Weekend Roundup

The last four days were nonstop! I couldn’t even get to answering Friday’s blog comments until Sunday.  So here’s my roundup:

Friday: We woke up to ants. That ended up being an all day chore but I think we battled them back for a while. I was REALLY mad at the stupid ants as I had plans with Biker Witch. But I called her and asked if she’d mind switching her birthday lunch to Sunday, and she was so gracious about it. That made me feel better. Finally, I was able to make Special K’s red velvet cupcakes Friday night. My oven has a convection bake, and it seemed to work great! I didn’t eat the cupcakes, but my official taste testers — Wizard and Turbo — assured me they were fine. By 9pm I was one aching zombie.

Saturday: I had to run to the store, make cream cheese frosting (easy) and ice the cupcakes. Then CPA Boy, Special K and Turbo arrived! Turbo liked the house, but mentioned that he likes stairs and pools. I reminded him that Uncle Youngest has a pool, and then I showed him all the dirt in the backyard. Turbo and Grandpa when spent an hour digging for dinosaur bones and he forgot about stairs and pools :-) Later in the day, I took Turbo and his parents on a hike up a dirt road into the hills. Turbo was convinced we would find a crashed monster truck (he loves monster trucks!). We climbed a long way looking! He loved it, and it was cool for me and Maggie as we got to show off some of the places we like to walk or hike. By the time we got home, CPA boy turned to me and said “You walk like this everyday?” I loved that comment. But I don’t do that specific hike everyday as their are coyotes and critters. Early in the morning, I stay on the streets where it’s safer. I say those hikes for mid day in the cooler months. Still, it was nice that he noticed I try to stay as health as I can. I have to give props to CPA Boy, though, he carried Turbo on his shoulders for part of that hike!

And I think Special K had a good birthday. I’d like to have done more but the second half of this last week was a non-stop bullet train that we couldn’t seem to slow down. And Special is so understanding.

Youngest son and his amazing wife came by too.

Sunday, Biker Witch and I went to lunch. It was great! She’s really going through a home repair challenge and I was just tired from the whirlwind, so it was nice for both of us to get out. I ignored the diet for that one meal and had some chocolate cake too.

Today I have to battle through hellacious traffic to get to a 7:30 appointment for a abdominal ultra sound. But scheduling it early means getting out of the way first thing and have the rest of the day to do other stuff. Struggling through 25 or 30 miles of stop-move 7 inches-and stop again morning commuter traffic is worth that! And then it’s off to the closer coffee dealer to get my fix of morning joy!

How was your weekend?

Boo for ants! Yay for Biker Witch, and Special K is special for a reason! Turbo is too cute and CPA Boy is all kinds of awesome. Sounds like you had a great weekend, all things considered.

Saturday was soccer. Stormy played defense so no goals but he played his position awesomely, passing, kicking, and blocking. We had the early game and it was chilly but that’s okay. I’m ready!

In other sports news, it’s a mixed bag. My Cards went 2 and done. :-? Oh well. We’ll see who’s in the series to decide how much attention we’ll pay. My OSU Cowboys won and moved up a spot in the Top 10. OU has now lost 3 in a row and lost big time to Texas. Sooner nation is in mourning. There are reasons for their fall but the fans are not happy bunnies.

Sunday, I pretty much vegged and listened to Jayne Castle’s newest release, SWEETWATER & THE WITCH. It’s a fun one, set in her SciFi/Para/RomSusp series that’s an offshoot of her Arcane series. How that woman stays so organized and weaves all the historical, contemporary, and futuristic characters and plots together is just freaking amazing. I’m currently listening to a Jennifer Estep YA. We’ll see how it goes. Good premise but the YA style gives me te occasional eye twitch.

Weather is still cool and some people are getting rain. We aren’t. :(

LG saw Pete’s doppleganger and has named him Repeat. He’s terribly skittish but he does check out the food on the porch.

Not much else going on. I was going to Wallyworld and Ace today. I’ve about decided to just hit Ace (I’m out of wild bird seed) and hit Wallyworld tomorrow. There’s nothing I have to have to WW today. And I’m lazy. Besides, I can have another cup of coffee if I don’t go to WW. There are reasons…   Have a great week, all!

Oh no! I hate ants in the house. I sure hope you got them under control. After what I’ve been going through with them in the outer wall of the house, I say KILL THEM!

Now Turbo is a very nice young man. Very polite of him to praise the new house before he tells you that he likes stairs and pools 😉. Smart thinking on your part telling him about the dirt to play in out back. I bet Wizard had way too much fun playing in the dirt with him.

Nice that you got to take them on your walk. Love how impressed CPA son was with your walks.

I bet Special K loved her cupcakes. Convection ovens are supposed to be amazing to back with. When my mom was in France for 3 years she had one and loved it.

So glad you and Biker Witch got to have lunch and sister time.

I hope all went well with your drive this morning. I have no idea how you can to the congested slow roll drive. I would be going out of my head.

We had Harrison’s party yesterday and all was good. He was very happy. It was all dinosaur themed including pin the tail on the T-Rex. He pinned it on perfectly and was blindfolded too.

They all left here at 8 this morning and were stopping at Dinosaur Land in Kentucky. Just received a text that they are at the park. They’ll take an break there and then drive final 1 1/2 hours.

Spunk is just very happy to have those “people” out of his house.

    Have a wonderful afternoon.

Silver, thanks we are still battling ants, and I’ve called in the big guns because I just can’t deal. They are supposed to come tomorrow and we’ll see. Where we live, the ant thing isn’t a surprise.

Yay Stormy! Defense is important too!

I’m sorry for your beloved Cards. Good on OSU, and bummer on OU.

Jayne Castle is amazing! I’m glad you had a good Sunday listening to her. I sometimes like YA — it just depends on the story (and the author!)

I hope you do get some rain soon. I suspect we’re in for another dry year here, but I guess time will tell.

    Repeat is a hilarious name!

Coffee before shopping, always! Hope you got the key things done and you’re day is going well!

Viki, today is the first time I’ve ever called an exterminator. I’m over it. So over it. Ants make me homicidal. With all the construction, we decided to try the service for a little while. And thanks on Turbo and CPA Boy!

Turbo is a lot of fun :-)

I’m excited about the convection oven so far. I like that I can choose, but I’m still figuring everything in the house out. And its so cool that your mom lived in France for three years!

I am so happy to hear Harrison had a good birthday! Dinosaur theme sounds perfect! Love Pin the Tail on the T-Rex :-) And I’m sure he loved staying at your house too. Hope the all have fun at Dinosaur Land!

I can so relate to Spunk being glad at having his house back, LOL!

Hope you’re having a great day!
