow! That’s great that you were able to safe so much time by being prepared ahead of time. It’s nice that the designer thanked you too. I hope all goes well today with the electrical.

Taking a nice easy Sunday visit with Biker Witch is smart. In fact, build them into your monthly schedule as the house is being built. It will help you with all the stress. And building a house is stressful.

Our weekend was good. Hubs got to play with Harrison and help pack while his mom took me with her to work to do my hair. It looks great. Now I have to find a new person since this was my last one with her. Cass was really nice and wrote out the formulas she mixes up and everything for me to share with whomever I find.

Dinner was very nice with youngest and sigfig ;). They were only able to see one house on Saturday and it was terrible. He looked at one by himself on Sunday. It’s small. It was also the first church ever in our county, built in 1802. I think they will keep looking.

The ellipse guy will be out Wednesday afternoon to install the replacement parts. I can’t wait. Hubs is so funny. It was one week ago today that it broke and hubs thinks it’s been 2 1/2 weeks. He doesn’t workout hard like I do so I found it really funny that it’s bugging him so much ;).

I hope you have a great day.

Silver, very true, life does go on. But I still felt I had to say something because I’m watching the Ukraine invasion with one eye on history and one eye on the future.

Wizard goes through the same thing with his teams and trying to watch it on TV. When that fails, he’s on his phone and I feel for him. We pay for these cable packages and still get shafted.

First, Happy Early Birthday :-) Yay for the get together with the family. But bummer that it coincided with several middle school basketball teams being there at the same time. I can well imagine the noise level! I’ve been to those pizza parties with the teams and it’s always chaos. Hope you enjoyed it anyway since it was for your birthday!

I’m glad it’s warmed some and I’m with you on more hopeful news.

Viki, that’s a good idea to see my sister once a month. We try but time gets away from us. Right now, the stress is fine, but we’ll see how it goes :-)

Yay on your hair looking good, but I’m sorry Cassie won’t be able to do it any longer. Writing out the formulas will help a lot. Maybe she has some recommendations for you? It’s a pain finding a new one.

I’m happy to hear dinner went well, but I really feel for your son trying to find a house. The market is so hard on buyers, there’s just not enough inventory. It’s utterly insane. I really hope they find the right house soon. All three of my sons went through this (including bidding and losing) but they all found the right how eventually. It’ll happen if he keeps at it.

I bet Wednesday can’t come soon enough for you. LOL on hubs. Even though he doesn’t workout as hard as you, he clearly values it. You’ll both be relieved to get back to it.

Hope your week is off to a great start!
