Weekend Roundup

It was a decent weekend. We went to see the house is progressing and it’s moving right on schedule so far. There will be delays at some point, but it’s so nice to feel like we’re getting closer.

I made Pistachio Drop Cookies with a white chocolate buttercream icing (I added some melted and cooled white chocolate to the frosting). They came out delicious! The cookies are pretty savory and the icing very sweet. It worked for us :-) Wizard wants me to add theses to my Christmas cookies. I love how he assumes I’ll be making a bunch of cookies. I really should break down the cost of baking all these cookies and watch as his’ accountant’s heart battles his sweet tooth!

I spotted water on the counter behind the sink and mentally blamed Wizard. But once I got closer, I realized that was too much water for Wizard to not have noticed. He’d never leave a puddle like that. Then knowing it wasn’t me, and Maggie can’t reach the sink, I turned to the only other culprit possible — the dishwasher.  I called Wizard to the rescue. He took off the hose, cleaned it out, made sure it wasn’t kinked, and it’s working great now. Even so, Wizard is going to replace the hose this week just to be sure. So glad that was an easy fix since that dishwasher is relatively new.

Maggie and I went on a walk, following the road they are building behind our new house to where it just ends into rugged land and a runoff for the hills. Maggie and I felt like we’d reached the end of the rainbow, but we didn’t find a pot of gold, darn it. The day was in the high sixties and low seventies with clouds. We won’t have many more nice days like that — soon it’ll full on summer heat all day and night.

Oh and I get text updates from Biker Witch telling me how she and my niece and exploring all over the Hawaiian island they’re on. They are soooo lucky I love them!

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

Sounds like an awesome weekend. Yay for a quick fix on the dishwasher problem. Have you tried running a cycle every now and then with Tang? It really helps clean and refresh the dishwasher. =o)

Another quiet weekend in the Ozarks. I mean, we got rain, but no tornadoes, so it’s all good. I had the brakes replaced on my car and then on the way to pick up my car, Hubs’ car had a problem, which was no fun. It could’ve been worse. Other than that, I spent a lot of time lounging around, watching golf. Oh, I did make brownies, so I’ve got that going for me. Yay.

Cookies! And yes, you totally need to do a cost analysis. Just sayin’… Yay for easy fixes, cool weather, long walks, and progress. Sounds like a good weekend!

I was a slug. Literally. But there was softball! Lots and lots of softball! OU and OSU both went through regionals undefeated and will host super-regionals this coming weekend. OU plays Univ. of Central Florida and OSU hosts Clemson. More softball! And luckily, on regular cable ESPN channels so I might could watch and work in my office. Yeah. Right. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Our weather was almost cold, then cool and now it’s cold and raining. We need both so no complaints! Now I just need to get motivated to…you know…work. I postponed my Wallyworld trip because…rain. I might melt, don’cha know.

    Have a great week, everyone!

Yum! Those cookies do sound like they would be great at Christmastime. Wizard has a good idea :-D .

Nice to hear that the house is coming along on schedule. You never know, it may continue to go well. Fingers crossed.

What a lovely day to go for a walk. So glad you and Maggie had a good time. Too bad you didn’t get that pot of gold.

You’re lucky you were able to spot the leak from the dishwasher hose. I would have to find out mine was leaking by water being in the basement.

That’s nice of Biker Witch to share her trip with you. I bet they are loving it.

We had our big birthday dinner Saturday night. We’re at this REALLY nice place and a massive storm comes rolling in. Hail is hitting the windows. You can’t see outside the rain and wind are so strong. Then the power goes out. The place is very high end so they had generator power and all was well. The meal was fantastic. When we got home our place,25 miles away, was hit even harder by the storm. Big mess to clean up.

Other than that the weekend was nice and slow :-P .

My brother has elected to have the surgery. God willing, it will be on June 14th.

I hope you have a really nice evening!

B.E., Tang the powdered drink? First I ever heard that! I learn something new all the time from you :-)

So happy to hear the tonados didn’t come your way! I saw your state was getting hit with bad weather (your state and OK).

Car trouble sucks under any circumstances but it’s even more insulting when the car your using to pick up another car has trouble. Since it could have been worse, I guess it was a fixable problem that didn’t break the bank.

Brownies make any day better! Happy Monday!

Silver, just thinking about running cost analysis make my eyes cross, LOL! But there are online programs for bakers to do that, so maybe one day if I’m bored :-)

Umm….why am I suspicious that there was more softball than work??? But you know what? That’s great! You should do what you enjoy. You’ve earned the right!

No reason to risk melting! LOLOL. My excuse would be there are too many idiot drivers in the rain to risk it, so I think you’re being wise. Odd though, because if I really WANT to do something, I’ll head out in the rain without a second thought. Funny how that works.

Let’s make this week whatever we need it to be!

Viki, thanks, I’m enjoying trying various recipes on cookies. Cookies are fun to experiment with. (Aside from the cost of ingredients these days).

This was more of a kink in the line coming through the overflow on the top of our sink. Truly an easy fix. The kind of leak you’re talking about is my nightmare. Any undetected leak is bad news.

Yay for the birthday dinner going so well despite the storm! The restaurant sure was prepared, and it’s nice to hear they were able to provide the expected level of food and service despite that. Plus you got an extra bit of “ambiance” with the hail hitting the windows. Btu sorry your property got it bad enough to have to clean up.

From what you’ve said, it sounds like your brother gathered all the information he needs, and is choosing the method that will give him the best possible outcome. Keep me updated, please.

    Enjoy your day!

Yep, Tang, the powdered drink. I read about it somewhere on the internet years ago. I shake about a third of the container of Tang all over the bottom of my dishwasher and put some in the detergent cup, then run a cycle. (Empty, of course. LOL) When it’s done, the Tang has scrubbed the inside and made it all fresh smelling. It’s cheaper than ‘dishwasher cleaner’ and it works just as well. =o)
