Weekend Roundup

Happy Monday! We pretty much spent the weekend at home, or around home.

Saturday I went to a Farmer’s Market (I wasn’t impressed with this one), and Wizard overdid it while unsupervised :-) That’s literally true, but I can’t fault him because I’d have done the same thing of pushing through to finish a project. Anyway, he pulled a muscle in his back. By Sunday was already doing much better so we know it’s just a muscle and he’ll be fine. But because schedules didn’t match up and Wizard could use a rest, we stayed close to home. Youngest came by  to deliver some wood for us (Wizard has many projects going!) and we did other stuff that wasn’t particularly noteworthy. Oh I made more sourdough, but that’s something I do every other week now, so it’s almost routine.

Sunday, I took Maggie for a two mile walk in the fog after which I admitted I need new running shoes. I took a deep breath and ordered an expensive new-to-me brand and we’ll see if they fit. It’s kind of weird that I spend the most on the shoes I walk in dirt with! Then I did a yoga practice and some gardening. After lunch I took Maggie to Home Depot where I was happy to see they have the dwarf Meyer lemon try in stock that I hope to get soon. It depends when Wizard can get ready that part of the hill where we are going to put it. I nearly bought my tomato and pepper plants but wisely held off since Wizards wants to rake out and put down some bark before I put potted plants on it. He’s been all logical and deliberate about it, but whatever….  The most important part of the Home Depot trip was that Maggie got about four people to pet her and tell her she’s pretty or sweet. She was quite pleased with her admirers.

Today I need to stay home for a warranty repair on a faucet and Wizard needs to go take his mom to a doctor. That usually takes half a day at the least for him, so pretty much shoots his day. But it will keep him for bending and lifting for one more day so that’s a bonus. While I’m stuck home, I hope to plan to fun cakes to decorate, and organize ingredients to bake and freeze layers. Lately, I just haven’t made the time to do it, and I miss it!

How was your weekend?? I’m guessing it more exciting that ours!

Edit? Okay–I “backtracked” found it in my history and will try posting again. 🤞🏼

Exciting? What is this excitement thing of which you speak? Poor Wiz but glad he’s doing better. Yay for Maggie car trips, pets, and her mom’s reticence on buying plants. ;) Yay for bread and cakes.

No siren test due to weather but we met the Kids for lunch anyway! Due to soccer schedules, it had been waaay too long since we ate at Alvarado’s. It was yummy. I came home and took a massively long nap. My OSU Cowgirls were knocked out of the WCWS last night but OU is still in it.

We wake up to dead or dying cockroaches in the garage. Yay!

Stormy is coming this week while his dad does something at school. I hit Wallyworld yesterday instead of this morning and Jake made a whole new set of friends. I also caught Loki and Pete both in my office window watching Loki’s Bird-o-Vision. I couldn’t get a clear picture. Bummer.

And yeah, that was pretty much the highlight of my weekend. Ah well. I suppose it beats the alternative. LOLOL Have a great week all!

Silver, your comment somehow got put in the spam folder. I got it out, I’m so sorry! I have no clue why that would happen.

Sorry the weather cancelled your siren test, but yay for great food with the people you love!

Good news on the dead and dying cockroaches! And OU staying in!

Getting Wallyworld done has to make the rest of your day and week better. I hope you have a fun time with Stormy!

I’m sorry that your market was kind of a bust. The ones near me are very nice but expensive. It’s worth it sometimes.

Poor Wizard. He’s had back issues before so it’s good to know it’s a muscle pull. Sure hope he’s feeling better.

It is that time of year when projects just keep piling up. The hill will probably be done before you know it. Your hubby is a good guy.

I’m sure Maggie had an excellent time at Home Depot getting loved on while helping you. The Meyer lemon tree sounds so wonderful. It must be nice to pick them fresh.

The boys and I went to my mom’s memorial Saturday. It was kind of strange. The female Episcopal (I am Episcopalian too) Priest did not know my mom. She quit going to church after she had a disagreement with them but she wanted to memorial there because it was my step-dad’s church. So, this Priest had two conversations with my mom. She formed all her opinions of her during these last 4 days of her alert life. This woman basically said NOTHING nice about my mom. Mom’s friends and neighbors were shocked. It was just a weird vibe.

I’ve spent all day working out that same tax issue from March. IRS sent us another letter with another $8K wanted. Even though they cashed our check on March 15th they didn’t acknowledge it. I honestly can’t stand these agencies. Hopefully I will get everything in the mail tomorrow and they will send me another letter with their corrections.

I sure hope your faucet is all taken care of and that you have a great afternoon!

Viki, Wizard will get better, he’s just super frustrated right now. And he had to drive for hours today which I doubt will be helpful but was unavoidable (I’d have gone, but I had to be here for the faucet, which was an easy fix).

The rest of the outdoor stuff will get done in time :-) Both of us are naturally impatient, but truly, we are happy with what we’ve accomplished so far.

Oh and we’re kind of spoiled by fresh lemons because the neighbor in our old hood always gave us free reign with their lemon tree. They still let us pick lemons, but since we have a spot, we thought we might as well get out our tree.

That’s just awful that the priest didn’t have any kind comments about your mom. It’s truly a terrible reflection on her (the priest not your mom). The minister who did my mom’s memorial service never met her, but spoke to all the family and gathered beautiful stories. That included last minute ones both my and my sister’s husband gave him right before the service and he effortlessly wove it all together into a lovely service. We have never forgotten the caring that man put into crafting that memory for all of us. I am so sorry you and all your mom’s loved ones and friends didn’t get that same experience. That woman should find another job or calling. Again, I’m so sorry. I hope that you were able to at least gather people who did know and love your mom to share all your memories.

The IRS is very hard to deal with just based of sheer volume and complexities. Plus they had been severely understaffed. I’m NOT making excuses at all. I just know (lots of tax accountants in my life, LOL) the last few years have gotten even harder due to that. I hope your mail reaches the right person the help you get this fully resolved for the least amount possible.

I hope your week gets better!

Sometimes the quiet weekends are necessary and it sounds like you had a good one. I love the pic you posted on FB of you and the grandpuppies. Sorry to hear about Wizard’s back, but I’m glad it wasn’t anything major. Yay for Maggie!

Nothing much happening around here. Hubs took a trip to FL. He’s back now. I worked. And took care of the kittens. I got some stuff planted in the front garden bed – tomatoes and bell peppers. We’ll see if any of it grows, blooms, or even fruits. I’ll be happy as long as it grows, so I have green things in that bed that aren’t weeds. =o)

B.E., thanks on the pic! My son took that. I love those dogs! When we got to their trailer at the campsite the prior weekend, the dogs were crying because they heard me but I had the nerve to say hi to everyone else before going inside to see them :-)

Wow I bet you had your hands full with a job and two small kittens while hubs was gone! Getting gardening done on top of that is amazing. I’m betting you’ll have tomatoes and peppers in due time! Yeah, weeds are definitely annoying. I’m trying to be vigilant about weeding on the hill to keep Wizard off it for a while. But those suckers are fast and sneaky.

Hope your week is going well!
