Friday Five
TGIF! I hope everyone had a great week! Let’s get right to sharing five random things in our week:
- Clearly I can read a calendar, because until last night, I thought I was on jury duty starting this Monday. Wizard informed me that the 15th isn’t until the following Monday. It works out well for me as I had a few things I’d like to do next week but thought I couldn’t make plans. So that’s happy news.
- My Monday doctor appointment with my GI doctor was great! I have a diagnosis of elimination of IBS (Irritable Bowl Syndrome) which is a vague condition they don’t fully understand yet so they call it a “syndrome”. This doctor has been tremendously helpful in giving me tools to regain control, and once he pointed me in the right direction, I have done (and continue to do) a huge amount of research. When the doctor found that out how much effort and real change I’ve put into this, down to making my own bread, he was so pretty excited. I’m technically “released” with the caveat that I call him if I experience symptoms that I can’t get control of pretty quickly. I can’t let myself get to a point of losing weight uncontrollably for weeks again, and I’m understand that. I don’t really want to go through it again either :-). But yay for no more doctors, tests and labs for a while!
- I got my hair done yesterday and really like it! She redid the color to a cooler tone which I love. Wizard liked the warmer reddish tones but it’s my hair and he’s smart enough to be happy that I’m happy I really love the cut too. I’d take a picture but I don’t want to, LOL!
- Maggie wanted to say something here: Guys guess what? I got a bath and a mani-pedi! And my friends at the groomers put this jazzy scarf on me too! My mom said I’m beautiful!
- This weekend we are having some of Wizard’s family out. I’m making chicken and beef enchiladas, rice and apple pie. I hopefully will get some sourdough bread made too and plan a bruschetta to go with it but that depends on how all I get done. We are looking forward to seeing them!
So that’s my five, now I’d love to hear yours!

Yay for postponed jury duty and time to do stuff. Double Yay for no more doctors and a good handle on things. Yay for cut and color you like. Maggie IS beautiful. And finally, yay for family time! OK, my five…
1. Rain! We’ve had some! Almost 3″ this week. And the flowers like it. Temps and dry weather pretty much jinxed the wisteria bloom (I had 3 bracts on like 1000 feet of vine) but the honeysuckle is starting to bloom and my peony has popped up with three buds. Yay!
2. Tuesday evening, I was out in the back yard with Boone and cleaning out the puppy pool. I kept hearing guitar music and a crooning voice singing in Spanish so I peeked through the privacy fence. Those neighbors are Hispanic and it’s usually the kids laughing and playing. Dad was alone out there playing and singing. I rushed through the cleaning and refilling (which is a noisy process) and felt bad for making loud noises. Then I just sat out there and listened for a bit. I thought about popping up over the fence and saying, “Me gusto tu musica muy mucho” but thought it might startle him so I just sat and enjoyed my twilight seranade.
3. On Wednesday, I met one of the new neighbors. They bought the house next door to the west (on the curve and our house is on the corner which aligns our side yard and back yard with two houses. Anyway, he’s very nice and I I said, “Oh! You bought the Weasly House,” he laughed and said he and his wife were keeping the name. I explained the two boys had red hair and they moved in at the height of Harry Potter. Only came running in shouting, “Mom! Mom! The Weasleys are moving in next door!” It’s been the Weasley house every since. LOL He’s nice. Haven’t met his wife yet. They’re “young” (she’s working on her masters in accounting, he’s former Air Force).
4. LG came into my office and asked if I’d picked up the bedroom TV remote when I put the summer throw on the foot of the bed. Nope. He thought he’d picked it up with some of his clothes and put it on his dresser. We spent almost 10 minutes backtracking–bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, mudroom dresser (where he leaves his keys, etc). I finally found it in one of his boots lined up in front of his dresser. He’d dropped it and it disappeared into the boot. LOLOL
5. I was awakened from a very deep sleep at 4:54 this morning. The ring doorbell notification for the front door was chiming incessantly. It annoyed Pete, who was curled up next to me, immensely. Me too. I grabbed the phone and my glasses to see who or what was out there. I was greeted by a fuzzy face staring in the camera–Hissy Cat aka Long Tom Silver. The bowls were empty and he wanted his mooched breakfast. He’s not feral but shows up here when he escapes for free meals. Pete stared at the screen, yawned, and curled back up. I did the same. Hissy cats don’t get fed on demand. LOL
Have a great weekend. We may have soccer. Depends on how wet the fields got. Today is church school track meet. Stormy is doing the running broad jump, and two relays–3rd grade and 4th grade. There’s only 1 4th grade boy who wanted to participate so Coach recruited her 3 3rd graders for the 4th grade and then a 2nd grader for the 4th on the 3rd grade team. And yes. Confusing. Even after 2 cups of coffee. Happy Cinco de Mayo. Soft tacos for dinner!

1. Oops. I think that happens to all of us 🤪.
2. That’s great news! Not having to go to the doctor all the time will be nice. It also sounds like you may have a hold on this now.
3. Loving your hair 💗💗💗, YES!
4. Hi Maggie! Love your scarf.
5. Have a fantastic time with Wizard’s family this weekend!
1a. Dealing with the stuff after my mom’s passing is a real pain in the butt.
2a. C is taking hubs to meet up with Harrison and family in Columbus Sunday for Monster truck. I’m not looking forward to Saturday night. Hubs has severe issues when there is change coming and the nights are the worst.
3a. I made pepperoni cheese monkey bread Wednesday. Turned out pretty good. I think I’d add more pepperoni next time.
4a. I’m having a difficult time trying to find Spunk’s Probiotic. I hope it shows up somewhere on line within the next couple days or I’m going to have to try something else. He’s so picky and I don’t want to throw $29 in the trash.
5a. I got my mother’s rings the last time we saw her. I took the anniversary band in and had it sized to fit me. She had a size 4 finger, not me 😂.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Silver, Maggie says Thank You! She loves attention, LOL!
1) Wow, 3 inches is a lot! Go flowers! Except the poor wisteria, but they can be very finnicky.
2) What a treat to get serenaded while cleaning. He probably wouldn’t have noticed much noise at that point, it sounds like in was in the moment. Probably like me chatting away to Maggie in our backyard. I’m sure the neighbors think I’m nuts
3) You have interesting and cool neighbors! I love the “Weasly House” I’d keep it too, but Wizard would be very confused! Sounds like you found out a lot about them!
4) Snort!!! That could happen to me for sure. Glad you found it!
5) That’s too funny that the neighborhood kitty mooch has a fit over empty bowls pre-dawn! Okay maybe not funny to you and Pete, but funny to me
Stormy is turning into quite the athlete! If he plays soccer, I hope he has a great game! And 2 cups of coffee is not enough, LOL! Have a great weekend!

Viki, Maggie liked her scarf. I told her she can wear it again tomorrow for the party — if I remember to put it on her. And yeah, I’m doing better and plan to stay that way.
1) I feel for you! It took me a year to close out all the stuff on my mom for various reasons.
2) I hope Hubs does okay Saturday night. He’ll have fun with Harrison!
3) The bread sounds good!
4) I hope you can find it somewhere that can deliver it in a reasonable time. It’s just getting harder to source the things we need. Maybe the vet can get it?
5) Glad you were able to get them then and get the anniversary ring sized. Some people are tiny! Enjoy the ring — it’s nice to look down, see the ring and feel a part of your mom with you.
I hope all goes well with hubs’s trip and you have a great weekend!
