Weekend Roundup

Not much to tell :-) This weekend a freeway was closed AGAIN. They are doing needed repairs, but it’s so annoying. Therefore we couldn’t go see Turbo and he couldn’t come see us. Hopefully next weekend!

In good news, I was able to leave the house! I went to Target on Friday and Walmart on Saturday! I even bought a cheap pizza stone, and I very quickly learned why I need a pizza peel (big pizza spatula thing) to get the dough on and off that stone! I didn’t burn myself, but I make a mess of of the pizza. Still I had fun.

Yesterday, my granddog Phoebe came over! It’s her first time here, and Maggie lost her mind. I mean she was a crazy dog. I had her waiting out front on a leash when Phoebe got out of the car, and Maggie turned into a shrill chatter monkey wiggling and baying in excitement. Phoebe was like, “Dude chill,” and did her best to avoid the shrill chatter monkey. I cracked up because Maggie deserves it. She’s either a total snob or a super fan girl when she meets other dogs. She really needs to learn the level middle ground. Even more insane, Phoebe can be dog aggressive, but Maggie didn’t believe it. That surprised me, she’s usually more cautious around bigger dogs. But it was all good, and Phoebe really enjoyed seeing the back yard. The entire time they were here, Phoebe ignored Maggie and for a dog who can be dog aggressive, that is good behavior. I was very proud of her!

Otherwise, I did some boring chores, read a little, watching a movie and began thinking about how to make a monster jam cake for Turbo’s birthday in March. This is probably way beyond my skills, but I’ll try it and see what happens. :-)

How was your weekend?

It was a weekend. Saturday was warm. Sunday was frigid. Today is worse. LOL

Phoebe is such a good girl! And Maggie is so funny. Boo on the freeway closure. That sucks. Have you ordered your pizza thing yet? ;) Have you ever seen a game show called “Is It Cake?” Or something like that. Stormy streams it occasionally when he’s here. No clue what “channel” it’s on. Premise is, amateur cake makers go head-to-head guessing which of a series of “items” is actually a decorated cake. The episode I caught part of had a chessboard and pieces, a dinosaur standing on four legs, a Lego block pyramid and some other stuff I don’t remember. Those who guess correctly keep going until there are only two left and then they have to pick one of the cakes/items to bake and decorate. It’s CRAZY! But the miniute you said monster truck cake, I thought of that show. Good luck with it!

Saturday, I donated blood. Jake went and a local resuce was there with two adorable pit puppies. They barked every time the door opened. Poor Jake just sighed and rolled his eyes at me. Everyone was impressed with what a good boy Jake is. The GOOD vampire was back. Aaron is amazing. The initial stick barely stings, he has no trouble “seating” the needle/catheter/whatever the thing that drains the blood is called, and there was only one tiny spot of blood on the gauze once I took the wrap off later that afternoon. Saturday night was Stormy’s last soccer game until spring. They lost by one goal but he played all three positions most excellently.

Sunday was cold! I did make my Wallyworld run because today is even colder and we have sleet. Got that done, worked a little on the WIP, but mostly just vegged. Watched part of the Chiefs game then fell asleep. LOL

Have a great week, all. Watch the weather if you’re forecast any.

Totally get the frustration of the closed freeway but also understand that repairs have to be made. We’re fortunate around here, we can always take a longer backroad route to any place we want to go. Sorry this closure kept you from seeing Turbo this weekend.

I should have mentioned the pizza peel. I don’t have one either but boy do I want one. Right now i try to slide my pizza off the stone on to a cutting board. I often have a mess too. Eldest has a pizza oven built into his patio at the new house. When they lived up here they bought a table top pizza oven and they have the stone and peels. No mess for them 😊.

What a good girl Phoebe was and Maggie is a hoot. It’s a sure sign of good pet parents that Phoebe was so good.

I read Silver’s account of the giving blood this morning and I felt for poor Jake too. Another good pup.

Good luck with the Monster Jam cake. My best suggestion is to buy the trucks and put them on the cake 😄.

We went to dinner with the boys and ladies. It was nice. Youngest drove us and hubs wore a hearing aid (not both) and was actually part of some of the conversation.

Last night was not a good night with him. He had a dentist appointment this morning. Tomorrow is the therapist, so I’m guessing tonight will be hell again.

The brand new dishwasher – I ran it last night and it leaked. Supposedly that means it’s not level. I called and they were supposed to be here between 2-5. I got a call that they won’t make it and now it will be Wednesday between 8-10. I am so annoyed.

Yesterday morning when I got to Wally I text youngest who was also there getting snow tires on his ladies car. As soon as I sent the text my phone deactivated. Couldn’t get it back on. When I got home I researched on my computer and followed instructions and it still didn’t turn on. When I was about to set up and appointment with Apple (final step) the phone just came on. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to work.

It’s snowing lightly but with ice so it’s slippery out there. The temperature is supposed to drop fast and the high may not even get out of the teens tomorrow.

I sure hope you have a wonderful afternoon.

Not much happened around here. I spent the time getting over my cold. Hubs spent his time catching my cold. This morning my boss called at 6:30 (I was in the shower) and told me not to try to make it to the office because the roads were ice-covered.

I’m glad your grand-dog got to visit. LOL about Maggie fangirling all over her. Good luck with Turbo’s monster jam cake. :hugs:

Silver, your weather is bi-polar. Again.

No I haven’t ordered the pizza peel cause I’m waiting for the first of the month :-) Youngest told me about Is It Cake on Netflix months ago, and I still haven’t watched it. But I will soon as lately I’ve been watching shows when I don’t my best.

You’re a life-saver every time you donate blood.

Jake is the gold standard dog! I really felt for him with the pittie pups. All pups can be like that though until someone helps them learn manners. I suspect my own dog is delearning manners which is totally on me.

FYI pittie pups are too cute for their own good!

Oh back to donating blood, I’ve had those amazing blood goddesses and appreciate each and every one of them who can make the procedures so easy!

You were so smart to get Walmart out of the way before the ice hit!

    Happy Monday!

Viki, there’s a back way around here too, but everyone will be forced to take it, so we just stayed home.

You’re much more skilled if you can slide your dough off the cutting board. Mine clung on for deal life, LOL! I will learn and since I’m kind of home a lot right now, all this keeps me busy and learning a new skill. I’m jealous of Eldest’s pizza oven! I’ve looked at table top ones, but we aren’t ready for that yet.

Buying the truck and putting it on the cake is my backup plan! I know can make track with jumps out of cake. But in the meantime, this gives me goals to think about and keep my mind off the multiple health care fights I have going on.

Good for hubs wearing one hearing aide. It’s a compromise but also progress. But I’m really sorry about the bad night and hope the dentist visit tonight helps. I hope tonight is better, but I believe you’re prediction and big hugs to you.

Are you serious? The new dishwasher should not leak — that means they did not install it right and should but busting their butts to prioritize fixing it. Leveling a dishwasher is not rocket science. I am annoyed for you!

That is so odd that your phone did that. Is that an Apple thing? I haven’t had an iPhone for a long time. My android can do annoying things too though.

Be careful in the snowy, slippery and super cold weather!

B.E., I really hope you’re feeling better, and my sympathies to hubs. Colds are miserable. The last one I had was so mild, I know I got off easy.

Dang, you can’t get a break with your weather. I know that financially you don’t like missing work. Hope you were able to at least enjoy the time off.

Hope you’re having a good night!
